WAR IN UKRAINE: Ukrainian Drone Drops Bombs On Russian Soldiers Running To Trench For Cover
These images show a Ukrainian drone dropping bombs on Russian soldiers as they run to the trenches for cover.
The footage begins with about 10 Russian soldiers hurrying into the trench just as the Ukrainian drone drops a first bomb.
It can be seen exploding in the trench and potentially injuring some of the soldiers just as the drone drops a second bomb.
The images were obtained from the Regional Directorate of Territorial Defense Forces "East" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday, 30th January, along with a statement saying: "The orcs are constantly trying to escape from our Separate Territorial Defence Brigade of the city of Kharkiv.
"Sometimes it works... but not for everyone. Death to the enemies."
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 344th day of the war.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 2nd February 2023, Russia had lost about 129,030 personnel, 3,211 tanks, 6,382 armoured combat vehicles, 2,212 artillery units, 458 multiple launch rocket systems, 222 air defence systems, 293 warplanes, 284 helicopters, 1,951 drones, 796 cruise missiles, 18 warships, 5,064 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 200 units of special equipment.
Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.
At least two people have been killed and seven injured when a Russian rocket destroyed an apartment building in the city of Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine, according to the regional governor, Pavlo Kyrylenko.
He said: “Rescuers, law enforcement and public utilities are working at the scene to go through the rubble of the destroyed building. It is likely that people are still underneath.”
Ukraine’s Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar said on Wednesday evening that there is fierce fighting in eastern Ukraine, with Russian troops attempting to advance near the strategic city of Lyman.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russian forces are attempting to make gains that they can show on the anniversary of the invasion, which will be on 24th February.
Zelensky said: “A definite increase has been noted in the offensive operations of the occupiers on the front in the east of our country. The situation has become tougher.”
Andrei Medvedev, a former commander of Russia’s Wagner mercenary organisation who fled to Norway, reportedly said he wished to apologise for having fought in Ukraine and wanted to bring the perpetrators of atrocities carried out in the conflict to justice.
He also said that he witnessed Russian prisoners who were taken to Ukraine to fight for Wagner being mistreated and killed.
The UK Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, has said that he does not think that it would be the right decision to send UK fighter jets to Ukraine “for now”.
He also said that it was “not a solid decision” and added: “I’ve learned two things: never rule anything in and never rule anything out.”
Germany’s Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck has said that he is not in favour of sending fighter jets to Ukraine, saying that it would probably be a step too far and could lead allies into being drawn into an outright war with Russia.
But Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged Ukraine’s western allies to “give the Ukrainians the tools to finish the job”, including main battle tanks and combat aircraft.
Speaking to the Atlantic Council in Washington DC, the UK’s former Prime Minister urged allies to “stop focusing on Putin and focus entirely on Ukraine.
Spain has reportedly said that it will begin sending Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, with between four and six of the tanks set to be supplied to Kyiv.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that the growing relationship between Russia and China represents a threat not only to Asia but to Europe as well.

WAR IN UKRAINE: Moment Ukrainian Drone Drops Bomb On Russian Soldier Hiding Among Trees
These images show a Ukrainian drone dropping a bomb on a Russian soldier hiding among some trees.
The video shows the Ukrainian drone landing what appears to be a direct hit on the Russian soldier, with the bomb exploding right on top of them and causing them to fall to the ground and roll over.
The images were obtained from the Zaporizhzhia Separate Territorial Defence Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Monday, 30th January, along with a statement saying: "Soldiers of the Berdyan Territorial Defense Battalion remind - No matter where the foot of the occupier steps, the ground will burn under him everywhere and he will have no peace anywhere! DRIVE IN: Car Thieves Smash Into Shopping Centre At Night And Cruise Around Robbing Goods
This is the bizarre moment when car thieves smash through the entrance of a closed shopping centre, drive around it to rob a store, then smash their way back out again through a different set of doors.
The incident took place at Vaughan Mills mall in Vaughan, Canada, early on 1st February.
York Regional Police said in a statement: "Early this morning [1st February] a 2011 Black Audi A4 with Quebec licence plate X10 SNP smashed through Vaughan Mills.
"Two suspects committed a break-and-enter and fled."
Local media said the car seen in the footage had been stolen from Laval woman Taylor-Anna Kobinger.
After Kobinger listed her car online to try to sell it, a man had responded to her advert and visited her home to take it out for a couple of test drives.
But on his second go, she said, he began to drive dangerously, so she asked to change places with him.
But when she got out of the passenger seat, he stepped on the gas and sped away.
The next she heard about her stolen car was when York Regional Police contacted her to report that it had been involved in a robbery more than 550 kilometres (342 miles) away.
Police said that after driving through the shopping centre, the suspects broke into an electronics store and stole a number of devices.
Police are now searching for the pair.
Sergeant Clint Whitney told local media: "We are just fortunate that nobody was hurt and it is property damage only."

