Gone are the days of Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels being in love and doting over their children together. After less than two years of marriage, the reality TV personalities called it quits and had their divorce finalized in September. Together they share two children, 2-year-old daughter Safire Majesty Samuels, and 1-year-old son Legend Brian Samuels. “Love & Hip Hop” fans watched the former couple go from being madly in love to despising each other as their tumultuous union played out on television. Now, in the wake of Mena and Samuels airing the aftermath of their split for millions to see, fans are getting even more insight into their journey as co-parents. In a clip from the reunion special, Mena spoke in detail about the toll her failed relationship and strained interactions with her ex-husband have had on her. In particular, she spoke to the heavy emotions she endured when she learned about Samuels’ child support payments. According to TMZ, Samuels was ordered to shell out $4,305 in monthly payments. They will retain joint custody of their two children. “I was really like breaking in pieces day by day,” she told reunion host Claudia Jordan. Mena went on to explain that she sought therapy during her darkest hours after giving birth to their second child. “I’ve found so many lessons that I needed to learn, and I was able to tap into, like, I attracted this energy into my life. I’ve had some faults in my marriage, but at the same time I’ve also swept so much under the rug, and I think that’s why I got taken advantage of — because for the first time I thought I was safe,” she explained. Safaree explained that while his public demeanor depicts him living his best life and seemingly going unbothered by their divorce and co-parenting struggles, he does deal with pain. “Who wants to get married, have kids, and then end up here? I wouldn’t have thought that two years later this is where we would’ve been,” said the “No Regular Girl” rapper.

Context: The rapper entered a negotiated plea, known as an Alford plea, in which a defendant doesn’t admit he committed the crime, but acknowledges that it is in his best interest to plead guilty. The charge Gunna faced was one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Act. Gunna was sentenced to five years with one served in prison. The one-year sentence was commuted to time served. The four-year remaining balance on his sentence has been suspended and will be subject to special conditions including 500 hours of community service. After the sentence came down, the rapper released a statement, saying: “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.” Despite saying that he will not testify, it is a condition of Gunna’s trial that he testifies if he is called, though he can claim the Fifth Amendment. Gunna, Young Thug and 26 others were arrested in May in a sweeping gang indictment that claimed YSL is a violent criminal street gang that has committed multiple murders, shootings and carjackings over the course of a decade. Prosecutors said that the rappers promoted the gang’s activities in songs and on social media. In his statement Wednesday, Gunna said that when he joined YSL in 2016, he didn’t consider it a gang, but “more like a group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations. My focus of YSL was entertainment -- rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and ‘glorified’ urban life in the Black community.” Gunna said he cherishes his association with YSL music and always will. During Gunna’s court appearance Wednesday, the judge read out the stipulations of the plea agreement that Gunna then responded to. The rapper swore that he has personal knowledge that members or associates of YSL have committed crimes in furtherance of the gang -- but seemed to distance himself from “YSL the gang” versus “YSL the label.” “I recognize, accept and deeply regret that my talent and music indirectly furthered YSL the gang to the detriment of my community,” Gunna acknowledged on the signed statement. “YSL as a gang must end.” Gunna also attested in the plea deal that he was in a car with Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, when officers pulled them over and found hydrocodone, methamphetamine and a firearm inside. According to the plea agreement, Gunn claimed the gun and drugs weren’t his. It’s unclear if anyone else was in the car at the time. Per the plea agreement, the rapper will have to perform 500 hours of community service, a substantial portion of which will require him to speak to young people about the hazards and immorality of gangs and gang violence. He is also not allowed to carry a gun during the term of his sentence. If he violates the terms of the plea agreement, the district attorney has the right to revoke his suspended sentence. Alleged YSL co-founder Walter Murphy also negotiated a plea deal in the indictment on Tuesday, according to his lawyer, Jacoby Hudson. Hudson said Murphy has already been released and that he will not testify about the conduct of any other individual defendants. Hudson said the ways that Murphy has changed his life since he got out of prison was a major factor in the deal. Young Thug remains in jail. His trial is set to start in January. The Mexican Police thought Daejhanae Jackson (the woman who allegedly murdered Shanquella Robinson) was a MAN! Why?! I interviewed Gerardo Zuniga who spoke with the police, and this was their reasoning! Context: Mexican authorities are pursuing their case against an American suspected of killing her friend at a luxury resort. They're looking to extradite the woman to face charges. There is potential legal limbo as Mexican prosecutors seek to extradite an acquaintance of Shanquella Robinson, the woman found dead while vacationing in Mexico. Authorities are not currently naming her, but said she is a "direct aggressor" against the 25-year old, after video online -- which is too violent to show -- reveals Robinson assaulted in her hotel room. "What makes this uncommon is the Mexican government asking that a U.S. citizen be extradited," said ABC legal analyst, Dan Abrams. Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant for that acquaintance, who is now back in America, for the crime of "femicide," which is the act of killing a woman based on her gender. "On the one hand, the U.S. government is going to take this seriously, and on the other hand, it's not obligated to turn her over," Abrams said. On October 29, local police reports state that a Baja Resort Town guest told medical staff around 2 p.m. that Robinson had "drunk a lot of alcohol." A doctor determining she was stable but dehydrated, adding Robinson's acquaintances refused to send her to the hospital. The police report said the Charlotte native went into cardiac arrest and was declared dead by 6 p.m. However, an autopsy differs from that report, stating medical officials arrived before 3 p.m., quickly declaring Robinson dead from "severe spinal cord injury" and a dislocated neck. Now, Robinson's family wants answers. "I'm just waiting on that day when someone can be arrested. That's all I'm waiting on," said Robinson's mother, Sallamondra. Mexican prosecutors said Thursday they have filed charges against a U.S. woman on suspicion of killing another American seen being beaten in a viral video. Prosecutors in the state of Baja California Sur did not name the suspect in the Oct. 29 death of Shanquella Robinson. But they said they have approached Mexican federal prosecutors and diplomats to try to get the woman extradited to face charges in Mexico. Robinson's death at a resort development in the Baja resort town of San Jose del Cabo shocked people in both countries. The video raised suspicions that Robinson may have died at the hands of people she was travelling with. Local prosecutor Antonio López Rodríguez said the case was being treated as a potential homicide and an arrest warrant had been issued for the suspect. However, the group Robinson was travelling with left Mexico after she was found dead in a rented villa. State prosecutor Daniel de la Rosa Anaya said the suspect was also an American, but did not identify her. The FBI confirmed to CBS News Tuesday that it had also opened an investigation into Robinson's death. A video apparently taped at the luxury villa in San Jose del Cabo shows one woman, apparently an American, beating another woman identified as Robinson. The video has been reposted many times on social media sites. In it, a man with an American accent can be heard saying "Can you at least fight back?" The man did not appear to intervene in the beating. The video raised questions about why nobody intervened in the purported beating, or why people she was traveling with would have beaten her. Shanquella's mother, Salamondra Robinson, told CBS News in an interview last week that she was initially told by Shanquella's friends that Shanquella had gotten sick with alcohol poisoning. But later on, Salamondra learned there was a fight, and an autopsy found she had injuries to her spinal cord and neck. The autopsy showed that "her death had nothing to do with alcohol," Salamondra said.
