El Chapo's Henchman Handed Over To USA In Chains
This is the moment El Chapo's trusted henchman is led in chains to a police vehicle to be handed over to the American authorities for extradition to the USA.
The head of security for El Chapo Guzman, named as Jorge Ivan Gastelum Avila, has been flown to America to face justice, Mexican officials revealed on Sunday, 2nd April.
Gastelum Avila, nicknamed 'El Cholo Ivan', is accused of being central to the trafficking of huge quantities of drugs to the USA.
Video footage of his final moments in a Mexican jail shows him in a grey prison jumpsuit with steel leg shackles as he is walked towards a police van.
Around his waist, a second set of shackles secure his hands as he moves slowly forward surrounded by police officers.
The gangster was handed over to the American authorities at the Mexico City International Airport, according to the Mexican Attorney General's Office.
His former boss El Chapo is already serving a life sentence in the supermax jail ADX Florence in Colorado.
Newsflash obtained a statement from the Mexican Attorney General's Office dated Sunday, 2nd April, saying: "In compliance with the Extradition Treaty signed between Mexico and the United States of America, the Attorney General's Office of the Republic (FGR), delivered to the government of that country a fugitive of Mexican nationality requested by the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia, United States of America for the crimes of criminal association, against health and using, brandishing and discharging a firearm.
"Jorge 'G.' is accused of belonging to a criminal organisation and one of the leaders of the Sinaloa [cartel]; responsible for the trafficking of various amounts of drugs to the United States of America.
"The Government of Mexico granted the extradition of the defendant to the Government of the United States of America.
"The fugitive was handed over at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) to the US agents designated for his transfer to that country."
The ruthless gangster will face charges in a New York court, including criminal association in order to distribute cocaine and cannabis in the US.
American investigators say El Cholo Ivan controlled drug trafficking in Guamuchil, in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, and commanded an armed group of around 200 men.
They say he also provided security for El Chapo.
The same investigation found that El Cholo Ivan attacked rival criminal organisations, as well as Mexican law enforcement to carry out his boss' orders.
He was arrested along with El Chapo on 8th January 2016 on the Los Mochis-Navojoa highway.

Ancient Roman Treasure Left Gathering Dust On A Shelf
Antiquities experts have put on show a stunning display of ancient Roman gold jewellery buried with a young girl to save her from evil spirits in the afterlife.
The haul was originally found in a lead-lined coffin which had been buried nearly 2,000 years ago.
But astonishingly, it had been left gathering dust on an archive shelf in Israel for more than 50 years.
The treasures had been discovered in a burial cave on Mount Scopus in 1971 by the late archaeologist Yael Adler.
The jewellery includes gold earrings, a hairpin, a gold pendant and gold beads, carnelian beads and a glass bead.
The items inside were inscribed with symbols of Luna - the Roman moon goddess - and were believed to have the ability to provide protection in the afterlife.
After their discovery, the relics were noted and archived and then apparently completely forgotten.
It was not until experts from the Israeli Antiquities Authority set up a project to discover lost treasures that they re-emerged.
Now the jewellery is on display to the public for the first time at the 48th Archaeological Congress organized by the Israel Antiquities Authority, the Israel Exploration Society and the Israel Archaeological Association.
Eli Escusido, Director of the Israel Antiquities Authority, is quoted in a statement obtained by Newsflash from Israel Antiquities Authority as saying: “The interring of the jewellery together with the young girl is touching.
"One can imagine that their parents or relatives parted from the girl, either adorned with the jewellery, or possibly lying by her side, and thinking of the protection that the jewellery provided in the world to come.”
The experts believe the girl probably had the jewellery in her lifetime, and after her death it was buried with her for protection.
According to the research, two similar gold earrings were discovered in another excavation carried out by Prof. Vassilios Tzaferis on behalf of the Department of Antiquities on the Mount of Olives in 1975.
The statement says: "It seems that the girl was buried with an expensive set of gold jewellery that included earrings, a chain with a lunula pendant (named after the goddess Luna), and a hairpin,” according to a report by the researchers.
They continued: “These items of jewellery are known in the Roman world and are characteristic of young girl burials, possibly providing evidence of the people who were buried at these sites. Late Roman Jerusalem—renamed Aelia Capitolina—had a mixed population that reached the city after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple and the evacuation of the Jewish population.
"People from different parts of the Roman Empire settled in the city, bringing with them a different set of values, beliefs and rituals. The pagan cult of the city’s new population was rich and varied, including gods and goddesses, among them the cult of the moon goddess Luna.”

