Man eats both of world's hottest peppers at once, relies on internet's advice for remedies
Last year Dave set out to eat a ghost pepper but the whole thing went horribly wrong in every way possible. He decided that he could do better this year because he was armed with a list of remedies for the heat, all suggested by people commenting on last year’s video.
Dave’s misadventure started with a challenge issued by his wife, Kristy. Dave had playfully complained that her cooking wasn’t spicy enough for him. Kristy is a clever woman, so she ordered seeds for every hot pepper she could find and began growing them in her garden. Dave is a very spoiled man and Kristy’s cooking is actually far better than he deserves, but he couldn’t back down now that he had made his unfortunate statement.
Kristy’s plants grew and the harvest was impressive. When the peppers ripened, Dave took his video camera to her garden and went in search of the infamous Bhut Jolokia, the Ghost Pepper, and he wolfed down a raw one fresh picked from the plant. But as he ran for the hose and stuffed it into his mouth for relief, Kristy realized that he had actually eaten a Trinidad Scorpion pepper. She couldn’t contain her laughter and she alternated between sympathy for her suffering husband and triumphant laughter as he admitted that she had out-spiced his taste buds.
The video of Dave and Kristy’s pepper challenge (Husband wants spicier food, wife gives him Trinidad scorpion pepper) received serious attention on the Rumble Viral YouTube channel and the internet provided Dave with encouragement and advice in the form of 2,500 comments. Much of it was aimed at helping Dave deal with the spice through simple remedies like sandpaper, alcohol, tomatoes, yogurt and milk. With renewed confidence and hundreds of tips from supporters, Dave told Kristy that he was going to eat more of her scorpion peppers and ghost peppers. The internet had also informed Dave that the Carolina Reaper was the world’s hottest pepper and there should be no celebration until he took on the hottest of the hot. Kristy had made Dave a selection of delicious sauces that tipped the Scoville scale and Dave was determined to train for another round with a raw pepper fresh from the garden.
This year, Kristy grew Carolina Reapers and the Trinidad Moruga Scorpion pepper. Depending on what source you believed, both were believed to be the world’s hottest pepper. Because this was hotly debated, Dave decided the only way to handle this was to eat one of each. And he was certain that the remedies suggested would make it all very bearable. Dave got half of each pepper in his mouth, chewed them and swallowed them and waited for the heat to build. It didn’t take long until Dave realized that again, he had bitten off more than he could chew and his whole head was on fire. He turned to the suggested remedies one by one and quickly found out that the well-intentioned advice he had received wasn’t helpful at all. He tried them all in succession, leaving the milk until the end. It was only then that he found any relief.
Dave didn’t plan as well as he thought because he had a bag of milk and no scissors to cut it open. There was no time to waste so he chewed through the bag and began gulping it down. Dave’s solution on the first attempt last year was to spray the hose into his mouth and he eventually resorted to that here as well because even the milk wasn’t putting out the fire. Reluctantly, Dave admitted that he had met his match and asked Kristy to stick to growing jalapenos next year. Dave has learned many things from his experience. He now knows not to challenge Kristy and her cooking (finally). He knows not to try eating two of the world’s hottest peppers at once, and he knows that not everything you read on the internet is true.

Pooch Is Caught Stealing On Camera, And His Reaction Had Us In Stitches
When the cat food was disappearing and the cat was constantly hungry, it was clear that something was amiss. Suspecting that the cat was not getting everything that was set out for her, this family set up cameras to investigate.
The result was a surprise because the cat door had always been too small for the family beagle to fit through. But all that changed after a few months of consistent nightly walks. It seems that Buddha's new-found fitness and weight loss were just what he needed to squeeze through the small opening to where the cat dish is!
If your Beagle dog is left without the necessary exercise and inactive, obesity can be a serious problem. Beagles will eat any food left available to them, so they rely strongly on their owners to regulate their weight. They have been known to jump on tables or on kitchen counters (some even engineer ways to climb up, like pushing chairs around) and steal their owner's food from under their noses!
So if your Beagle is behaving like greedy Buddha here, make sure to set the boundaries straight. Make sure to have them understand which food is their to eat and which isn't and by all means do not feed them scraps from your own dinner table!

