It would have had applique armour weldedin front of the crew positions and additional armour welded to the sides.

The original Sherman design included both cast and welded upper hulls. In the rush to increase production,
Because cast hulls could be manufactured cheaper and faster than welded hulls and since the front is where a good deal of the welding man-hours were spent the development of a new cast front started a front that

The Americans would call this M4 the Composite

The Ferret was produced between 1952 and
1971 by the UK company Daimler.
It was widely adopted by regiments in
the British Army, as well as the RAF Regiment a
nd Commonwealth
countries throughout the period.
During the 1950s, the French army used Daimler Ferret in large
numbers. The French decides to adopt
a new machine-gun and Panhard presents a prototype in 1957
armed with a very rudimentary mortar-gun.
Production of the AML 245 began in 1960.

To counter the threat posed by the massive Soviet

The developed started after the AMC 34 did not meet
expectations, but the AMC35 became a completely new design.
The AMC 35 had about the same dimensions as the AMC 34,
but the hull was longer at 4572 mm to install a
shortened 11.08 litres V-4 180 hp
version of the V-6 engine used in the Char B1.
despite many changes the type was still unfit
for service due to its mechanical unreliability.
But worried by the German remilitarization of the Rhineland
they still ordered seventeen vehicles and
later expanded that order to fifty.

The Town of Bayeux was the first town to be liberated in mainland France on 7 June 1944. The museum is closely located to the memorial garden and the British war cemetery. The museum presents the military operations which took place during 7 June to 29 August 1944 in the Battle of Normandy. All with display cases focusing on the Allied and German soldiers and their equipment and vehicles, the museums provides a lot of information and almost every item is labeled and tells a story. Some interesting vehicles on display are the D7 Dozer and FlakPanzer 38(t) and a Wespe. The museum is a mix of modern and classic displays. And I would highly recommend going to this museum, it's conveniently located with free parking and the British war cemetery and memorial is a walking distance away

it came apparent that the Panzer I, was obsolete
and had no potential as a combat tank anymore
and all new developments were directed towards reconnaissance
or infantry support tanks.
The Panzer I Ausf. F was a completely new design that would
use a few elements of the original Panzer I Ausf. A, B and C. and
would use the same armor layout as the Panzer II Ausf. J.
The design bureau called for the tank to mount the
maximum armour protection possible.
It would be designed with increased armoured and a
new suspension, so it could to assist the infantry
in the attack operations.
Its armor at the front was virtually impenetrable to anti-tank weapons at the time.
It has 80mm frontal armour,
50mm on the side and rear, and 25mm top and bottom. However,
the armour had little to no slope.
Production would start on on December 22, 1939.
But the vehicle would already be cancelled, after on 30

This Panzer I at the Kalemegdan Military Museum, Belgrade
in Serbia, was produced at Krauss-Maffei, Munich,Germany.
It would have seen action in Yugoslavia,
was set ablaze and was abandoned,
after the war it was shipped to Belgarde.

M4A2(76)W E8 HVSS Sherman - Walkaround
Originally uploaded on 22 jun. 2016.
Production of the M4A2 tank began in June 1942 it would have had a welded hull and one piece cast nose, with a 75mm cannon.
And was manufactured by Fisher Tank Arsenal It would have had a GM 6046 twin diesel engine.
This version was produced with all the improvements the other types got, like the large hatch hull.
M4A2 was mostly supplied to other Allied countries under Lend-Lease.
The M4A2 would see limited combat in the US Army and the French and British, would use them the most and then the Russians and USMC in the Pacific.
The M4A2 would perform fairly welland would see service after the war and would see many upgrades
Like the HVSS E8 tracks and, the 76mm M1 gun.
The Horizontal Volute Suspension System was developed to reduce Ground Pressure and keep up with the Shermans additional weight.
The HVSS system had a much wider 23 inch track, but still remained a bolt on module.
It could replace the VVSS suspension on any version of the Sherman or anything based on its hull.
It was very well received and used on many late production Sherman models
and a few of the variants. It solved the flotation problem with no drawbacks.

