A man wanted on a first-degree murder charge from New York died during a shooting involving the U.S. Marshals Service and other local agencies in Riverview Tuesday. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the Marshals Service was conducting surveillance on the murder suspect, Don Robert Astor, 39, and saw him leaving an area in a car driven by his son, Angel Torres Vallejo.

Florida families are warning people about the dangers of fentanyl on National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody joined first responders, Pasco County leaders, and families who lost loved ones from fentanyl overdoes. She held a press conference on Monday in Pasco County. She said Pasco and Pinellas Counties had the most fentanyl deaths statewide last year.

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) recently questioned if a 12% rate increase was justified and told Citizens to report back with a smaller rate hike in 30 days.

Neighbors living near the San Martin Boulevard Bridge in St. Pete will have to get used to construction for the next year or two. The city has fast-tracked a project scheduled for 2025 to replace aging wastewater pipes nearby. That's because, over the weekend, a broken main dumped more than 10,000 gallons of wastewater into Riviera Bay.

An Odessa man is suing the City of St. Petersburg, alleging the city didn’t correctly record a 50-foot easement through his property. The city blames his title company and said the easement contains pipes supplying water to 360,000 residents. Tampa nonprofit Project DYNAMO said they were among the first to respond to help rescue Americans from the fires on Maui, but they claim more lives could have been saved if government aid had responded faster.
