EAA Girsan Regard Day One Range Report.
Day one with the Girsan Regard (a Beretta 92 clone).
I was getting some fails to extract issues, more so with the 30 round mags than the 20's, still investigating the cause. It might just be a break in period? Shot between 200-300 rounds on the first day.
The pistol is very accurate and comfortable to shoot.
The point of aim is a bit unusual. I needed to put the front dot above the two rear dots to hit on target, almost in a triangle pattern to hit at the correct height.
Ammo used today was cheap Geko 124g 9mm. Not sure if the ammo was a factor in the FTEs. This was a new bulk buy and my first time using this brand. The same ammo did work fine in the XD(m) and M&P today, so kinda doubt that was a factor.
If you have any advice about the Fail to Extract issue in this vid, please share.

Girsan Regard Updates: Hammer Spring, Slide Stop, Grips.
This video ran a bit long, sorry about that.
If you just want to see how to change the Slide Stop, I trimmed out a 2 minute video for just that change.
In this video I change out the factory hammer spring for a Wilson Combat 14 pound spring, talk about the Cool Hand grips a bit, and swap out the Slide Stop.
There is also close up video of the differences between the Girsan and Beretta slide stops.
SPOILERS:
First attempt at the hammer spring failed due to old eyes and not capturing the hammer rod, so you get to see me fail the function test and do it again.
The new slide stop made no difference in getting the 30 round K-Mags to function. Those mags work fine in my PAK9 and Sub2K, would be nice if they'd work in the Regard as well.
If your looking for the grips on my Girsan, they can be found here:

My wife made me get a proper hammer and punch kit after watching this video, this is what I chose:

Talon has a few variations of this rifle out, this one is UPC: 718356157308, Model TAC-G556
I just picked this up from my FFL today, and it's my first AR platform rifle that I've owned. This is an 'Optics Ready' rifle with a full top rail and M-Lok free floating hand guard.

Badger M22 Marlin 60 Bullpup Stock Range Report.
My wife and I gave the Badger M22 Bullpup some time at the range today. This is a conversion kit I bought several months back at:
https://www.badgerm22.com/
And I've featured it in a few short videos.
Me and my wife both took some shots on camera before I settled in to get the red dot zero'd in.
Overall it's a solid build and fun to shoot, and I got it more as a fun little project gun than a serious plinker. We both agreed that the buttpad is a bit too slick as it comes from the factory, I'll probably get some skateboard tape and use it to add some friction so it doesn't slide around as much when shouldered.

Talon Armament Gryphon GAR-15: Day 1 Range Report
Took the GAR15 to the range for the first time today.
The day started rough with many jams and fails to feed, but after about 50-70 rounds the issues resolved themselves. Guessing it was just a break in period.
The only issue that has not yet self corrected is the bolt locking back on an empty mag. After about 300 rounds the bolt would still fail to lock back about half the time.
Accuracy is good. Using a cheap red dot and Wolf surplus .223 I was getting about 3 inch groups at 50 yards. Better optics would help this out significantly.
This is my first AR, and first day shooting it, so don't expect any awesomeness.
Thanks for watching.

Sentinel "18" Gun Storage Box. Modifications, Improvements and Gripes.
I put this together last night. There are some design issues and modifications that I made to address them.
Firstly, the gun braces are set at 38 inches high, a Marlin 60 is 37 inches long, and most of my other rifles are near the same size.
I lowered one side of the cabinet down to 32 inches high, easy mod, just drilled fresh holes six inches lower than the factory ones.
The other mod was to lower the bottom shelf on the right side by 5 inches. This allowed me to store my shorter guns on that side and still left about a foot of storage underneath.
After these mods, I'm still only able to hold 9 of my long guns in this cabinet. I'd be surprised if anyone could fit 18 guns in this cabinet.
Still, for about $150 at WalMart, this is a useful cabinet with the mods mentioned above.
Issues: they only supply 4 scoped rifle stand-offs, and it doesn't seem possible to buy more.
I did find a link to a file that will let you 3D print them, but that's a toy I don't have yet.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3487853
Also, slot one in the cabinet will interfere with the door lock, and is unusable.
Anyways, hope this helps someone.

Rimfire Dueling Tree by Deschutes Metal Works. Unboxing and Assembly.
Dueling Tree Range video here: https://youtu.be/THiwx9sFYCg
After trying my wife's TX22, I decided to get one for myself, and also to get a Rimfire Dueling Tree so we can compete against each other.
I narrowed down my choices to the Action Targets ( https://amzn.to/2wpGp6x ) tree or the one by Deschutes Metal Works ( https://amzn.to/3dkVO99 ).
The Action Targets tree is only 40 inches tall and cost $30 more. The Deschutes tree is height adjustable as you use your own 2x4's, less expensive, and confirmed American Made by a small business metal shop, so I went for the Deschutes.
This product can be purchased at Amazon or directly from the MFG (at https://deschutesmetalworks.com/ ) at the same cost. Both options have free shipping. The version currently being sold directly by Deschutes has 3 vertical slots, the version he sells thru Amazon has 1, so I ordered directly from the MFG.
When I emailed the company I was told they had overstock of the 3 hole versions that they are selling thru at his shop, the items he ships to Amazon are the single hole type.
This video is me unboxing, spending nearly 5 minutes pulling the shrink wrap off the parts, then assembling the unit.
I needed to take about the width of a SkilSaw blade off the vertical post to get it to fit snugly into the vertical stand. I should have done the same with the base, but I used a bug ass hammer instead.
This product was purchased with my own funds, for $169.
I'll be taking it to the range soon and giving it a good workout.
More to come. Please subscribe and share if you like this.