Panzer IV, Ausf. J. - Walkaround - Musee Des Blindes.
The Panzerkampfwagen IV was designed as the
Versuchs-Kraftfahrzeug 622 in 1934 and
went into production in 1937, and would fit the the short barrel 75 mm gun,
and this would stay the same for the Ausf. A to F.
It would be a a support tank to be used to handle anti-tank guns and
fortifications,
it would work alongside the more numerable Panzer III in Panzer Divisions,
but would changes it's roll in the later part of the war.
The Ausf.F2 or the early Ausf.G started it's production in February 1942,
after development started in 1941 to mount the Pak 38 L/60
into the turret of the Panzer IV, and a prototype was ready in November,
but with new Russian tanks like KV-1s and T-34s,
the 38 was dropped in favor of the new Pak 40 L/46 and a new gun was produced,
the KwK 40 L/43 was fitted with a muzzle-brake and the first prototype
was ready in 1942. But in June 1942, the F2 was renamed Ausf.G,
and this would pretty much make every long barreled Panzer IV, the Ausf.G.
The Ausf.H had the biggest production of the all,
with a total of 3774 produced by June of 1944.
big changes made to the H were the new KwK 40 L/48,
which the Late G already had,
and the removal of the hull side vision ports, with Schurzen and Zimmerit paste.
The Ausf.J was a retrograde from the H, it addressed
the mobility problems the Panzer IV had with the G and H and
was simplify to make production of the tank easier,
and make it more suitable for mass-production.
The electric generator that powered the tank’s turret traverse was
removed so the turret had to be rotated manually.
The electric turret traverse was sacrificed for an
additional 200 liters of fuel capacity, remaining pistol and
vision ports on the turret side hatches were removed and
the engine’s radiator housing was simplified and Zimmerit and
the Schurzen would not be applied anymore,
and the side armour would be replaced by Thoma type wire-mesh panels.
Armour quality was also decreased, because of Allied bombings and
plates which should have been face-hardened for the Panzer IV were
instead made with rolled homogeneous armour plating.
A total of 1,700 to 2900 Panzer IV Ausf J were
produced before the war ended.
This Panzer IV with Fahrgestell number 89660 was built
by Nibelungenwerke, Germany,in March 1944.
It was send to the Etalblissement Technique de
Bourges fire ranges and placed on a firerange.
It was a wreck when it was
recoverd and large chunks of armour were missing in the turret and hull roof.
It was restored by the Cadman Brothers and
later send to the Saumur Tank Museum.

Tiger II "Köningstiger" - Musee Des Blindes - Walkaround.
Originally uploaded on 12 jun. 2016
The Tiger II was a German heavy tank of WWII.
The tank was designated as Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B,
and the ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 182.
It was never called Königstiger during the war just like the Allied name King Tiger or Royal Tiger, King Tiger was the American name for the vehicle after a wrong translation after the war.
The Tiger II was the successor to the Tiger I, combining the latter's thick armour with the armour sloping used on the Panther medium tank.
Development of a heavy tank design had been initiated in 1937, the initial design contract was
awarded to Henschel. Another design contract followed in 1939, and was given to Porsche.
The Henschel version used a conventional hull design with sloped armour resembling the layout of the Panther tank, Porsche hull designs included a rear-mounted turret, a mid-mounted engine and the same suspension as on the Elefant tank destroyer.
Both prototypes would use the same turret design from Krupp and Porsche and Henschel never designed any turrets.
The early turret design was changed to the later one because the design was difficult to manufacture because of the curved bulge.
Even due the Tiger II was a mechanical nightmare, the heavy armour and powerful long-range gun gave the Tiger II an advantage against all opposing Western Allied and Soviet tanks attempting to engage it from head on, and no tank could actually go into a head to head combat scenario with the machine until the arrival of the few M26 Pershings in 1945 and the few M4A3E2 Sherman "Jumbos".
Reports estimated that the Tiger II's frontal aspect was impervious to the Soviet 122 mm D-25T, the largest caliber tank gun of the war.
As a result of its thick frontal armour, flanking man-oeuvres were most often used against the Tiger II to attempt a shot at the thinner side and rear armour.
The armour of the Tiger II also proofed to be from a really poor quality and the plates exhibited deficiencies in quality compared to earlier German tanks such as the Tiger I and Panther. and even when shells did not penetrate the armour, there was often a large amount of spalling from the inside of the plates, which damaged the transmission and rendered the tank inoperable.
This Tiger II with Fahrgestell number 280112, was made at the Henschel und Sohn, Kassel, Nordhessen, the turret was made at Wegmann & Co, Kassel, Nordhessen, Germany.
Some sources claim that this Tiger II, belonged to the 1st Company, 101 SS.s.Abt and carried the turret number 233, others claim that it was a Tiger which carried no turret number, but this information is wrong because you can clearly see a 3, on the turret in some pictures.
It was placed in storage after the war and left in perfect running condition.

