E21 0003 Bluewater, Thoreau and the Continental Divide on Route 66 83
This entire series was filmed during late summer of 2010.Many of the personalities still can be found but many others have moved on. This series will tell you of history, it will show attractions, and it will make you laugh and cry. This is the Mother Road. Follow us as we reveal American's main street. The maps are easy to follow and this series is a great traveling companion. Please like on YouTube, + rumble on Rumble, subscribe and click notifications. We intend to release a video every two days. The adventure is 109 videos, and a surprise contest at the end. So be sure to watch the end of the video for clues to win! No purchase necessary!
In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we continue with Poteet in Bluewater and the site of the Anaconda Mounds. On this section of Route 66 we saw Bowin's Bluewater trading Post (closed) as we headed to the Continental Divide, but first is Thoreau, where we filmed the Red Mountain Market and Deli (closed), and the Thoreau ruins. The Continental Divide is where water will flow either west or east, and here is where we found the Indian Market Trading post and another one next to it. Like I said before, Indians and cameras do not mix, so "no indoor picture taking allowed". We see another Whiting Brothers sign, one of many on the Old Road and the area. We are heading for Gallup, the place to go to find a large selection of Indian Jewelry. Our stops in this segment is the Roadrunner Motel and café (both open), the Hotel El Rancho (open), the giant, and the Ranch Kitchen horse sculpture.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we arrive at the Budsville Trading Company. Our destination is Grant, but on the way we filmed the Whiting Brothers sign. Entering Grants we see the Desert Sun Motel ruin. Driving through grant we film the Roaring 20's ruin, The Monte Carlo Restaurant (closed), the Los Alamitos Motel ruin, the Indian Trails Trading Post and Kachina Country USA. The highlight of this segment is in Bluewater, at the Bluewater Inn. When Kenneth Poteet saw us filming his property he came out and shared some history about his area, Inn and restaurant (both closed), and a disturbing Old Road story about Anaconda , across the street, that was a uranium mining town found contaminated. The government decided to buy all the property and bury it. Do not walk on that land because it is radioactive and that will cause health problems.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we are on the old road filming natural formations and ruins. We are also passing through Indian reservations where we have to be careful filming because in some areas the Indians do not want people to film, and we make every attempt to honor their wishes when we are aware. We are heading towards Budsville as we travel a lonely segment of Route 66. in this segment we drove the famous 'Dead Man's Curve'.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we are with Vicky Ashcraft at Enchanted trails who gave us a tour and told us a story. Our destination today is the haunted Luna Mansion, but on the way we took footage of the old Isleta Pueblo Ruin, a mud ruin, and our lady of Guadalupe church in Paralta. The iconic Luna Mansion, next door to the Country Inn, is beautiful and is haunted.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we are touring Santa Fe, but we have no guide here. We filmed Lorreen, the Chili Shop, and the Palace of the Governors, Saint Francis of Assisi, the Loreto Chapel, and the oldest Church in America, San Miguel Church. We left Santa Fe and stopped to film the Algodones ruin. We are heading to Albuquerque with a stop in Bernalillo to shoot a mural and the Range Café. Our first stop in Albuquerque was another Giant, the Giant ax man, by the Route 66 Plaza, on top of May Café.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we left Dilia to Santa Fe passing curious landscapes. We finally arrive at the Lamplighter inn and met with henna artist Lisa Lopez who worked a piece on Holly. We stayed overnight in Santa Fe, a very artsy town. The next day we documented the El Ray Inn and spoke with owner Tarrell White.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we started with some more ruins before we filmed Joseph's Bar and Grill. We continued to film ruins on our way to the famous Santa Rosa Blue Hole and their Park Lake Recreation area (this is a good stop for your kids). As we pass through Santa Rosa we filmed the Route 66 Restaurant (open) and the Silver Moon Mexican Restaurant (open). We came to another spur then we turned right onto Route 84 which is an older Route 66 alignment, and the original Santa Fe Trail, that takes you to Santa Fe. This is a long and lonely stretch of Route 66 that passes through Dilia that has the Sacred heart Church attraction and some ruins.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure continues at the Tucumcari five Mile Park with Richard Tally. Richard introduced us to Bob Beaulieu at the Tucumcari chamber of commerce. We then sought out the Tucumcari murals. The Road crew allowed us to use their song "Tucumcari tonight" in this segment, Thanks Road Crew! Our next destination is the Santa Rosa Auto Museum, but on our way we filmed more ruins and attractions. We filmed the Lake View Motor Court ruins and the Le Mesa Motel.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure Elmer Long gives us a pictorial essay of life as a Bottle Tree Artist. We left the Bottle Tree Forest and found yet another Fenced in Ghost Town and we explored the Iconic Antique Station (1901) that was standing before Route 66 passed their doors. From this point on, in California, Route 66 fever fades, so we are on our own. Our next destination is the bridge that crosses an underground river: The Mojave River Bridge. We continued west to Hosporia to film the Summit Inn (burned down). California has been burning down these last few years and I am not sure how many places like this survived. We always try to follow the oldest alignments, the original road, as much as we can, so we took exit 129 to film two old parallel Old Road alignments right at the Saint Andres fault.