Russia Rattles Nuclear Sabre Saying It Is Preparing Its 'Yars' ICBMs For Combat Patrols
Russia has rattled its nuclear sabre, saying that it has deployed its thermonuclear 'Yars' intercontinental ballistic missiles on combat patrol routes, as this footage purports to show.
The footage begins by showing one of Russia's 'Yars' intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) exiting a facility before it is seen being escorted through a snowy forested area.
The massive missile can then be seen being covered in white camo netting before a number of 'Yars' missiles and their escort are seen driving along a snow-covered road.
The footage then shows more netting being placed on one of the large missile vehicles as the footage ends.
The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Thursday, 2nd February, along with a statement claiming: "In the Barnaul missile formation, autonomous launchers of 'Yars' mobile ground-based missile systems (PGRK) were launched on combat patrol routes.
"Strategic missilemen work out tasks and introductory ones, including those for performing intensive manoeuvring actions on combat patrol routes in daylight and at night.
"The crews of the Yars PGRK will perform the tasks of completing a march up to 100 kilometres long, dispersing units with a change in field positions, their engineering equipment, organising camouflage and combat protection. Also, military personnel solve issues of countering sabotage and reconnaissance groups.
"In the course of manoeuvring operations, the units are working out the tasks of dispersing in the forest in order to increase the secrecy of the units of the Yars PGRK.
"Planned activities make it possible to check the readiness of personnel, as well as weapons and military equipment, for long-term duty on combat patrol routes."
We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.
In military jargon, 'combat patrol' differs from reconnaissance in that a unit is typically more heavily armed and can be tasked with offensive action or providing security to other units. There are usually four types of 'combat patrols': raid, contact, ambush, and security.

WAR IN UKRAINE: Ukrainian Artillery Takes Out Russian Ammunition And Personnel Truck In Donbas
These images show how Ukrainian artillery took out a Russian ammunition and personnel truck in the Donbas with the help of a drone.
The footage shows the Russian truck being hit on a road separating a forested area from a pockmarked field.
It can be seen exploding in spectacular fashion, with smoke rising into the air.
The Ukrainian military explained that the truck had been spotted by a drone that then coordinated with an artillery unit to take it out.
The images were obtained from the Eastern Operational-Territorial Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine on Thursday, 2nd February, along with a statement saying: "National Guardsmen destroyed a truck belonging to the occupiers in Donbas.
"On 27th January, in the Bakhmut area, the 3rd Brigade of the Operational Assignment of the National Guard of Ukraine, together with the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, discovered and destroyed the occupiers' cargo vehicle for transporting ammunition and the personnel in it.
"With the help of UAV, the aerial reconnaissance of the brigade established the location of a military truck that delivered ammunition to the occupiers."
They added: "Thus, the National Guard complicates the logistics of delivering ammunition to the occupying troops at the front and continues to reliably control the line of contact with the fans of the 'Russian world'."
They signed off with "Glory to Ukraine! Together to Victory!"