StuG Ausf.G.- Sturmgeschütz III Walkaround - Musee Des Blindes.
The role of a self-propelled gun came from combat experiences in
WWI and from Von Manstein’s “Sturmartillerie” concept.
During the German offensives on the Allied front, infantry lacked artillery support against fortifications in places out-ranged by their heavy artillery behind the lines.
A need for a mobile artillery piece was necessary to keep up with the German infantry and fight enemy fortifications with a direct-fire assault role.
On June 15, 1936, Daimler-Benz AG was ordered to develop a support vehicle mounting the 75 mm howitzer as its armament in a casemate structure with a traverse of 25 degrees.
The vehicle was to provide full protection for its crew and be no taller than an average soldier.
Daimler-Benz repurposed the chassis and running gear of their Panzer III design for the role.
These new vehicles were named the Sturmgeschutz III, and the finished designs were sent to Alkett for prototype production and five were produced in 1937.
These prototypes were made of mild steel and had the 75 mm StuK 37 L/24 cannon, an adaption of the original 75 mm KwK 37 cannon on the Panzer IV.
This gun would be featured on the StuG III variants Ausf. A to Ausf. E.
The StuG III entered production from January 1940 to the end of the war on April 1945 due to the many upgrades done on the vehicle to increase serviceability and its low cost. At about a total production of 11,300 StuG III and its variants, the StuG III design was the most produced armoured
fighting vehicle in German service.
Only 36 Ausf.As were produced by Daimler-Benz AG between January and May 1940.
The Ausf.C was nearly identical to previous versions and was only produced for a single month.
The Ausf.D was virtually identical, only receiving an on-board intercom. 150 were delivered between May and September 1941. It was simply an upgrade of the C on the production line.
The Ausf.F was an huge improvement and to counter the new Soviet tanks AFV
had an urgent need for high velocity guns.
It appeared on the production line in March 1942. it had the new 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/43.
The Ausf.F8 appeared in September 1942 and 250 vehicles were
built up to December.
The name was derived from the chassis version of the Panzer III it was based on, the Ausf.J/L, which had increased rear armor.
It was armed, with the 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48.
The Ausf G stood apart from the other production versions.
It was, in essence, the main production run for the entire StuG series,
with more than 8400 rolling of the line from December 1942 to April 1945.
to reduce costs the G was simplification and standardization.
with a new simplified superstructure.
the casemate sides were extended for extra storage
allowed to store even more rounds and
the side sloped armored boxes were eliminated
The engine/fighting compartment
rear wall was strengthened, the ventilation fan relocated further back and
appliqué armor
was standardized. Furthermore,
the upper MG 34 was factory-fitted, protected by a squared mask.
This StuG III Ausf. G can be viewed at the Saumur Tank Museum.
Unfortunately this StuG has no recorded hisory.
It was sent to the Saumur scrapyard after the war and was shipped
to the collection of the Musee des Blindes.
Today you can still see some leftover Zimmerit
on the chassis of the vehicle.

Destroyed Sherman Firefly Turret Bastogne
This old Belgium Sherman Firefly postwar turret can be found at the Nuts Castle Hotel at Bastogne.
After the service of the Firefly the vehicle was shipped to the Bastogne Barracks and the turret was placed at the Musee en Piconrue in Bastogne and was then placed here.
The turret probably came from the Sherman Firefly hull, that was used in the restoration of the Sherman tank at the Bastogne War Museum.

StuH 42 - Sturmhaubitze 42 Ausf.G. - Walkaround - Musee Des Blindes.
The StuH 42 was developed in 1942, as a variant of the StuG III Ausf.F with a 105 mm howitzer under the ordnance name Sturmhaubitze 42, Sd.Kfz.142/2. It was a late reversion to the close infantry support rôle, but with a more modern chassis, as more Ausf.F/8s and Ausf.Gs were used for the antitank rôle.
The late version would see many chances to save material and the muzzle break was dropped.
About 1300 vehicles were built by Alkett from March 1943 to March 1945, after an initial delivery of 12 vehicles tested from repaired F and F/8s between the fall of 1942 and January 1943.
This StuH 42 or Sturmhaubitze 42 Ausf. G can be viewed at the Saumur Tank Museum.
Unfortunately this StuH has no recorded hisory. It was sent to the Saumur scrapyard after the war and was shipped to the collection of the Musee des Blindes.
Today you can still see some leftover Zimmerit on the chassis of the vehicle.

Destroyed Sherman Turret at the Bunker Assenois Bastogne.
This destroyed Sherman turret at the Bunker Assenois at Bastogne, the turret was one of a few placed at roads leading into Bastogne, these were place around Bastogne after the war, and all came from Sherman tanks found around Bastogne.
These Turrets would mark the frontlines during the Battle of the Bulge and would show how far
the Germans would have come.
Most of the turrets were removed over the years and relocated.
The Bunker Assenois is a pre-war Belgian Army bunker, that was the scene of the now famous breakthrough at Bastogne.
Here C Company, 37th Tank Battalion (4th Armored Division) joined elements of the 326th Airborne Engineers (101st Airborne Division).

