Turning pennies gold
For this video, I'm gonna try turning this penny into gold, which is something that I've always wanted to do.
Procedure:
1) Wash penny with vinegar and salt
2) Drop it into 3M NaOH (12g NaOH in 100mL water) + zinc metal
3) Dry it, put it on a hot plate, and turn on the heat
4) Gold
Unfortunately though, even it really looks like it, it isn't real gold. It's actually brass, and it formed because the heat caused the zinc coating, to combine with the copper in the penny

EU Pressure on Turkey to Avoid BRICS: What is going on?
The European Union (EU) is accelerating efforts to enhance its relations with Turkey, with a focus on strengthening trade ties in 2024. This comes despite Turkey's growing interest in BRICS a group it views as a strategic alternative due to frustration over stagnant progress with Brussels.
Why does Turkey want to join BRICS?
Economically, BRICS membership could open new markets for Turkish products and services. The bloc represents around 40% of the world's population and a significant portion of global GDP, offering vast opportunities for trade expansion. Additionally, Turkey could benefit from increased investment flows and technology transfers from BRICS countries, particularly China and Russia. These partnerships could bolster Turkey's technological capabilities and infrastructure development, which are crucial for its economic growth. Moreover, BRICS is working towards reducing reliance on the US dollar by promoting local currency transactions and creating a new reserve currency. This aligns with Turkey's interest in enhancing its financial stability and reducing vulnerability to currency fluctuations.
Geopolitically, by joining BRICS, Turkey aims to balance its relations with Western countries and enhance its influence in a multipolar world order. This move is seen as a way to strengthen Turkey's geopolitical standing without abandoning its ties with NATO and the EU. Furthermore, Turkey seeks to play a more active role in global governance by aligning with BRICS, which advocates for a more equitable international system. This stance resonates with Turkey's criticism of the current Western-dominated global order and its desire for more inclusive decision-making processes at the international level
Simultaneously, the EU has intensified efforts to attract Turkey by pushing to revive and modernize the customs union. The goal is to expand cooperation in services, public procurement, and sustainable development. This initiative also aims to address trade irritants and improve migration management, which is a key component of the 2016 EU-Turkey statement.
Despite these efforts, Turkey has shown interest in joining BRICS, seeking to diversify its economic relations and strengthen ties with non-Western powers. This interest aligns with Turkey's broader foreign policy goals of expanding its influence and economic partnerships beyond traditional Western alliances

G7 in $300 billion Crisis: Saudi Arabia’s Aggressive Stance on EU Debt
Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia quietly hinted that it might sell some of its European debt holdings if the Group of Seven (G7) nations decided to seize nearly $300 billion of Russia's frozen assets. The frozen assets are Russia’s funds or property that have been blocked from being moved or sold by western countries. This suggestion came as the G7 was considering ways to support Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia.
The G7, comprising the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy, and Canada, has been deliberating various strategies to use these frozen assets to support Ukraine. One proposal involves using the profits from these assets, which could generate about €2.5-3 billion annually, primarily to buy weapons for Ukraine. This approach, termed as "collateralizing" the assets, is seen as a compromise to avoid outright confiscation, which some European countries view as legally risky and potentially destabilizing for the eurozone.
Saudi Arabia's stance is part of a broader push by countries like China and Indonesia, which have also expressed skepticism about seizing Russian assets. They argue that such actions could set a dangerous precedent, potentially leading to similar measures against their assets in the future if geopolitical tensions arise. Additionally, there are fears that the confiscation could provoke retaliatory legal actions from Russia and complicate international financial relations.
But what does all this mean, and why is it important

BRICS To Leave the UN: What Next?
BRICS countries, along with other Global South nations, have voiced their discontent with the United Nations for several reasons. Chief among their concerns is the significant influence Western nations wield in key international organizations and decision-making processes. These countries believe that the current UN framework does not adequately represent their interests and viewpoints. Consequently, the BRICS nations are pushing for a more democratic and inclusive structure within the UN.
For instance, during the recent BRICS summit, there were calls for comprehensive reform of the UN to ensure greater involvement of emerging nations, including a re-evaluation of the Security Council's composition and the veto power held by the permanent members.
Consequently, there have been numerous calls for significant reforms or even a total overhaul of the UN, with the goal of establishing a more equitable and representative system of global governance. This video will delve into these proposed changes and the motivations driving them

China Military Exercise with BRICS countries: A Warning to NATO?
The air forces of China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are conducting their joint military exercise, named "Falcon Shield 2024," in China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This exercise, running from late June through late July, marks a historic step in the defense and security ties between the two nations. The primary aim of the exercise is to deepen practical exchanges, boost understanding, and enhance mutual trust between the two countries' militaries.
This initiative follows a series of strategic moves by China to strengthen its military and economic relationships in the Middle East. Earlier this year, China signed a contract to export L-15 training fighter jets to the UAE, with the UAE initially planning to purchase 12 jets and potentially an additional 36 in the future. This arms deal highlights the growing defense ties between the two nations and China's expanding influence in the region