Adorable newborn calf thoroughly enjoys face massage
Cows are very gentle and docile creatures. We see them from afar every day, driving past farms where they graze in meadows. If we stop to look at them closely, or even wander among them, we can see that they are surprisingly beautiful animals. They can be naturally curious and even affectionate, if given the chance.
Dave is lucky enough to live near this beautiful farm in Millbrook, Ontario. It's an "ethical farm" where the cows graze on wide expanses of lush, green meadow. There are ponds to drink from, acres and acres to wander, and the meadows are surrounded on three sides by forest and crops. They refuse to produce veal here. These cows are living life as close to what nature intended as possible. The farmers treat their cows almost like pets, and they have a very high regard for herd health.
Dave got to know the farmers and learned about their farming philosophy one year ago when Flo, one of their favorite cows gave birth up against the fence and her calf became stuck outside the field. Dave helped the calf, "Sparky" get back to his mother and he met the farmers in the process.
Since that day, Dave has had a greater appreciation for the importance of this kind of farming, as well as for cows in general. The farmers invited Dave to visit the cows and wander among them whenever he likes. This herd is so well treated and so well accustomed to people that they have no objection to a human joining them in their meadow. With a slow and respectful approach, the mothers will even let Dave sit and pet their newborn calves.
Anyone who understands cattle and farming will tell you that this is exceptional among protective mothers, and it shows the kind of relationships that these cows are used to having with people.
It's a warm, spring day and Giselle is enjoying a little nap in the grass after a big feeding. Her mother is enjoying a little time to relax and graze too. Giselle is only a few days old and she's as adorable as can be.
Dave took his time and approached Giselle and her mother, gradually having a seat beside her. He couldn't resist petting her as if she were a newborn puppy. She lapped up the attention, closing her eyes at times, and even seeming to want more. Just like an affectionate dog, she seemed to enjoy the encounter almost as much as Dave did.
Giselle is still as soft as a plush toy, and her legs are still wobbly. She'll grow quickly in the coming weeks as she nurses and snoozes, and those wobbly legs will become stronger.

Red squirrel completely baffled by peanut prank
"Peanut" is a squirrel who loves his peanuts. Within days, he learned that the treats magically appeared on the cottage deck just as fast as he could whisk them away. He returned every few minutes for another and he ran away to stash each one. But his game was thrown off when he came across one that just couldn't be picked up. This peanut was anchored to the deck by an elastic band that baffled our little friend for a few minutes. It didn't take him long to figure out that he could chew through the elastic and he was in business once again!

Skillful Teppanyaki Chef Performs Amazing Egg Trick
Probably the most entertaining restaurant experience you will find will be at a Teppanyaki restaurant. Teppanyaki chefs train for years to prepare delicious and exciting dishes with incredible speed and precision. Their tools flash and slice the food faster than the eye can see. Chefs also learn how to amaze their diners with some incredible tricks.
Watch in "ah" as this chef cracks an egg in one of the most ridiculous methods ever. Never mind just the egg, he serves some of the food by flicking it onto each diners' plate. What a show. That takes some serious talent! This chef displays his skill at cracking an egg in an extremely unusual and entertaining way. His audience is delighted and applauds his technique!
The video undoubtedly makes a lot of waves as this chef juggles a raw egg with a spatula in a way that seems to defy physics. He handles the egg as if it were a mere ping pong ball. For the finale he catches the egg along the edge of the spatula causing it to split as it leaks onto the stove top ready to be cooked. Viewers are impressed with this feat of egg manipulation reacting with comments of “wow”.
The egg tossing is a standard one among these entertainers. The key is spinning the egg which might create an outward force that causes the egg to land straight down on a single point - much like a top. Doing this would allow the shell’s arch strength to help keep it intact.

GoPro footage captures large snake's amazing escape
Who would have guessed that a 4 foot long milk snake is able to climb out of a large garbage pail with such ease? It also climbs a camera tripod and coiles around the GoPro before slithering away. Milk snakes are a very beneficial predator to have in your yard. In addition to having beautiful markings, they rid your home of vermin like mice and rats. This snake was found in a pile of mulch that was being moved. It was relocated to a safer spot nearby but it escaped in the process, leaving some amazing footage before it disappeared.

