Mirroring the events of the Russian Revolution, “Animal Farm” begins with the promise of a “bright, utopian future” for all the animals if they will only revolt to break from the shackles of human ownership. What happens next though reflects an all too common historical pattern, marked by deceit, betrayal and bloodshed. Our basic freedoms are under threat here in America.
