Arrest warrant issued for Butler County animal rescue owner following grizzly discovery

At least 30 dead dogs and 86 living dogs were discovered and seized at an animal shelter in Madison Township called Helping Hands for Furry Paws, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said adult dogs and puppies were being kept in different structures on two different properties in the township. The silos were constructed in 1925 to house grain, but the company went bankrupt in 1986. It had three different owners in less than 20 years, and was originally slated for demolition in 2008. But asbestos was discovered, which made the demolition dangerous and expensive. The silos sat partially demolished ever since, until the port got the money to finish the job.

The water in Caesar Creek Lake has tested positive for E. Coli, according to Park Manager Tiffany DeChant-Hunt. The Ohio Department Of Natural Resources (ODNR) tests the water at least every two weeks during the busy summer months. And the most recent positive test is from July 26, DeChant-Hunt said. The bacteria was found in the waters surrounding the lake's public beach, according to DeChant-Hunt. She also told WCPO that the E. Coli tests came back negative at the campground's swim area.

First responders are working to save at least two people trapped in rising water in the Whitewater River. There is an active water rescue happening right now near the 2000 block of Lenmary Road in Franklin County Indiana, according to Franklin County dispatch.

A spokesperson for the Community Correctional Center said from preliminary review, they have not had anyone else escape the facility since 2019. Three clients have escaped staff while out in the community.