Episode 70 of “A Great Route 66 Adventure” was released; each episode is about 6 minutes long.
Do me a favor and give it a view and subscribe.
In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we found the abandoned CRI&P RR Tunnel. We then entered Tucumcari that has a few ruins in the outskirts of town like the Pony Soldier. Richard tally greeted us at the Motel Safari and was our guide for the two days we were there. The first attraction we saw was the Mother Road garage owned by Cindy and Danny Ellis who gave us a tour of his business, plus a group of locals gathered to tell stories.

In San Jon we filmed their ruins and the San Jon Motel (open). In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we continue the Dot's mini Museum Tour with Betty Carpenter. We continued south on our way to Mid-point that marks the middle of Route 66. The trip is half over. There are several ruins; the first one is Brenda's Café and then the Bent Door Café. We stopped at the Midpoint café (open) then headed for Glenrio to see the ghost Town. We filmed a ruin on the way. Now the Glenrio Ghost Town is privately owned with no trespassing signs all over, so we had to film from a distance. In the ghost town we saw the Little Juarez Café, Glenrio Motor Inn, the Glenrio Gas Station and unidentified buildings.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure where we met a couple who told a romantic old road story at the Vega Motel, but first we filmed an old Texaco Station. It looks like they may be restoring the Vega Motel. We met Sandra and Phillip Gilmore when filming the motel, and they shared with us their romantic Route 66 story. From there we filmed iconic landmarks like the Roadrunner Drive In ruin, the Magnolia Station, Roark Hardware, and their main street before we found their best attraction, Dot's Mini Museum. Betty Carpenter, Dots daughter, who gave us the tour.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we continue at Cowboy Gelato with Cody Anderson, then we check out a few more shops on 6th Ave, which is 6th Street, which is Route 66. You will find the Golden Light café and the Blue Sage Art Gallery. Leaving Amarillo you have to check out the famous Cadillac Ranch that inspired Henry's Rabbit Ranch and in Conway the Bug Ranch. One thing about these parts is all those friendly cows.

Merry Christmas fellow Mother Road Fans! I did not actually plan for this segment to fall on Christmas, on this most fitting day. I hope 2121 will be the year you all can travel Route 66.
In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure starts at the giant Cross of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We continued in Conway to film the Walkers Phillips 66 Station ruin, and the Longhorn Trading post and Bug Ranch, but the station is a ruin. We are seeing more Ghost Towns as we head west, but they are usually fenced in. We were told they started to do this because people were taking a piece as a memento. as we entered Amarillo we saw ruins and old signs, but we were looking for the Triangle Motel and the owner Alan McNeil who shared with us his efforts to renovate this landmark.
I hope the maps I am providing makes mapping out your adventure easy.

The main attraction in Conway is the Giant Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this episode of the Route 66 Adventure we leave Erick where we had an insane time, and on the way out we filmed attractions and ruins. Texola is our next stop where we had fun at their jail and took pictures of some Texola ruins. The iconic U-Drop in is what we were seeking in Shamrock, a restored Conoco station. Shamrock has a large mural that looks like a town. From there we headed to McLean to see the Devils Wire Museum.