Police Rescue Ducklings Stuck In Swimming Pool
The police thought they were quacking up when they were called to an emergency at a swimming pool - to rescue a mother duck and her ducklings.
The birds had piled into the open-air pool in Seminole County, in the US state of Florida, after apparently losing their way to their pond.
So officers were scrambled to pluck the ducks out of the pool and take them back to their home.
Adorable police bodycam footage shows the officers scooping up the four ducklings as they waddle around the grounds jumping in and out of the pool.
One officer is seen cooing to a tiny duckling in her hand as the youngster's irritated mother runs around her.

Early-Spring Inferno Wreaks Havoc 2
This apocalyptic footage shows a wildfire raging near a village in eastern Spain, even though it has only just turned spring.
The footage was filmed in Villanueva de Viver, Castellon Province, and posted online on 27th March.
The Castellon Province Fire Department said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: "We would not have liked to have to record these images.
"Unfortunately, meteorology has once again been the great ally of Villanueva de Viver wildfire.
"Today, the priority is on defending population centres such as Montan and Fuente la Reina. We are heading into the fifth night of the fire."
Local media reported that firefighters battled to stop the flames from reaching the population centre of Montan.
They also worked round the clock to prevent the fire from spreading to the Sierra de Espadan natural park and nearby cattle farms.
Montan was evacuated on 24th March, with mayor Sergio Fornas telling local media: "Years ago, there was already a pretty big fire and we are always in the same situation because everything is very dry and abandoned.
"When it comes to cleaning up the forests, we don't have any help and it's something we must change together.
"They don't let us do what we would like to do, we want to protect the forests but we encounter many bureaucratic problems."
He said that the evacuation "was not easy because there were many elderly people and we have, for example, 70 people in the nursing home".
He also said that town halls should have more facilities "to create a firebreak or cut down a pine forest".
The mayor added: "They don't let you because they think they are protecting it, but it's a nightmare and then what happens, happens."
The villages of Torralba del Pinar, Pavias, and Higueras were also evacuated, while inhabitants of Caudiel were ordered to remain indoors.
Local weather conditions on 27th March saw gusts of more than 50 km/h (31 mph) and less than 20 per cent humidity.
The government of the Valencia region said the conditions were "testing the agencies involved in the extinction".
Gusts of more than 70 km/h (43 mph) and less than 20 per cent humidity is forecasted for today (30th March) and tomorrow.
Some 300 ground troops and 17 aerial units are still tackling the flames, which have scorched 4,700 hectares (11,614 acres) of land to date.
As of 27th March, 1,700 people had been evacuated from their homes.

FIN AMAZING: 6,000-Year-Old Fishhook Was Used To Catch Sharks
Archaeologists in Israel have found a 6,000-year-old copper fishhook so large it may have been used to catch sharks.
The piece, which was unearthed during infrastructure work in the coastal city of Ashkelon, is 2.6 inches long and 1.6 inches wide.
Its size means it would have been used to catch sharks or other large fish in the Mediterranean during the Copper Age.
Yael Abadi-Reiss from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), who called the find "luck, pure luck", commented on how well-preserved the piece was given its age.
She said: "It was so big and beautiful that we thought it might be from another period but it wasn't."
The fishhook had turned green, but the researchers cleaned it. Abadi-Reiss said: "It's so big that even if its external coating was damaged, a lot remained."
In a statement obtained by Newsflash, the IAA said: "A 6,000-year-old copper fishhook - one of the oldest known in the world - possibly for fishing sharks or very large fish, was discovered in the Israel Antiquity Authority excavations carried out prior to the construction of the new Agamim neighborhood in Ashkelon in 2018."
According to Dr Yael Abadi-Reiss, co-director of the excavation together with Dr Daniel Varga, both from the Israel Antiquity Authority: "This unique find is 6.5 cm long and 4 cm wide, its large dimensions making it suitable for hunting 2-3 m long sharks or large tuna fish.
"More ancient fishhooks found previously were made of bone and were much smaller than this one.
"The use of copper began in the Chalcolithic period and it is fascinating to discover that this technological innovation was applied in antiquity for the production of fishhooks for fishermen along the Mediterranean coast."
The IAA said: "In the Chalcolithic period, there were large villages around Ashkelon, whose economy was based on branches of agriculture still common today, such as the pasturing of sheep, goat and cattle, the cultivation of wheat, barley and legumes and the tending of fruit orchards."
Dr Abadi-Reiss said: "We learn about the dietary habits of the people who lived here 6,000 years ago from the remains of animal bones found in ancient rubbish pits, from burnt wheat grains found in ovens, and from the hunting, cooking and food-processing tools retrieved, including flint sickles, and a variety of pottery vessels that served for the storage, cooking and the conservation of food by fermentation and salting.
"The rare fishhook tells the story of the village fishermen who sailed out to sea in their boats and cast the newly invented copper fishhook into the water, hoping to add coastal sharks to the menu."
The IAA said: "The research on the copper fishhook is being undertaken by Dr. Yotam Asscher of the Israel Antiquity Authority and Magda Batiashvilli, and we await new discoveries on this fascinating artifact."

