The Insane Truth Behind the Deadliest Rocket Explosion in History #history #rockets #books #viral
In the entire history of rocketry, this explosion of a Soviet prototype R-16 rocket was by far the deadliest incident. Accidents do happen, but this catastrophe went far beyond poor planning. What happened? The R-16 ICBM. The R-16 ICBM was the brainchild of the Soviet engineer Mikhail Yangel. Primarily intended as a replacement for R-7, it was designed to be more practical than its predecessor as its fuel did not require temperature controlled storage.

The Shocking Truth Behind the Soviet Union's R-16 Rocket Development #history #books #viral
Foul stuff. The commander of the strategic rocket forces of the USSR, Marshal Mitroff and Nadellen, was responsible for the development of the R-16. In order to boost his political profile, Nadellen decided to get the R-16 rocket ready for the Bolshevik revolution's anniversary. This led to him pressure on Yangel and the entire team of R-16. The timetable for preparing the R-16 rocket was accelerated, and a number of sensible safety measures were overlooked. Per the original schedule, the flight testing was to be conducted in July 1961, about 10 months later. Owing to the rush in the development of the rocket, Yangel failed to secure his preferred team to design the R-16's electrical guidance system. In place of Nikolai Piliugin, who handled the major designing tasks, Boris Koneklev, a radio engineering expert and inventor, was used instead. This was to prove disastrous.

Secrets of the Polygon The Soviet Nuclear Testing Grounds | Will Polygon explode in 2023?
Polygonal Secrets: Soviet Nuclear Test Site
Welcome back, before we start subscribe the channel to get the latest updates,in this video where we talk about the dark history of Soviet Nuclear Test Site
. secrets. and lies Secret litigation, betrayals and deception revolve around an arms race in which both sides seek to gain an advantage over the other.
The main source of the strategy of both sides is nuclear weapons. For Americans, that means bomb tests in the Midwest and the Pacific. For the Soviet Union, this meant the Semipalatinsk test site, also known as the Polygon.
What is a polygon? Polygon
was the main test site used by the Soviet Union to conduct nuclear weapons tests. The actual location is in northeast Kazakhstan, south of the Irtysh River Basin.
The
nuclear test site is also known as the Semipalatinsk test site. All sorts of experiments are being done here because Polygon's story is not about making the bomb successful.
It is also a story of insensitivity and indifference to neighbors.
research there caused a lot of electricity, but the Polygon is not in an isolated place. There are people nearby, and the local population was affected by the radio waves of the experiments.

What is the True Story of the Philadelphia Experiment? | What was the Philadelphia Experiment?
Allegedly, in the fall of 1943 a U.S. Navy destroyer was made invisible and teleported from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Norfolk, Virginia, in an incident known as the Philadelphia Experiment. Records in the Archives Branch of the Naval History and Heritage Command have been repeatedly searched, but no documents have been located which confirm the event, or any interest by the Navy in attempting such an achievement.
The ship involved in the experiment was supposedly the USS Eldridge. The Archives has reviewed the deck log and war diary from Eldridge's commissioning on 27 August 1943 at the New York Navy Yard through December 1943. The following description of Eldridge's activities are summarized from the ship's war diary. After commissioning, Eldridge remained in New York and in the Long Island Sound until 16 September when it sailed to Bermuda. From 18 September, the ship was in the vicinity of Bermuda undergoing training and sea trials until 15 October when Eldridge left in a convoy for New York where the convoy entered on 18 October. Eldridge remained in New York harbor until 1 November when it was part of the escort for Convoy UGS-23 (New York Section). On 2 November the convoy entered Naval Operating Base, Norfolk. On 3 November, Eldridge and Convoy UGS-23 left for Casablanca where it arrived on 22 November. On 29 November, Eldridge left as one of escorts for Convoy GUS-22 and arrived with the convoy on 17 December at New York harbor. Eldridge remained in New York on availability training and in Block Island Sound until 31 December when it steamed to Norfolk with four other ships. During this time frame, Eldridge was never in Philadelphia.
A copy of Eldridge's complete World War II action report and war diary coverage, including the remarks section of the 1943 deck log, is held by the Archives on microfilm, NRS-1978-26. The original file is held by the National Archives.

