The legalization of recreational marijuana in Michigan has had quite an impact. June was a record month with recreational sales of over $254 million, and medicinal sales close to $7 million. With all that cash flowing, the tax dollars from those sales are also making record profits for the state. The marijuana industry from a retail standpoint has been budding recently for consumers as prices drop for some products.

A custody battle led to gunshots being fired on Gratiot Avenue Tuesday. It was a chaotic scene that spanned multiple cities and counties in metro Detroit. It happened on Tuesday around 4 p.m. starting in Mount Clemens and ending in Dearborn, with incidents in Eastpointe and Roseville. Grady’s Lounge in Roseville has been around since 1984 and now has a giant hole in the brick wall, after one of the cars involved spun out of control. The incident was captured by the bar’s surveillance camera.

Dry weather returns today and continues into Saturday. Rain and storms arrive Sunday and rain could be heavy, at times, into Monday.

A woman has died and a man is in stable condition after a domestic shooting Thursday, according to Saline police. Investigators said a man shot his ex-girlfriend and her male acquaintance. It happened around 11:35 a.m. on Woodland Drive near N. Maple Road in a United Auto Workers hall parking lot. The police chief said employees at an assisted living facility across the road parked in the lot for the day. Chief Marlene Radzik said the 58-year-old suspect was waiting for his ex-girlfriend to leave the facility. The woman and her male acquaintance took a smoke break. That’s when the woman’s ex-boyfriend opened fire.

The FBI is looking to identify potential victims of a man who was just arrested and charged with interstate kidnapping in Oregon. Negasi Zuberi (Sakima) posed as an undercover police officer when he kidnapped the woman in Seattle three weeks ago, drove hundreds of miles to his home in Klamath Falls and locked her in the garage cell until she bloodied her hands breaking through the door to escape, the FBI said Wednesday.

Northbound I-75 remains closed at I-696 after a truck carrying hot asphalt crashed and then caught on fire. It happened around 6:10 p.m. Friday, and crews were able to extinguish the fire, however, there was damage to the median wall. The road had to be shut down for crews to work on construction, and it remains closed as of 5:30 a.m. Friday morning.