Russians Fly Over Arctic In Balloon And Claim Longest Flight World Record 2
Two Russians have flown over the Arctic in a hot air balloon and claim to have broken the world record for the longest non-stop flight distance in a thermal balloon.
The Russian authorities claim that famous Russian balloonist Fedor Konyukhov and the President of the Russian Ballooning Federation, Ivan Menyailo, flew 2,540 kilometres (1,578 miles).
This is 174 kilometres (108 miles) more than the previous record of 2,366 kilometres (1,470 miles) set by Michio Kanda in 1994.
Konyukhov reportedly took off in a balloon from the Murmansk region on 24th March and landed in Khatanga in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The balloon reportedly flew over the Arkhangelsk, Nenets, and Yamalo-Nenets regions.
The first piece of footage reportedly shows the balloon, sporting the colours of the Russian flag, taking off, with the second piece of footage filmed previously and showing the balloon being inflated.
Newsflash obtained a first statement from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry on Wednesday, 22nd March, announcing the attempt to break the world record.
It said: "The safety of the pilots from the ground will be monitored by rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia
"Today, in Kirovsk in the Murmansk region, the crew met with the employees of the Main Directorate of the department for the region and the Murmansk Arctic Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Centre of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
"The largest air balloon in the history of domestic aeronautics has been specially created for the flight - it will be piloted by Fyodor Konyukhov and the president of the Federation of Aeronautical Sports of Russia Ivan Menyaylo.
"The air balloon will take off on Friday, 24th March in the morning."
The statement continued: "And already at the end of this week, on 26th March, the Arctic expedition of the Russian Emergencies Ministry will start.
"Its participants will overcome about 1,600 kilometres off-road and in the real conditions of the north they will test the latest domestic models of machinery and equipment."
Newsflash obtained a second statement from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry on Friday, 24th March, saying: "The safety of the record balloon flight is under the control of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
"Rescuers of the Murmansk region have organised cooperation with the ground headquarters of the journey of traveller Fyodor Konyukhov and the president of the Federation of Aeronautical Sports of Russia Ivan Menyaylo.
"Weather conditions allowed the air expedition to take off as planned, today at 5am."
And on Sunday, 26th March, the Russian state-owned news agency TASS claimed that the record had been broken, saying that Konyukhov and Menyailo had landed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory after flying 2,540 kilometres.
Konyukhov said on Facebook: "During the transcontinental flight, the 'PhosAgro' hot air balloon piloted by Fedor Konyukhov and Ivan Menyaylo covered a distance of 2,540 kilometres, which is 174 kilometres more than the previous world record set in 1994 by Japanese pilot Michio Kanda.
"Thus, both world records for the distance and duration of non-stop flight in a hot air balloon now belong to Russia.
"Starting early on 24th March in Kirovsk, Murmansk region, the balloon, flying at an altitude of three to six kilometres, passed through the airspace of the Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions, the Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets autonomous districts, as well as the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
"After crossing the Putorana Plateau, known for its harsh weather conditions, on 26 March at 03.24 Moscow time, the 'PhosAgro' balloon made a precise landing on the runway of the Khatanga airport located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, at 72 degrees north latitude!"
It is currently unclear if the new world record that the Russians claim to have broken has been validated by Guinness World Records.

Multiple calls alerted the police to the incident at a home on 4100 W. Alta Vista Rd.
Upon arrival, officers found an injured elderly woman lying in front of the house.
Inside, the suspect was seen holding two knives while kneeling behind another injured woman.
Despite several police commands, the suspect continued to assault the woman, leading an officer to fire his rifle and strike the man.
The elderly victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the second injured woman later died at the hospital.
The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene, and additional knives were seized as evidence.
The investigation is ongoing.
