Filipina Adventures in Michigan with Cleo and Mark

August 31, 2020. We went up to Luddington hoping to do some swimming. It was forecast to be the warmest day of the week. But it was super windy, there was a Dangerous Water Advisory for the Luddington area, and it was cold. We still managed to get a quick Mavic Pro flight in around the Breakwater Lighthouse.

July 5 & 6, 2020. The end of our camping trip to Petoskey State Park. We visited the Petoskey Marina, flew the Mavic Pro some. Walked up the Bear River a little bit. Our friends left on the fifth. We hit the beach again for more snorkeling and Petoskey stone hunting. Finally some wine coolers and Ukulele by the fireside. Got up on the sixth and packed it all up to go home. At the end of August we will be camping Silver Lake State Park, stay tuned after that for more 'vlogs'. Hopefully of better quality, now that we have learned some things.

July 3, 2020. Our friends are coming up to stay a couple of nights. While waiting I took the Mavic Pro up to show how close we are to the beach, and how many boats are anchored right offshore. Our friends showed with their cutie dog and we all hit the beach (well, except the dog and one person to watch her). More snorkeling, more Petoskey rock hunting. Then a big dinner cooked over the fire. Those are some big sausages! Another nice sunset too.

July 4, 2020. We went to visit Lavendar Hill Farms again. Cleo wanted some refills. The store there was closed, however, we had to come back the next day. Another pretty sunset, no fireworks for us this year because of the Covid :(

July 2, 2020. Just a short one this time. We didn't film a lot this day. We rode bikes for a bit. I rode to the front of the park and back. The day was capped with another beautiful sunset.

Camaraines Sur, Bicol. We enjoyed Nabontolan ('punch') falls but it started pouring rain when we got to Malabsay falls. One of the guides came to tell us we had to leave due to the danger of flash floods.

August 28, 2020. The start of our 10 days camping at Silver Lake State Park, south of Luddington, Michigan. Here we have timelapse of packing up the car; video of the final approach to the campground, checking in and pulling into our campsite; finally timelapse of setting up our camp. The first week of October 2019. It took me a while to find the time to edit this together. Crossing the Mackinaw Bridge. Both the Upper and Lower Falls. Filmed with Nikon A900, Insta360 One X, and Mavic Pro.

July 1, 2020. A chill at the beach day. I did some snorkeling and Cleo used her snorkel mask to help her find Petoskey stones, which worked out well. Another beautiful sunset which I captured some of the post sunset beauty with the Mavic Pro.

June 30, 2020. Camping at Petoskey State Park. We went to Bay Front Park to get some photos and fly the Mavic Pro. Drone footage of Bay Front Park, Petoskey, the Marina and Sunset View Park. Cleo cooked herself up some Cornish Hen with baby potatos over the open fire. We had another nice sunset also.

Our Sunday (June 28) camping at Petoskey State Park in 2020. It was a slow day, we stayed in camp with only a quick trip to Walmart to grab Citronella oil and a rake. Cleo wanted to rake the leaves in camp. Pancakes with scrambled eggs for breakfast. Spaghetti for lunch (so yummy!). Cleo cooked chicken with baby potatoes and tomatoes for dinner.

Camping at Petoskey State Park. June 26 (arriving) and June 27 (first full day). We thought we'd try going to more of a vlog format. We learned many lessons, including to maybe plan activities the next trip. This shows the trip up, some camp set up and our breakfast and dinner for our first full day. Cooking pancakes on the Coleman, as well as Chicken Though Adobo and Pizza for Dinner (lunch was just simple snack type food). We wrap it up with a short photo shoot at sunset, trying out the crystal balls.

August 29, 2020. Our first day camping at Silver Lake State Park. We walk the campground loop. Check out the beach and playground and watch a kite boarder. Then after dinner it is off to Little Sable Point Lighthouse to fly the Mavic Pro and watch the sunset.

Monday, June 29, 2020 at Petoskey State Park. I had to spend most of the morning Working From Camp (WFC?) because sometimes things just have to get done. Otherwise a beach day. We went first to the big sandy public beach, but there were a lot of people there and so a lot of stuff was kicked up in the water (knocked off the rocks maybe). We went to the campground beach and it was better, although rocky. We got to try out our brand new full face snorkel masks, which were great. I also tried out the fins but Cleo wasn't quite ready to take that step. Snorkeling with a full face rocks, although there was not much to see at Petoskey. It did help Cleo find lots of Petoskey stones though (she had previously never found any). We settled down to the fire and some Seagrams.