Wild Deer Comes Running From The Forest At The Sound Of Apple Crunching
There is a protected forest north of Peterborough, Ontario, where deer thrive. They cannot be hunted here and predators are few. They have become accustomed to the humans who live in the area and will often wander near or watch them curiously from a short distance. This has gone on for generations and the deer know little fear of humans. Because this is a protected sanctuary, the interaction with humans poses no threat.
If you sit quietly in the forest for long enough, you are likely to see deer wander past as they graze and explore. Crunching on a snack can make them even more bold.
This man sat quietly on a log and ate his apple. It seemed that there were no deer to be seen, but suddenly, a small doe ran right to him, hopped over a log and stood in front of him expectantly. The smell of the apple, or the sound of it was obviously too tempting to resist. She watches him curiously as he holds out the apple. On past occasions, these deer have occasionally come close enough to eat out of his hand. This one seems reluctant though and he bites off a piece to share. He tosses a chunk in the grass and the deer sniffs it out.
On very rare occasions, the does will even bring their fawns out of hiding as they visit. It is typical for a doe to hide her fawns in the long grass for hours at a time while they wander off in search of food. They keep an eye from a distance and distract predators, if needed. Communicating with their tails, ears and body language, does will signal danger and fawns will obediently take cover. Bringing them out of hiding in the presence of a human shows enormous trust.
Deer are one of the most beautiful and gentle animals on earth and spending time sitting quietly in a peaceful forest, sharing the silence with such a graceful creatures is an unforgettable experience.

Gigantic bullfrog bellows out a loud croak in the lillypads
Bullfrogs are enormous creatures with an equally enormous voice. Their loud calls can be heard more than one kilometer away. With a baritone voice, they show their dominance and stake their claim on territory, hoping to attract a mate.
Bullfrogs are the largest North American frog, weighing up to 454g (1 pound). They are ambush predators that will eat almost anything they can capture, including insects, other frogs, worms, and even small birds.
Bullfrogs are long living, reaching 7 to 9 years of age in the wild and up to 26 years in captivity. Although adult frogs have lungs and breathe air, they can also absorb oxygen through moist skin. They can obtain some oxygen underwater and are able to remain below the surface between 4 and 7 hours at a time. Females have smaller eardrums in comparison with the males. The eardrums of males are much larger than the eyes, while the eardrums of the females are similar in size to their eyes.
This videographer had a close up encounter with this very large male bullfrog. As the view zooms in on the eye, the videographer is visible in the reflection as he watches the frog at the edge of the shore.

Thrilling ride on 'Leviathan', Canada's tallest roller coaster
The Leviathan is the pride of Canada's Wonderland, the biggest theme park in the country. It is the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Canada and it is ranked number eight in the world. It peaks at 93.3m high (306 feet) and rockets thrill seekers around a track that measures 1.67km (1 mile) in length. The top speed is 148 km/h (92mph) and guests are treated to twists and turns as well as a section that is a banked to a near inversion. This is one of the world's most thrilling rides!
The story behind the construction is quite a tale. The park was determined to have the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the country and the company that builds these tracks was tasked with a job that was bigger and more challenging than any that they had undertaken in the past.
The honour of the first ride on the record-breaking thrill ride was auctioned off to participants willing to pay a price that was almost as steep as the first drop. The total raised was $40,000 which was donated to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto, a world renowned medical centre that accomplishes small miracles every day. This generous act is as impressive as the feat of creating such a massive thrill ride for roller coaster enthusiasts who come here from all around the world.

Sid is a cockatoo with a huge personality and a highly developed sense of humor. He took a liking to Dave but didn't like his glasses. Sid repeatedly yanked them off Dave's face and threw them to the floor. It wasn't clear why Sid was doing this until he started to laugh at his own pranks.
After a few minutes, this became a very entertaining game that had the two of them laughing. Cockatoos are highly intelligent and very social, demanding a lot of attention from their people. Amazingly, Sid even removes the glasses carefully before tossing them aside.
Check out this hilarious Cockatoo!