WAR IN UKRAINE: Ukrainians Take Out Wagner Assault Platoon Near Bakhmut
These images show how the Ukrainian Special Forces, National Guard and an artillery unit worked together to take out an assault platoon of Wagner mercenaries near Bakhmut.
The footage begins by showing a Russian soldier walking outside of a building before the area is hit by what appears to be artillery shelling.
The images, filmed from a drone, show the area to be a farmstead, with the Ukrainian military saying they had detected a platoon of Wagner mercenaries there.
The area then continues to be shelled and the buildings damaged.
The images were obtained from Military Unit 3017 of the National Guard of Ukraine on Wednesday, 1st February, along with a statement saying: "The National Guard neutralised the assault groups of the 'Wagnerians'.
"Near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, the National Guard together with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed assault groups of Russian mercenaries, the so-called 'Wagnerians'.
"On 27th January, in the Bakhmut region, the 3rd Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, together with the 44th Separate Artillery Brigade and a unit of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, discovered the location of the occupiers and destroyed up to a platoon of enemy personnel.
"SSO operators identified the target and adjusted the gunners' fire, fire control was carried out by Guardsmen of the 3rd Operational Brigade, fire damage was inflicted by gunners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Now the Russians have no chance to gather their forces and advance further towards our positions.
"It will be recalled that the total combat losses of Russia during the entire period of the full-scale war from 24th February to 31st January approximately amounted to 127,500 personnel.
"Glory to Ukraine! Together to victory!"

Russia Says It Hit Ukrainian Positions With Uragan And Grad Multiple Launch Rocket Systems
Russia has said that it has hit Ukrainian positions using 'Uragan' and 'Grad' multiple launch rocket systems, as this footage purports to show.
The footage begins by showing one of the Russian war machines manoeuvring into position, some branches from makeshift camouflage still visible on it.
It can then be seen firing a number of missiles into the sky before the footage cuts to what appear to be Ukrainian positions being hit.
The images then show two other Russian multiple launch rocket system vehicles manoeuvring into position and opening fire, shooting a salvo of missiles into the sky.
The images then appear to show the Russian missiles hitting targets.
The footage was obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday, 1st February, along with a statement claiming: "Crews of Uragan and Grad multiple launch rocket systems of the Southern Military District successfully hit targets in the area of the special military operation."
The Russian MoD also claimed: "Servicemen of the artillery regiment perform combat missions in the Kherson direction, destroying manpower and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Having received a combat mission to destroy an artillery unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the right side of the Dnieper, combat crews moved to firing positions to strike at the coordinates received from the UAV units.
"Multiple launch rocket systems took up positions at a considerable distance from each other on the left bank of the Dnieper. Less than a minute after arriving at the point, the gunners of the Southern Military District aimed their installations at the targets. After a fire strike on the enemy, intelligence reported that all targets had been successfully hit."

ASH GOING TO BLOW: Warning Over Vast Volcano Smoke Plume
This is the terrifying moment a vast cloud of fumes and ash blow through a live volcano in Mexico.
Officials have warned thrill seekers and locals to stay away from the giant Popocatepetl volcano for fear of showers of red-hot rocks and mudslides.
Footage of the peak shows the volcano's massive dome and 400-metre crater, with smoke rising up to form a large cloud above it.
The volcano is so large it straddles three central Mexican states - Puebla, Morelos, and Mexico in central Mexico.
Now experts have issued a warning telling people of the danger of erupting "ballistic" rocks.
Newsflash obtained a statement from the Centro Nacional de Prevencion de Desastres (CENAPRED; Mexico's National Centre for Prevention of Disasters) dated 28th January saying: "Scientific and technical personnel carried out an overflight to observe the morphological conditions of the volcano.
"The CENAPRED urges people not to approach the volcano and especially the crater, due to the danger of falling ballistic fragments."
They added: "The monitoring of the Popocatépetl Volcano is carried out continuously 24 hours a day. Any change in activity will be reported in a timely manner."
The Mexican authorities also said that they had witnessed significant volcanic activity.
They said: "In the last 24 hours, through the monitoring systems of the Popocatépetl volcano, 165 exhalations accompanied by water vapour, other volcanic gases and ash were detected.
"Additionally, 139 minutes of tremors and 3 minor explosions were registered yesterday at 10:14 p.m. and today at 04:51 and 05:21 p.m."
They said that their teams had flown over the volcano to observe it and that experts were working with the National Guard to protect local inhabitants from "the colossus".
They also said that the inner crater rim measures about 390 to 410 metres in diameter.
They also issued a stark warning to thrill seekers thinking about getting close to the active volcano.
They said: "The CENAPRED emphatically reiterates the recommendation not to ascend to the crater of the volcano since there is a possibility of explosions, as has been seen on several occasions in the past, which imply the emission of incandescent fragments and in case of heavy rains, move away of the bottoms of ravines due to the danger of mud and debris flows."

