Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister Patrick Gorman says inflation is “heading in the right direction”. The annual rate of inflation in the March quarter has dropped to 3.6 per cent. The latest figures, released on Wednesday by the Australian Bureau of Statistics, revealed annual CPI inflation in the March 2024 quarter was at 3.6 per cent, lower than the 4.1 per cent annual rise in the December quarter. “Inflation is running at about half of what it was when we came to office – that’s inflation heading in the right direction,” Mr Gorman told Sky News Australia. “We’ll continue to make sure that, where we can, take pressure off inflation.”