Tiny bird follows tourist to beg for a drink from his water bottle
This tiny bird lives on a very remote island in the Galapagos. There are no lakes or rivers on the island and no reliable sources of fresh water. The rain that falls has nowhere to collect for any length of time, and the animals have adapted to the long, dry seasons. The islands here have been referred to as "Hell on earth" due to their arid conditions in the summer. They are also called "Islands Born of Fire" because they formed when pillars of molten lava were pushed upwards from the ocean floor, hardening into the land masses we see today. But the islands are also incredibly beautiful, and they are filled with some of the most unique and diverse wildlife on the planet.
On this island, moisture from condensation can occasionally be found in small caves but even this is unreliable. So, when this tourist arrived on the island and hiked along the trails, he found that he had a small companion as he walked the trail along the top of a ridge and through some brush. The birds here have no predators and they rarely see humans. They have not learned to fear people.
This little fellow hopped along on the ground and stopped occasionally to look at the man expectantly. After a few minutes, the tourist stopped and reached for his bottle of water that was strapped to the side of his backpack. He noticed that the bird became very interested in the bottle as he did this. It was then that the man realized the bird was thirsty and had somehow recognized the bottle as a source of water. He opened the top and crouched down. The bird eagerly stuck his beak in the bottle and took a few sips. The man poured some in a small indentation in the rock and also let the bird drink as much as he wanted from the bottle.
Normally, interfering with wildlife, even with good intentions is very unwise. But in this case, the tourist could not resist the request made by a thirsty little bird. His pleading look and fearless nature melted the tourist's heart. He was also in disbelief that such a wild creature would seek water from a human.
The bird watched the man for a few more moments before flying off to the trees.

Scammer calls off duty cop and gets a response he never expected
Phone scammers are constantly trying to come up with new ways to get people to give up their money. They prey on the elderly, the gullible, the fearful, and anyone naive enough to believe them. They are the lowest of the low. A popular ruse over the past few years has been the CRA scam. The CRA is the Canada Revenue Agency, which is the Canadian equivalent of the IRS. The plot is always the same and the caller is authoritative and threatening. He leaves a message that tells the victim that they have committed tax fraud and that they have failed to declare income. They have reported the matter to the police authorities and an arrest warrant has been issued. The caller identifies himself as an officer who is sending the local police to drag the offender off to jail. Surprisingly, a substantial percentage of people actually fall for the scam and they pay the caller the amount that they believe they owe the government. Conveniently, this payment can be made through iTunes, or similar internationally recognized currency.
What this scammer doesn’t realize is that he has left a message at the home of “Dave”, a police officer, who has actually received many complaints about this scam and spends a good part of his week at work warning people about similar ploys. Dave decided to return the call and have a little fun with the pretend officer at the other end. He ended up speaking to “Officer Johns” of the Toronto Police. The officer told Dave not to interrupt and then he explained the alleged fraud for $2399. Much of the long-winded allegation has been edited out to shorten this video, but we can hear that Officer Johns was sending the Millbrook RCMP and the local sheriff to handcuff Dave. He doesn’t understand that there is no such thing as a Sheriff of Millbrook, or even the Millbrook RCMP. If anyone was going to arrest Dave at his home, the call would actually have come through the dispatchers of the Ontario Provincial Police and one of Dave’s coworkers would have been sent to do it.
Dave pleaded with the fraudster, asking if he could explain his story to the police, but he was told that there would be no listening and no mercy. There would only be a prompt and unfriendly arrest. Being very confident that nobody was actually coming to arrest him, Dave took the stapler from his desk and began opening and closing it, imitating the racking action of a shot gun. Trying to sound like a desperate man who has run out of options, he declared that he would blast anyone who came to take him away because he “was not going to jail”. The fraudster left Dave with one last threat that the police were on the way and then he hung up. It seems obvious that he realized he had pushed Dave over the edge of reason.
If you get a call from anyone who asks for money, phone your local police to verify that it’s legitimate. In almost all cases, it’s a scam.

