Electrical engineering encompasses a broad range of subdisciplines included electronics, RF, controls, signal processing, instrumentation, power, and much more. This video covers a quick overview of those fields and then goes into the electrical engineering undergrad curriculum you can expect. Note that all schools are a little different so don't take this as a guarantee, but hopefully this gives a good overview of what to expect.

Plenty of people can be turned away from engineering for a variety of factors. Some of these that I include in the video are
1. Not being good at math
2. Not having any experience
3. Not being good with hands
There are reasons why engineering might not be right for you. But it's important to distinguish those from the less important reasons that a lot of people have to deal with.

Most people will tell you that engineering is definitely worth the hard work. I would agree with this but there are people who may not see it as "worth it" depending on their situation. This usually comes down to not truly wanting to go into the field or having goals that don't align with getting the degree. In this video I outline some positives and negatives about engineering so you can make a more informed decision.

Do you wonder how much programming you'll do in college as an engineer. This answer is very dependent on what major you pick, the university you go to, and various other factors. However there are some consistencies in each major that will help show you what you can possibly expect. Many engineering majors do a lot of programming with Matlab, whereas some others learn the more common programming languages such as C, python, java, and more.

Does College GPA Matter?
STEMerch Store: https://stemerch.com/Support the Channel: https://www.patreon.com/zachstar

This video covers whether your college GPA matters. To put simply, it will matter for getting further education whether it be a master's program, medical school, nursing school, law school, etc.
However, when it comes to a job, your GPA might help you get an interview for some companies, but that won't always be the case. Some companies will filter out resumes that have lower than a certain GPA. Most people say this is not the case for them, but it does happen and you should be aware.
Overall you don't need a good GPA in order to get a job, you really should be working on networking, projects, getting experience, and so on.

This video covers some of the pros and cons of working at a small company vs a large company. You may look at the cool projects advertised at large companies, but that doesn't mean you'll definitely be doing the more interesting work. Below are some of the pros and cons mentioned in the video. There isn't one right path in general, but just think about your interests and what's best for you.
Large Company Pros:
1. Higher pay
2. Better benefits (medical, dental, retirement, etc)
3. Lots of resources for help
4. Work on big projects
5. Many paths you can go within the company
Large Company Cons:
1. Less technical activities (especially in beginning)
2. Don't know everyone at the company
3. Smaller part of project you are working on
4. Contributions are less noticeable
Small Company Pros:
1. More interesting technical work (especially in beginning)
2. Exposure to lots of different things
3. Bigger part of projects you are working on
4. More flexibility
5. Part of a family cause everyone knows eachother
Small Company Cons:
1. More hectic hours (sometimes without more pay)
2. Benefits aren't as appealing
3. More volatility if economy tanks
4. If you want a change, need to change companies

Being more productive is about managing your time, energy, and attention. You need to find a balance of all three of these things to maximize your productivity.
Although we all want a quick and easy way to boost our productivity ten fold, that's not usually how it works for people. We need to make small changes and consistently do them on a day to day basis to work our way towards great changes.

This video covers a summary of the book "How not to be wrong, the power of mathematical thinking". Most of the math we learn in high school and beyond is not used ever again (unless you go into math, science, or engineering). However, high school does a poor job at describing what math actually is.
Mathematical thinking allows people to understand and interpret numbers, data, and situations in a much clearer way. Many studies or assumptions we've made in life are premature due to elements we don't really consider.
Pure mathematicians use true mathematical thinking all the time, but everyone uses a simpler version of this profound mathematics.

This video covers the math major including applied math vs pure math, courses you'll take, and careers you can go into. The math major in undergrad involves a lot of the same classes whether you go into applied math or pure math include Calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, proofs, abstract algebra, real analysis, and more. But you will be able to take electives in pure or applied math concepts.
Pure math is about using math to solve problems in math. Then applied math is about using math to solve problems outside of math (such as physics, engineering, finance, chemistry, biology, etc). Many pure math students end up getting their PhD so they can work in academia on research. Overall math students can go into a variety of fields including engineering, software development, teaching, finance, and more.