Panzerwerfer 42 Maultier Walkaround - Musée Des Blindes.
Originally uploaded on 29 oct. 2016
The 15cm Panzerwerfer 42 auf Selbstfahrlafette Sd.Kfz.4 / 1 was a rocket launcher on a armoured half-track vehicle developed to provide fire support for infantry.
Production started in 1942 by the Opel company on the basis of a Maultier half track.
It would see it's first action in the Eastern Front in fall of 1943.
The vehicle proofed to be less effective then normal artillery, but covered a much larger area and
had a psychological effect on the enemy.
The vehicle would also see action in Normandy,
the Battle of the Bulge and even Berlin.
It would be produced from April 1943 to March 1944 along with its associated ammunition vehicle,
the Sd.Kfz. 4. In total Opel produced 296 Panzerwerfer 42 and 251 of the ammunition vehicles Sd.Kfz. 4.
This Panzerwerfer is in running condition and was probably captured by the British forces and used by the British for a short time.
It has penetrating hits on all sides.
Its not known if this was done by the British after it was captured or it is original battle damaged.

M4A1(75) Sherman Dozer - Walkaround - Ettelbruck.
M4A1(75) Sherman Dozer Walkaround - Ettelbruck.
Production of the M4A1 tank began in February 1942
after the British placed an order,
it would have had a cast nose, turret and a one-piece cast hull,
with a 75mm cannon.
The A1 was manufactured by Lima Locomotive Works.
These tanks were designed on British specs and were fitted
with the Continental R-975 air-cooled radial engine.
The M4A1 would be replaced on December 1943,
by the M4A1(76)w, which received a more
recent 76 mm M1 main gun.
Some of the M4A1 tanks would be the base of
the special attachment dozerblade.
British variants formed part of the group of
specialized vehicles collectively known as "Hobart's Funnies".
This Sherman Dozer has no historical information and
was placed here in the 1960, ofcourse the blade was removed
so it could be placed here as a monument.

Abandoned Sherman Tanks Ardennes - Battle of the Bulge.
This site in the Belgium Ardennes is mostly known
as an abandoned site under the Urbex community,
but in recent times the site has been cleaned up
and a new building was constructed.
The vehicles that can be found here are several
Sherman Hybrid Ic and VC Firefly tanks, and
other Sherman hulls can also be found here,
some are covered with overgrowth.
A lot of these vehicles came from the
Elsenborn fire range, in Belgium.
This is a undisclosed location, so please don't
give away the location in the comments below
people will only go there to trash it.

Battlefield Tour Foy Foxholes - 101st Airborne Battlefield and Monument.
The Fake Foxholes of Le Bois Jacques - 101st Airborne Monument
History:
Foy was a small village occupied by the Germans in
the early stages of the Battle of the Bulge.
It's just 4 kilometers to the north of Bastogne on the road to Houffalize.
The American 101st Airborne Division held the Bois Jacques or Jacques Woods,
up a slight rise outside Foy.
The battle saw Foy change hands four times,
with the Americans ultimately recapturing the town from the Germans.
On 20 December 1944, the Germans took the town
of Foy from 1st Battalion, US 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment,
US 101st Airborne Division, suffering heavy losses in the
process 500-1,000 German troops and 30 tanks were lost,
while 199 US soldiers and 13 officers were lost.
The American paratroopers, including Easy Company,
counterattacked on 9 January 1945 with assistance from artillery,
and they repelled a counterattack
at 4:15 AM on 14 January 1945. The Germans later sent in 14 tanks
and a whole battalion to retake the town,
and they succeeded. However, the Americans counterattacked at 9:30 AM,
and they suffered significant losses
due to a lack of cover in the open and snowy fields and
during the house-to-house fighting.
Today:
Stephen Ambrose's Band of Brothers
describes how its Easy Company of the 2nd Battalion,
506th Parachute Infantry
Regiment led the assault to capture the town in January, 1945.
The series would make the site become popular under tourists
slowly turning the place into a fake tourist-trap.
Many foxholes can still be found in Jack's Woods,
but most of them are fake especially the once that
are now behind a gate.
To make the side feel even more cheap, since 2022
you have to pay to see the side, which makes it feel dirty.
You can get these tickets at the Bastogne war museum.
But I would recommend you don't pay for this site
and just walk into the forest and you will get
more of a genuine experience.
The defense many people seem to give is that the
pay-gate is there to protect the site, but if this is the case
why are they still cutting down trees and making fake foxholes,
doing this has destroyed the site many times over, and over again.
The site is also a 'treefarm' which means the tree will get harvested every 40 to 50 years, and this tree farm was harvested in the 1960s. making the survival of the original foxholes impossible.