Giant Barracuda Goes Into Attack Mode With Torpedo Speed
Barracuda are apex predators in the waters of the Caribbean. They are ferocious hunters, designed for speed. With their mouth full of teeth that are as large and sharp as those of a big dog, they can take down almost any prey they chose. They grow to six feet in length and are capable of speeds approaching 30mph for short bursts. When full grown, there is no threat in the ocean except sharks, other barracuda and humans.
Although they are highly skilled hunters, barracuda are also opportunistic feeders and they will follow other large fish in the hope of being able to eat some leftover scraps of another's kill. They will tolerate swimmers or scuba divers and a slow and cautious approach will often create little or no reaction from a full grown barracuda.
This five foot long beast can be seen hovering, not far from a dive boat which it was using as camouflage. The barracuda can change its color to blend in with surroundings for added concealment. Its silvery appearance helped it blend in with the upper surface of the water, making it nearly invisible to fish below. The diver filming this video had no idea that he was about to capture the monster explode toward an unsuspecting parrot fish fifty feet down.
A dark colored fish can be seen below as he moves slowly from one coral head to another. He also does not understand the danger fifty feet above. The barracuda flashes his tail and begins an acceleration that takes him to top speed in only a second. He has full intentions of ambushing his dinner from above and pinning it in the sand. He can crush the 12 inch fish in his jaws and swallow him whole. Miraculously, the parrotfish senses the impending attack and he also accelerates toward the coral head behind. The barracuda changes his angle and tries to intercept. The fish below barely escapes as he reaches cover in the nick of time. The barracuda turns away but he will return to his spot above and resume his hunting. Although this particular parrotfish will live another day, there will be some other fish that becomes a meal. The barracuda will catch a fish more frequently than he misses.
Although barracuda occasionally bite humans in cases of mistaken identity, they do not intentionally attack people.
To be able to witness such behaviour was a rare opportunity, but to have the camera pointed in the proper direction and actually record in this case it was sheer luck.

Man Helps Cow Get United With Her Newborn Calf
Flo is a cow who lives on a beautiful farm near Millbrook, Ontario. She spends her days in a lush, green pasture that borders on a country road. The cows have access to a nice pond for drinking and for cooling off in. She shares this pasture with a herd of cows and some newborn calves. Flo delivered a calf herself but it was born on a slope between the pond and the fence. It slid down and under the fence, becoming trapped outside the field. It's not clear how long the calf was lying there, but the fresh umbilical cord showed that it had been born that day. The calf was also dry, which suggested that it had been lying in the sun for a little while. The calf may have tried to get back to its mother but the electric fence made this impossible.
Dave was passing by on the road when he saw the cows enjoying a dip in the pond to get out of the heat. He stopped to film the cows as they did so. He noticed a cow to his left that was acting agitated. Dave doesn't know a lot about cows but he knew it was unusual for a female to scrape the dirt and make so much noise. He set his camera on the fence post and watched, confused by what was going on. He could see that her ear tag said "Flo". He eventually noticed that she was looking through the fence and then back at him. She repeatedly mooed at him and at the fence. She seemed a little frantic as she cried and he walked closer with his camera to see what she was doing. It became obvious that she had been asking for help.
Dave saw her newborn calf in the long grass but he wasn't sure if her behavior had been a cry for help or a warning to stay away from her baby. The calf needed to get milk from the mother and he could also wander out on the road if something wasn't done. There was no gate nearby and Dave didn't want to try carrying and moving the calf far away from Flo. Dave decided that the best way to help was to lift the wires and push the calf under the fence. The calf seemed to be helping a little in the effort, but there was no way to avoid contact with the fence. Flo seemed to understand that her calf was being moved toward her, but Dave was very aware that only a flimsy fence would be between them if she became upset with what was happening. Dave was getting shocked and the calf was too. He hoped it would not cry out in pain before he could get the job done.
Eventually, the calf was on the other side of the fence and reunited with his mom. The two immediately sniffed each other and began walking out into the pasture together. Dave spoke with the farmer and his wife, who did not realize that she had calved. They invited Dave to join them as they tagged the calf's ear and treated the umbilical cord with iodine. They checked the calf and found that it was healthy and unharmed.
Dave took his camera along and filmed the two as they mingled with the herd. The calf wandered up to Dave for a curious sniff, as did Flo, seemingly recognizing him. They both wandered off and Flo's little calf was soon happily nursing as if nothing had happened. Although Dave was slow to catch on, Flo was obviously distressed and was aware that Dave could help her. She looked at him expectantly as she paced between him and her baby in a very clear attempt to communicate. We often underestimate an animal's intelligence and capacity for emotion. Flo showed a healthy amount of both in this case. You can't deny the love she felt for her newborn calf.

