What is Libertarian Paganism? w/ Logan Albright and Devin Rogers
Logan Albright, head writer at Free the People, and Devin Rogers discuss Libertarian Paganism, what it is, and how the two ideas intertwine. Libertarian Paganism posits that there is a fundamental sympathy between these two apparently unrelated belief systems, and that a set of shared values might attract politically homeless pagans to libertarianism, or spiritually homeless libertarians to paganism. These values include respect for the individual, the importance of consent, the freedom to express views which are out of the mainstream, tolerance and inclusion, and a healthy skepticism towards the powerful.

The Constant Crisis Crisis | Guest: John Tierney | Ep 246
From the 24-hour news cycle to constant doom-scrolling on social media, the world is awash in negative thinking and the mentality that the next crisis is right around the corner. Matt Kibbe is joined by John Tierney, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, to discuss how this kind of thinking leaves us vulnerable to surrendering our civil liberties to authoritarians eager to take advantage of emergencies, real or imagined. Tierney preaches skepticism on everything from the government narrative on COVID to the pervasive idea that 21st-century America is an oppressive, misogynistic patriarchy and urges viewers not to just accept what they are told by so-called experts.

Kibbe on Liberty is a weekly podcast with libertarian author, economist, and community organizer Matt Kibbe. As the president of Free the People, Kibbe has decades of experience in the libertarian political sphere, but in these troubled times he believes that open dialogue is needed to bring people together. This means being willing to talk, and especially listen, to those with whom we might not always agree, trying to understand perspectives that might otherwise be foreign to us.
Kibbe on Liberty's growing roster of guests includes politicians, economists, comedians, writers, radio personalities, activists, journalists, and even a magician or two—with topics of conversation ranging from current affairs to craft beer and the Grateful Dead. So grab a cold one, and settle in for the next hour of Kibbe on Liberty, mostly honest conversations with mostly interesting people.

You Can Pry My Beer from My Cold, Dead Hands | Guest: David Clement | Ep 245
Why is the Biden administration now recommending that Americans drink no more than two beers a week? Blame Canada! Canadian public health policies, crafted by neo-prohibitionist advocacy groups, are trickling down into the United States and making their way into public policy, flying in the face of the medical literature on moderate alcohol consumption. They are also stunningly hypocritical coming from a government that knowingly drove up the rates of alcoholism and substance abuse by locking people in their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, closing gyms, parks, and churches while leaving liquor stores open. Matt Kibbe talks to David Clement from the Consumer Choice Center about where these guidelines come from and why they are such a bad idea, both from the perspective of sound medical advice and good old-fashioned American freedom.

Telegrams Were the Email of Their Day
David T. Beito, author of the new book, The New Deal’s War on the Bill of Rights, talks about the importance of the telegram in communications in the mid-20th century. Like a modern email or text message, telegrams could send messages almost instantly, which was a huge advance from having to physically carry mail over land and sea. That’s why it was such a bid deal when Franklin Roosevelt wanted to surveil every telegram sent or received by a Member of Congress. #shorts #history #telegrams #fdr #surveillance #civilliberties

Roosevelt's Homophobic Witch Hunt
David T. It got so bad that even the New York Times was calling Roosevelt the bad guy, but he managed to survive the scandal and become one of America’s most beloved Presidents by people who don’t know his real history. #shorts #FDR #civilliberties #newdeal

FDR Thought the Ends Justified the Means
David T. Beito, author of the new book, The New Deal’s War on the Bill of Rights, explains that FDR was an “ends-oriented president” meaning he cared more about achieving his goals than the methods used to achieve them, even if that meant gross violations of American civil liberties. #shorts #fdr #civilliberties

FDR’s War on Civil Liberties | Guest: David Beito | Ep 244
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt is generally lionized as one of the great American presidents, having been elected an unprecedented four times and seeing the nation through the Great Depression and the Second World War, as well as creating some of the most enduring features of the modern welfare state. But was FDR really a hero of the people, or did his policies irrevocably damage the civil liberties and individual freedoms of American citizens? Matt Kibbe is joined by David T. Beito, author of the new book “The New Deal’s War on the Bill of Rights,” to discuss FDR’s enthusiasm for internment camps for Japanese-Americans, domestic surveillance, and homophobic witch hunts. As Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln fall under the scrutiny of modern-day culture warriors, maybe it’s time we took a second look at the complex legacy of America’s 32nd president.

Unmasking the Woke Cult
Is a cult of wokeness really a cult? Think of your friends who post black squares and pride flags on social media, write their pronouns in email signature lines, and spout equity and inclusion talking points whenever they get a chance. Wokeness offers them an identity and a sense of belonging. But in this episode of Cult of Wokeness, Sam Martin draws the disturbing parallels between wokeness today and historical examples like Maoist communism and Scientology.

Maui Fires: A Perfect Storm of Government Incompetence
The wildfires that have torn apart the island of Maui have been called a freak accident and blamed on global warming, but in fact the conditions for this disaster were laid long ago through a series of bad decisions from government regulators. The unintended consequences from policies designed to reduce housing costs and promote green energy set up conditions where abandoned farms were untended and overgrown with highly flammable, invasive grass, while the island's electrical grid remained dangerous and poorly maintained. Combine that with a confused and badly coordinated response from local officials, and we're left with a situation that needlessly cost hundreds, and maybe even thousands of lives.