GUANABARA BAY, A LOOK AT HISTORY | Guanabara Bay (Rio de Janeiro) - All You Need to Know
A living witness to our history, Guanabara Bay holds relics dating back thousands of years. The discovery of archeological sites near its banks indicates that these waters may have been used by prehistoric people – known as “sambaquis” (“midden”) people. [1] At these sites, the fossils of small marsupial mammals, terrestrial mollusks, birds and reptiles have been identified, as well as chipped stones and ceramics, which tell us a little of this history.
Outras pesquisas Other research carried out by geographers and geologists concluded that, thousands of years ago, the sea level was around 130 meters below its current level. [2] At this time, therefore, on a large part of the currently submerged continental shelf, there used to be areas of restinga (sandy coastal vegetation), cliffs and dunes, which were home to exuberant megafauna such as mastodons, saber-toothed tigers, giant armadillos, and sloths as much as six meters long. [3] The cause of these animals’ disappearance is still uncertain: there may have been a shortage of food arising from the last ice age, or they may not have survived the rising waters of the Atlantic Ocean throughout the continental shelf’s coastal zone. At any rate, it is known that it was this flooding event, around 12,00 years ago, that gave rise to Guanabara Bay.
Why is Guanabara Bay so special?

What Is Stonehenge, Exactly? Scientists Debunk a Popular Theory | HISTORY OF STONEHENGE
For centuries, historians and archaeologists have puzzled over the many mysteries of Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument that took Neolithic builders an estimated 1,500 years to erect. Located in southern England, it is comprised of roughly 100 massive upright stones placed in a circular layout.
While many modern scholars now agree that Stonehenge was once a burial ground, they have yet to determine what other purposes it served and how a civilization without modern technology—or even the wheel—produced the mighty monument. Its construction is all the more baffling because, while the sandstone slabs of its outer ring hail from local quarries, scientists have traced the bluestones that make up its inner ring all the way to the Preseli Hills in Wales, some 200 miles from where Stonehenge sits on Salisbury Plain.
Today, nearly 1 million people visit Stonehenge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986, every year.
Archaeologists believe England most iconic prehistoric ruin was built in several stages, with the earliest constructed 5,000 or more years ago. First, Neolithic Britons used primitive tools—possibly made from deer antlers—to dig a massive circular ditch and bank, or henge, on Salisbury Plain. Deep pits dating back to that era and located within the circle—known as Aubrey holes after John Aubrey, the 17th-century antiquarian who discovered them—may have once held a ring of timber posts, according to some scholars.

Unveiled : What Is The Yonaguni Monument? | Japan's mysterious underwater 'city'
In 1987, a local diver exploring off the coast of Japan’s southern Ryukyu Islands stumbled across a startling discovery. Twenty-five metres below the surface, he spotted a series of almost perfectly carved steps with straight edges. Known today as the Yonaguni Monument, this massive 50m-long-by-20m-wide behemoth is one of the world’s most unusual underwater sites.
Nicknamed "Japan’s Atlantis", the rectangular, stacked pyramid-like monument is believed to be more than 10,000 years old. Some think it’s all that remains of a long-lost Pacific civilisation, possibly built by Japan’s prehistoric Jomon people who inhabited these islands as early as 12000 BC. Others say that the site resembles natural formations elsewhere around the world with distinctly defined edges and flat surfaces, such as Northern Ireland’s Giant's Causeway, whose thousands of interlocking basalt columns were formed by a volcanic eruption millions of years ago.

The mysterious Voynich manuscript has finally been decoded | The Mystery of the Voynich Manuscript
Yale University is a late-medieval manuscript written in a cramped but punctilious script and illustrated with lively line drawings that have been painted over, at times crudely, with washes of color. These illustrations range from the fanciful (legions of heavy-headed flowers that bear no relation to any earthly variety) to the bizarre (naked and possibly pregnant women, frolicking in what look like amusement-park waterslides from the fifteenth century). With their distended bellies, stick-like arms and legs, and earnest expressions, the naked figures have a whimsical quality, though their anatomy is frankly rendered—something unusual for the period. The manuscript’s botanical drawings are no less strange: the plants appear to be chimerical, combining incompatible parts from different species, even different kingdoms. (Click on the images to expand.) Tentacled balls of roots take the forms of animals, or of human organs—in one case, sprouting two disembodied heads with vexed expressions. But perhaps the oddest thing about this book is that no one has ever read it.
That’s because the book—called the Voynich manuscript after the rare-book dealer who stumbled upon it a century ago—is written in an unknown script, with an alphabet that appears nowhere other than in its pages. The writing system is oddly beautiful, full of looping and fluid curves. A series of distinctive letters, called “gallows” for their resemblance to a hangman’s scaffold, are sometimes conjoined with other letters, or have been embellished with elaborate curlicues by a scribe. What these glyphs signify—whether they represent phonetic information or numeric values or something else—is anyone’s guess. Judging by its illustrations, the manuscript seems to be a compendium of knowledge related to the natural world, including a section about herbs, a section apparently detailing biological processes, various zodiac charts, and pages devoted to the movements of celestial bodies, such as the transit of the moon across the Pleiades. The writing flows smoothly hesitation from one letter to the next; based on the handwriting, it’s thought to be the work of at least two and as many as eight practiced scribes, and possibly required years of labor.