The footage shows the Ukrainian soldier firing the rocket from what appears to be a rocket launcher while a colleague stands nearby.
The images were obtained from the Office of Strategic Communications (StratCom) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Wednesday, 1st February, along with a statement saying: "Good morning, Ukraine!

"Glory to Ukraine and its soldiers! Death to enemies!"
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a "special military operation". Today marks the 343rd day of the war.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 1st February 2023, Russia had lost about 128,420 personnel, 3,209 tanks, 6,382 armoured combat vehicles, 2,207 artillery units, 458 multiple launch rocket systems, 221 air defence systems, 293 warplanes, 284 helicopters, 1,951 drones, 796 cruise missiles, 18 warships, 5,061 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 200 units of special equipment.
Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.
The UK has said that it is not practical to provide Ukraine with fighter jets. A Downing Street spokesperson said: “These are sophisticated pieces of equipment.”
They added: “We do not think it is practical to send those jets into Ukraine.”
But they also said that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is in favour of accelerating support for Ukraine and that a “prolonged stalemate” would benefit Moscow.
A senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Andriy Yermak, has suggested that Poland may be willing to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
Yermak said that Ukraine had received “positive signals” from Poland, but Poland’s Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, stressed he would only act in consultation with other NATO members.
Ukraine has said that it will continue lobbying for warplanes, arguing that the West had repeatedly refused to supply it with times before finally agreeing to do so.
Ukraine’s Defence Minister, Oleksii Reznikov, said on a visit to Paris: “All types of assistance at the beginning went through the no stage. This means no as of today.”
Sebastien Lecornu, Reznikov’s opposite number in France, said there was “no taboo” about supplying Ukraine with jets.
Lecornu also reportedly said that they were discussing training Ukrainian pilots to fly French fighter planes.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that his country is expecting to receive a “first wave” of between 120 and 140 tanks from 12 countries.
These will reportedly include German Leopard 2, British Challenger 2 and US M1 Abrams tanks.
Kuleba said that he was also “really counting” on an agreement being reached for France to supply Ukraine with its Leclerc tanks.
The Institute for the Study of War, a US-based think tank, has said that Moscow is “preparing for an imminent offensive”.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said that there are currently “no signs” that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “preparing for peace”.

BLOOMING CHEEK: Crook Robbed Florist To Get Rose For His Last Victim
This is the bizarre moment a serial robber carries out a terrifying raid on a florist so he can steal a rose for one of his earlier victims.
The 35-year-old crook - unnamed in local media in Orenburg, Russia - forced assistants to hand over a single red rose plus nearly GBP 60 in cash (RUB 5,000).
The thief later told police he had taken a shine to a woman he had robbed a month earlier and wanted to say sorry.
But, according to police, he did not have any money so he robbed a florist armed with a bottle instead.
CCTV footage of the weird heist shows him looming over the counter, threatening two assistants.
As the florists cower behind the counter, he makes off with their takings and helps himself to a rose being prepared for a bouquet.
Police said the suspect was already under house arrest for earlier robberies and is now in custody, facing new charges.