Badger M-22 Marlin 60 Bullpup. Function Test after install.
Just a quick function test with the Marlin 60 Bullpup.
No shells in the face, no fails.
--
Finished the Marlin 60 Badger bullpup build.
Was a bit more of a pain than I figured. Think it was because my plastic stock screws are shorter than what the kit expected. Everything else was to spec but had to do some hacking to get the 2 stock screws to mount.
Then when it was done there was too much play in the trigger, so had to take it all apart again and bend in the follower rod a bit and put it all together again. Now there is zero play.

My wife's first time shooting a 12 Gauge. #4 Buckshot
My wife is an avid pistol shooter and dead eye 22 plinker, but she's never fired a shotgun before today.
This is a Mossberg 500, 18.5 inch barrel, loaded with #4 Buckshot (S&B Brand). After the first shot she wanted more, but not too much more.

A few more rounds with the PAK 9 after installing the Folding Brace.
You can barely hear my wife at the end of the video asking "Were you aiming at the center?" FYI: I was doing 3 rounds per circle on the target for a bit at the end of the mag.

PAK9 Rear Rail Upgrade #3. Using a Sling with the FS1913 Brace mounted.
Part 1: Adding the Rear Rail:
https://youtu.be/E8bDLKPF0iM
Part 2: Adding the 1 inch extension
https://youtu.be/1usEkZdEPjU
This is a simple upgrade once you get the idea to do it.
I was able to use my sling when I did not have the brace on, but didn't have a way to attach it when the brace was mounted.
Simple fix, drill a hole thru the 1 inch Monstrum Riser I added in Video #2 and run a machine screw swivel stud thru and bolt it on, then add a quick detach swivel loop to the stud.
Now I can use my sling with or without the brace, and with the brace folded or open.
Hope this helps.

LCP2, TCP & S&W Bodyguard Trigger Comparisons.
A while back I stated the S&W Bodyguard had the worst trigger ever and promised to do a desktop comparison to my other .380s
This video should prove, without a doubt that the S&W Bodyguard has by far the worst trigger of the 3 guns presented. The winner, surprisingly would be the Taurus TCP, which has since been discontinued.
The Bodyguard is going away tomorrow, so I wanted to make this video while I still had the chance.

Mobile Ham Install using a Ram Mount. RAP-111 for a FSM-7250
Got the Yaesu 7250 mounted in the truck today. Just a short video showing the setup I used.
The mount is a Ram Mount RAP-111 (listed as a Composite Mount for Fishfinders), and it worked perfectly for the Ham Radio.
There are pre-drilled holes in the mount, and 2 of them lined up with the mounting bracket that came with the radio, which seems to be enough to hold it securely.
The advantage I was looking for was to be able to quickly detach the rig when I want to take it inside to use as a Base Station. This is very simple, just unhook 2 wires and unscrew the mount.
I had to make a little stand for it, as the ball was bigger than expected, this was done with some scrap 2 inch PVC that I had hanging around.
UPDATE: The 2 inch PVC just wasn't stable enough. Ended up getting the RAP-200-1-293U base
( https://ocmounts.com/products/ram-sing-socket-arm-w-octagon-scket-roun-rap-200-1-293u ) and screwing it into my table for Base Station use.
Hope this helps,

What have I been up to lately?
Haven't posted in a while. Ammo is too precious to waste at the range lately, and haven't bought any new toys recently.
On the past several weekends I have been working a project around the house which is mostly finished.
We got a new chest freezer, without really thinking about where it would fit, so I ended up closing off part of the porch and running power out to it.
Then I had to make a new way to walk up from the back yard, so I cut in some steps leading to the back to replace the old ones that I tore down.
Really nothing interesting here, but seeing how I haven't posted in a while, figured I'd make a short vid to show I'm still alive.

AK Fail to Fire, Fail to Safety. Cause and Fix. C39V2.
This video is not to bash this firearm, just to show how this fail happened and how to quickly fix it should the same thing happen to you.
On the first shot of my wife's C39V2 the trigger did not reset, she tried to place the gun on Safe, and the lever would not move.
The safety lever on this rifle has a small nub that comes very close to the trigger return spring. When the gun was taken off safe the nub caught the spring and dragged it off the end of the bar it rests on, and snapped back under the bar.
This caused the trigger not to reset and held the bar up slightly not allowing the safety to be reset.
Once I figured out what happened this was an easy fix, I also bent the spring back a bit so that this would not happen again.
Other than this single issue, this rifle has run flawlessly.

Folding Brace PAK9, Back at the Range. KMag function test
After a long hot summer I finally got back to the range and got to give the new folding brace setup a test drive. Also testing out the Korean 92FS 30 Round mags I picked up recently. These can be had for about $9 each online and seems to work fine.