Some Other Underground Facilities in the Federal Arc | UNDERGROUND GOVERNMENT
The Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP, now known as FEMA)
built a ‘hardened’ (protected against nuclear attack) underground
facility in 1971 at 5231 Riggs Road (Gaithersburg), near junction of
Routes 97 and 108, beneath a cow pasture, in Montgomery County,
MD, between Olney and Laytonsville. It is entered by a staircase from a
small surface building, although there is a horizontal entrance that is
used to unload freight. The Federal Regional Center at the Olney

(contained a National Civil Defense Computer system) and was one of
two centers (the other being at the North American Aerospace Defense
Command or NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain) that would issue a
warning in case of a nuclear attack on the United States. It was
believed by some to be at least 10 levels deep, however the report of 2
levels seems to be more realistic. It takes up an area of 65,000 square
feet. With the Warning Center supposedly transferred to Thomasville,
Georgia, it now serves as a Satellite Teleregistration Facility, along

What's inside Mount Pony? Make a virtual visit to nation's | Inside America's hidden bunkers
Mount Pony, east of Culpeper, Virginia, near the intersection of Routes
658 and 3, about 70 miles southwest of Washington, is a 20-1/2 acre
site, which contains a 140,000 square foot underground facility with a
400 foot long bunker built of steel reinforced concrete a foot thick and
covered with 2 to 4 feet of dirt. It was built in 1969 as a “Continuity of
Government” facility and operated by the Federal Reserve Bank of
Richmond, where 7 computers became the central point for all
American electronic fund transfers. It is self-sustaining, with its own
wells, power system, electrical generator, indoor pistol range,
incinerator, maintenance shops, cafeteria and storage for water and
fuel. It was able to house 540 people for 30 days.
Until 1988, it stored several billion dollars of currency that would be
used “to replenish currency supplies east of the Mississippi,” and
reactivate the economy after a nuclear attack, including a large
quantity of $2 bills, in its 23,500 square foot vault with ceilings over 11
feet high, which were shrink-wrapped and stacked on pallets 9 feet
high.
It was decommissioned in July, 1992, and in 1997, Congress approved
its transfer to the Library of Congress who is using use the installation
to protect its collection of 150,000 movies and recordings.

Revealed: Government's Plan to 'Save Itself' - Uncovering What's Hidden INSIDE Raven Rock Mountain
At Raven Rock Mountain, at the 4,667 acre Raven Rock State Park in
Franklin County (near Fountain Dale), on Blue Ridge Summit, is an
Alternate Joint Communications Center (AJCC) simply known as ‘Site
R’ (for Raven Rock) or ‘The Rock,’ which is just over the state line near
Waynesboro, PA. It is about 6 miles north of the Presidential retreat of
Camp David in Catoctin Mountains near Thurmont (MD), and it is
believed by some to be connected with it via a tunnel. In 1950,
President Truman approved the 716 acres as part of Camp Albert C.
Ritchie in Maryland. Construction began in 1950, and it became
operational in 1953. It came under the auspices of Fort Detrick (MD)
when Fort Ritchie closed in September, 1998, as part of the 1995 Base
Realignment and Closure Act. Because of its ‘back-up’ status, it is
known as the ‘underground Pentagon.’ It is actually a duplicate of the
Pentagon’s Command and Control Center, and was used by Deputy
Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz during the September 11th terrorist
attacks. It provides computer services, functions as a disaster
recovery site, and oversees over 38 communications systems.
The 260,000 square foot facility lies 650 feet beneath the 1,529 foot summit, and can be accessed by 4 tunnels, which is secured by a
chain link fence.
There are five buildings within the complex– with at least three of them
being 3-story structures. Inside this massive bunker, which can
accommodate 3000 people, there is an underground reservoir
containing millions of gallons of water, fluorescent lighting, medical/
dental facilities, dining facilities, a fitness center, a convenience store
(Post exchange), a barber shop, a chapel, 35 miles of phone lines, and
six 1,000-watt generators.

Why are the Nazca Lines so mysterious? | Nazca Lines | History, Location, Lima, Spider, & Facts
Nazca Lines, Nazca also spelled Nasca, groups of geoglyphs, large line drawings that appear, from a distance, to be etched into Earth’s surface on the arid Pampa Colorada (“Coloured Plain” or “Red Plain”), northwest of the city of Nazca in southern Peru. They extend over an area of nearly 190 square miles (500 square km).
Nazca Lines
Nazca Lines
Most of the Nazca Lines were constructed more than 2,000 years ago by the people of the Nazca culture (c. 200 BCE–600 CE), though some clearly predate the Nazca and are considered to be the work of the earlier Paracas culture. While the images dated to the Paracas are often humanlike and bear some resemblance to still earlier petroglyphs in the region, the subjects of the Nazca-made lines are generally plants and animals—such as a monkey (some 360 feet [110 metres] long), a killer whale (210 feet [65 metres]), a bird resembling a condor (443 feet [135 metres]), a hummingbird (165 feet [50 metres]), a pelican (935 feet [285 metres]), a spider (150 feet [46 metres]), and various flowers, trees, and other plants—as well as geometric shapes, including triangles, trapezoids, and spirals. Although the figures have been said to be virtually indecipherable from ground level, some claim that one cannot understand their meaning without walking what are now believed by some to be the sacred paths.