Marine iguanas of the Galápagos Islands are a wonder of evolvution
Marine iguanas are fascinating animals that exist in only one place on earth; the Galápagos Islands. They are descended from regular iguanas but they have changed over time so that they can thrive in this beautiful, but hostile environment.
During the dry season there is little vegetation growing in this harsh climate. Food is scarce and competition for what little nourishment there is can be tremendous.
Marine iguanas evolved to be able to live on algae, but the catch is that the algae grows only underwater. The iguanas learned to feed when the tide receded, but competition drove them to seek out algae that grew outside of the intertidal zones. Marine iguanas have developed an ability to hold their breath for up to 30 minutes, allowing them to swim out beyond the surf and into a world full of food. They are able to dive as deep as 30m (100 feet) in search of food. Because the waters around the Galapagos Islands are cold, the iguanas must store up body heat by basking in the sun each morning before venturing out to feed.
Eventually, cold will drive them back onto land where they will stretch out on lava rocks to warm up again. Females and juvenile iguanas are not strong enough to withstand the crashing waves and strong currents as they seek algae. They feed closer to shore in calmer waters and leave the deeper algae to the larger males. Marine iguanas have also evolved to have long, powerful claws so that they can anchor themselves in the surge. Their mouths have shortened and become more suited for chewing on the plant growth that exists on the rock surfaces underwater. These iguanas, and the other animals of the Galapagos Islands helped Charles Darwin form his theory of evolution that changed the way we thing about our planet, as well as our own origins.

Gigantic Galapagos tortoise casually strolls through a restaurant
Galapagos tortoises are incredible animals, instantly recognized by their enormous size and giant armour plated shells. Large enough to fill the passenger compartment of a compact car, they are awe inspiring to look at. But even more incredible than their size is their ability to live to more than 200 years of age.

Scuba diver captures one of the ocean's most bizarre fish
Scuba diving in the waters surrounding the Galapagos Islands is an incredible experience. Adventurers who slip into the water are likely to meet some of the world's most unique and fascinating marine animals. This scuba diver has captured video of a rare and fascinating sight. An adult peacock flounder can be seen swimming in the open.
Flounder are bizarre fish that begin life looking and swimming like typical fish. As they mature, the right eye migrates around the head and situates itself on the left side of the flounder. Both eyes become elevated like tiny periscopes. The flounder swims on its side, flat on the bottom, rarely leaving the cover of the sand and rubble on which it hides.
Flounder can change their pigmentation to mimic the surface they are on, requiring as little as 8 seconds to complete a dramatic change. They are masters of camouflage. In studies with flounders, they have even been able to mimic a checkerboard pattern.
Flounders are mainly nocturnal, hunting for small fish and crabs that make their home along the bottom of the ocean. To see one like this in broad daylight, especially so far from cover is an incredible sight.

Red & black squirrels have vicious fight at bird feeder
Red squirrels and black squirrels do not tolerate each other very well. They compete for food and for territory and they will chase each other at every opportunity. The black squirrel has the advantage over our red furred friend. It is bigger, more aggressive and more territorial.
Black squirrels are actually grey squirrels with a genetic mutation that causes them to have black fur. They are more aggressive and territorial than the grey squirrels too, and the result is that the black squirrels will usually run all the other squirrels out of an area. Black squirrels are even more impervious to the cold than the other squirrels.
A camera mounted at this bird feeder has shown that the black squirrels rule the roost. They will chase the other birds away as well, and even crows will wait until the black squirrel leaves the feeder, unless they can gather in numbers to add some pressure.
Black squirrels are cheeky and greedy and will actually sit at this feeder, leisurely eating peanuts while the other animals wait for a chance to sneak in, grab a peanut and quickly make off to eat it or store it. When this black squirrel stakes his claim and tries to hog the feeder, he didn't count on one very feisty red squirrel interfering with his plan. The red squirrel zips in under the black squirrel and launches an attack that happens so quickly we can barely see what is happening. After a vicious skirmish, baring claws and teeth, the black squirrrel runs off the little red underdog and quickly returns, but he is now under great pressure and he frantically tries to stuff three nuts in his mouth. With his mouth full, he is run off by the red squirrel.
Cheekier than we would expect, the red squirrel screams at the black squirrel not to come back. She then sits and munches on a peanut, but not for long. The black squirrel attacks from above and the fight is back on, as vicious as ever. They end up rolling and clawing at each other. The black squirrel rapidly kicks the red in the face with his back legs. The red squirrel is more agile and knows enough to stay partially under the branch for cover.
The result is a respectable show of spunk as the red squirrel dishes it out almost as well as the black one. In the end, the black squirrel gets more than his share of the peanuts but you can't help but cheer for the red squirrel and her persistence.

