US President Joe Biden says during a speech on the war on Gaza that Israel has put forward a new ceasefire proposal that has been transmitted to Hamas via Qatar. “That’s been the focus, a durable end to this war, one that brings all the hostages home, ensures Israel’s security, creates a better day after in Gaza without Hamas in power, and sets the stage for a political settlement that provides a better future for Israelis and Palestinians alike.”

India has reacted to Israel's air strike on displacement camps in Rafah on May 26 that killed around 45 people and injured over 200. Former United States President Donald Trump has been convicted in the 2016 hush money case. Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts and could be jailed for 34 years. NATO Nation Slovenia has followed in the footsteps of Norway, Spain and Ireland. The Slovenian government has approved the decision to recognise an independent Palestinian state. The Slovenian Parliament must now approve the government's decision. Russia's Black Sea fleet thwarted Ukraine's fresh attempt to target Crimea. The Russian Navy destroyed four Ukrainian naval drone boats in the northwestern part of the Black Sea on May 30. The United States has allowed Ukraine to use American-supplied weapons to strike inside Russia. “The president recently directed his team to ensure that Ukraine is able to use US supplied-weapons for counterfire purposes in Kharkiv so Ukraine can hit back at Russian forces hitting them or preparing to hit them,” the White House said in a statement. Hamas refuses to participate in indirect negotiations with Israel amidst ongoing aggression in Rafah. The Palestinian Group demands a "complete agreement" that includes a permanent ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, and the return of displaced families. Hamas is open to a hostage and prisoner exchange if Israel halts its war on Gaza. On May 31, the Israeli military confirmed the deaths of two more soldiers in Gaza ground operations. One soldier was killed in northern Gaza, while the other died in the southern region on May 30. Sergeant (Reserve) Adar Gavriel was killed in the northern Gaza Strip during a battle with Hamas operatives, as reported by the IDF. Sergeant Yehonatan Elias was killed as a result of anti-tank missile fire in the southern Gaza Strip. These latest casualties bring the Israeli military's toll in the Gaza ground offensive to 294. Israel is currently withdrawing its army from several northern Gaza areas, according to reports on May 31. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad has released a new video featuring Israeli-Russian hostage Sasha. The 28-year-old named Alexander Trufanov, was kidnapped by Hamas militants on October 7, 2023. In the latest video by PIJ, Sasha is heard criticizing the Netanyahu government. The nearly 3-minute-long video shows Sasha appealing for a ceasefire and to be brought back home. The US and UK launched their first airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen in several months on May 30. According to the Houthis' Al-Masirah television, the coalition airstrikes in Yemen's Hodeidah province resulted in 16 fatalities and 35 injuries. According to the US and British forces, their operations against Houthi sites were an attempt to dissuade the rebel group from causing more disruptions to trade in the Red Sea.