Why is it difficult for archaeologists to study the Plain of Jars? | Archaeological Project
The Plain of Jars, located on a plateau in central Laos, gets its name from more than 2,100 tubular-shaped megalithic stone jars used for funerary practices in the Iron Age. This serial property of 15 components contains large carved stone jars, stone discs, secondary burials, tombstones, quarries and funerary objects dating from 500 BCE to 500 CE. The jars and associated elements are the most prominent evidence of the Iron Age civilization that made and used them until it disappeared, around 500 CE.
More than 2100 tubular-shaped megalithic stone jars used for funerary practices in the Iron Age give the Plain of Jars its name. This serial property of 15 components contains 1325 of these large carved stone jars, stone discs (possibly lids for the jars), secondary burials, grave markers, quarries, manufacturing sites, grave goods and other features. Located on hill slopes and spurs surrounding the central plateau, the jars are large, well-crafted, and required technological skill to produce and move from the quarry locations to the funerary sites. The jars and associated elements are the most prominent evidence of the Iron Age civilisation that made and used them, about which little is known. The sites are dated from between 500 BCE and 500 CE (and possibly up to as late as 800 CE). The jars and associated archaeological features provide evidence of these ancient cultural practices, including associated social hierarchies. The Plain of Jars is located at an historical crossroads between two major cultural systems of Iron Age southeast Asia – the Mun-Mekong system and the Red River/Gulf of Tonkin system. Because the area is one that facilitated movement through the region, enabling trade and cultural exchange, the distribution of the jars sites is thought to be associated with overland routes.

Mount Weather Insider | America's Doomsday Plan | What do they do at Mount Weather?
The Mount Weather Special Facility is an unacknowledged Continuity of Government (COG) facility operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The 200,000 square foot facility also houses FEMA's National Emergency Coordinating Center. Located on a 434 acre mountain site on the borders of Loudon and Clarke counties, the above ground support facilities, with 240 employees, include about a dozen building providing communications links to the White House Situation Room.
The site was originally acquired by the National Weather Bureau to launch weather balloons and kites. In 1936 it passed to the Bureau of Mines, which bored a short experimental tunnel less than 300 feet beneath the mountain's crest to test new mining techniques. Based on a favorable evaluation of the hardness and integrity of the mountains rock, the Bureau began construction of the facility's tunnels in 1954, which were completed by the Army Corps of Engineers under the code name "Operation High Point." Total constuction costs, adjusted for inflation, are estimated to have exceeded $1 billion. Tunnel roofs are shored up with some 21,000 iron bolts driven 8 to 10 feet into the overhead rock. The entrance is protected by a guillotine gate, and a 10 foot tall by 20 foot wide 34-ton blast door that is 5 feet thick and reportedly takes 10 to 15 minutes to open or close.

Cold War era underground government facility | The Government's Secret Underground Nuclear Bunker
One of the first publicly revealed underground facilities was the
Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center. Construction began in May,
1961, and was completed December, 1965. The main tunnel is a third of
a mile long and leads to a pair of 25-ton blast doors which are 50 feet
apart. Beyond the second door is an underground complex consisting
of a 4-1/2 acre area of chambers and tunnels nearly a mile long. The
main chamber consists of three areas 45 feet wide, 60 feet high, and
588 feet long, which are intersected by four chambers 32 feet wide, 56
feet high, and 335 feet long. Within the inner complex, there are fifteen
free-standing buildings– a one story, a two story, and 11 three-story
buildings.
Although the primary source of electricity is the city of Colorado
Springs (a back-up power source comes from six 1,750 kilowatt, 2,800
horse-powered diesel generators), it is essentially a self-contained
complex in that all the support services necessary to maintain the
operation is contained within, such as a dining facility, medical and
dental facility, pharmacy, two physical fitness centers, a base
exchange, chapel, and a barbershop. Water is stored in four excavated
reservoirs (three are for industrial purposes, and the other is the
complex’s primary domestic water source) which have the potential to store 1.5 million gallons of water.
This underground complex contains facilities for Air Warning
(providing aerospace warning and control for North America), Missile
Warning Center (for attacks against the United States or U.S. forces
overseas), and Space Control Center (to detect, track, identify and
catalog all man-made objects orbiting the earth).