Man shares watermelon in the forest with a friendly wild deer
This deer is one of a herd of wild deer that live in a protected area in Northern Ontario. There is no hunting allowed and the animals wander in a quiet and remote forest where there are few humans. But the people that they do see are respectful and non threatening and it is not uncommon to get a close look at a deer grazing in the distance. Sitting quietly, and almost motionless will sometimes tempt the deer to wander very close to have a curious look.
Dave has learned that sitting patiently and munching on an apple or a carrot will even bring the deer close enough to share. He will often toss apple slices or corn to the deer that are brave enough to come close. But he decided to see if they like watermelon. He sliced one open and munched away, hoping the sweet smell of the melon would be a tempting treat. This deer caught the aroma and boldly walked toward him. As he sat still, the deer inched closer and closer until it was able to stick its face right in. It was soon munching away happily as Dave held the watermelon for her.
The other deer in the herd were not so bold so Dave sliced up the melon and spread it around on the grass before walking away. He looked back to see that all the deer were gathered around, enjoying the watermelon just as much as the first.
While it is inadvisable to make wild animals accustomed to humans, this location is a bit of an exception as the deer can never be harmed as a result of forming a trust in people. And if you could sit and watch a wild deer savoring such a tasty treat, would you pass up the opportunity?

Overjoyed puppy's first run in the forest is a beautiful sight
Raven is an eleven month old Great Dane puppy who is full of energy and enthusiasm for anything that is new and fun. Like all dogs, she loves long walks in new places where the smells and sights are novel and interesting. She enjoys a walk down her street several times a week and there is always somebody to greet or a friendly dog to visit, but walks in the forest get her excited like few things do.
Luckily for Raven, she lives in a beautiful area of Ontario, Canada where the nearby forest offers hundreds of trails and a vast expanse of woodland that is rarely busy. She gets walks over new trails several times per week as well. Raven's property is large enough for her to run free and she has been trained to stay in her own yard, so off leash time is frequent for her. Unfortunately, Raven is a spirited puppy with a tendency to forget her manners when she smells or sees a squirrel. For this reason, letting her run free off her property has been unsuccessful. Until now!
Raven's owner has been working hard with her on recall training and leash walking. She has been trying her best and making serious progress, so it seemed like a good day to take her deep in the Ganaraska Forest to test out her progress. Dave unclips Raven's leash and tells her she is free to run. She seems unable to believe her good fortune at first and she stares at him in disbelief for a few seconds. Suddenly she understands that she is no longer restrained and she begins to run like a freight train over the trails and through the trees. Anyone who has ever had a Great Dane knows how they are like a bull in a china shop. They are large and powerful and they don't seem to know their own strength.
Raven gallops like a horse, back and forth, sniffing and exploring. And to her credit, she came running back to Dave every time she was called. A treat and a pat on the head, along with a little praise, was all it took to keep her in check. Raven came across deer and porcupine tracks, and still kept within sight of her human. This is more than a small feat for a puppy like Raven. After 5km (3 miles) of trails through some of the most beautiful forest in North America, Raven was very tired and happy. As they drove away from the forest, she rested her head on Dave's shoulder and seemed on the verge of sleep. She sighed with contentment as she was told that she had been such a good puppy that she would get another chance for running free the following day.
To see an overjoyed Great Dane at full gallop through snowy forest is a breath taking sight!
