Banned Books week is a lie and teachers and librarians are using it to manipulate your kids into being angry that they're being denied access to books they're not being denied access to. The goal is to make them angry at YOU Mom and Dad, and to trust the school and library to have their backs (as-IF). Put a stop to it by talking to your kids about the meaning of "banned" vs "restricted."

School is all about mixed messages. I could make at least a dozen videos about the different versions of them, and within each, there are, in-turn, dozens of specific message examples. In this video, I define what a mixed message is, or rather the most common forms it takes, and go through three of the most common mixed messages delivered in K12 schools by teachers today. Your child has no choice but to receive these messages if they're there, but you can help them RESPOND to them in a way that wards off, or eliminates confusion and, if you're lucky, might even awaken a well-meaning, but thoughtless teacher to the havoc they're wreaking.

It never fails...Someone watches a video, and reframes my argument so they can make the argument they want to make, rather than have to refute what I've said. So it was with the video about indoctrination, where someone decided to completely ignore what I was saying, and pretend I was suggesting we should not teach kids to be kind to those who are different, or that it's wrong to teach kids to accept those who are different. I never said anything so preposterous, nor would I. But just in case you ever run into this sort of strawman (I can almost guarantee you will if you try to argue against teaching gender theory in K12), here's my response. 1st: stop putting words in my mouth I never said or even hinted at 2nd: do your homework re: what's being taught, and why (to push a worldview so children will look at everything related to gender and sexuality through a specific lens) 3rd: learn about how children develop and learn things like complex concepts (like identity, and gender) 4th: don't pretend character education is the role of the GOVERNMENT schools 5th: don't erase gender non-conforming children or describe them as "different" when they are more the norm than NOT; that was the whole POINT of teaching a generation of children who are now their PARENTS they were "Free to Be" themselves, and if William wanted a doll, it just meant William wanted a damn doll, not that he was really Billie, girl trapped in a boy's body! If you report this video, you will be proving every point I've made in it. I said what I said, I stand by it, and this video explains why I think I'm right. You are, of course, free to disagree, but bring your best argument in support of your position, and if you comment without watching and listening to what I've said, it will be blatantly obvious. Refute EACH POINT: 1. Give your definition of indoctrination, and explain why you get to rewrite the dictionary one I've used; 2. Explain how gender theory is empirically TRUE, and not faith-based, citing third-party scientific research, not anecdotes, or appeals to emotion; 3. Explain how children compelled to be in schools where this is taught by teachers who present it uncritically, and peers who are celebrated for embracing it uncritically, are capable in any meaningful way of criticizing it without suffering negative consequences; 4. Explain how the state (government schools) justify taking the authority from parents, and children, to make decisions about unproven controversial theories on their own, as individuals (without suffering negative consequences)? Please keep in mind, people who are on solid ground logically don't need to resort to ad hominem.
