So first off, this is a made for knit pattern! I however did not make it out of knit. Imagine that. It worked out great though, no fit or sizing issues and it made up into a nice spring transition jacket with cotton tapestry and velveteen sleeves. Sewing Butterick 6706 Kate Middleton style dress with side zipper #sewing #howtosew #sewingtutorial Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial. This little dress had a few aspects that require a bit "extra" to make up, but well worth it. I changed the interfacing to add extra above the roll line to create nice collar and lapels, I also changed the order of construction so that I could make my buttonholes while the front bodice piece was flat and also the side zipper. Instead of putting it in last, I put in the zipper while I could lay the dress out flat. I think it turned out great. I wanted to make sure that came out first because I ran into a sticky part when working the fly/facing, which was actually my fault for skipping ahead in the directions... So there you go. Meet my new sewing tutorial. Hello! First off, I know this is long, but I am going to try to make "chapters" work so you can find the section you want, because here are soooooo many sections! So, I'm starting with a pattern that has a fitted bodice so of course there are some pattern alterations there because of gravity etc. Also, the usual sleeve widening for thicker arms, as you do... Since I'm using a quality suiting wool, I figured this would be the perfect project to incorporate fusible tailoring which helps with perfect roll lines, back stays and shoulders. And of course, I can't leave that alone so I'm also making bound buttonholes with a special bound buttonhole maker tool which I LOVE! Sewing Vogue 1721 dress designed by Guy Laroche #sewing #howtosew #sewingtutorial Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial. This dress has so many aspects that I was not expecting! And, yes, that is why this turned into a 2 hour plus video! I had to make a couple pattern alterations, including lowering the bust and widening the sleeve bicep area. Also, this dress has an amazingly large skirt, which is so fun, but cumbersome at times. It has fun darts and an invisible zipper. I made a couple mistakes along the way and showed how I fixed them. Wrapping things up with a grosgrain ribbon waist stay and horsehair braid hem Now I have a dress ready for holiday festivities.
