"1 isn't enough to get boats done. 9-10 is normally big shortages of gold which hinders your village progress. 2-3 is very slow valley progress of construction tasks if it's not maxed. 7-8 can still have gold shortages. My guess (I don't actually know) is that 4-6 members would be ideal. Not too few that Valley progress is slow or boats are hard to get off, and not too many that there is big coin shortage for the valley. Ideally you want more than less, as it maxs out the valley faster and helps the Grand Level Monument go up faster, so I'm gonna guess 6 is the ideal. Plus it's nice to have more members on to chat with and meet. Image Image Max construction tasks, max boat tasks, max boats. If you have 9 or 10 you are at or exceeding the limit of possible boats, and people will have more boat tasks than they are able to use. I have played other merge games only to be attacked by ads every two seconds and aggresive pushing of microtransactions to continue, but that's not the case with this one! In fact, aside from the microtrasactions they do have, they are reasonably priced and give you a lot for your money. The actualy game is like your typical merge game, but they do so well at intertwining it with the story, it makes it much more engaging! Note that this is a casual game, you will have to wait to progress but it's a reasonable amount of time and paying isnt necessary to continue (A possible suggestion for developers,I would love to be able to find a way to see how long until the "spawners" replenish) I think however one of the biggest things I love about this game and what makes it stand out among the others is the story and characters. It really does seem at first to be your typical "inhereted a building and have to refurbish it" game but thought was put into the characters and stories. The characters are very diverse and its wonderful seeing more representation of LGBT folks and people of color. Let me just say that everything about this game design-wise is delightful. The visuals are bright and cheery, the characters are interesting and clearly have their personalities thought through, the story is fun to follow (maybe a little cliche to begin with, but I don’t mind it), and the animation is honestly better than what I see in most mobile games. There is so, so much to love about it, and I can’t wait to see how it’s built upon in the future. As well as that, the developers are super responsive! Perhaps just because the game is relatively new, but either way they really seem to take note of what players are saying (or complaining about, whoops) and use that feedback to make their gameplay better. It’s clear that they care deeply about the product they’re creating, as well as all those who love playing through it! All in all, I think Love & Pies has a really fun, solid foundation, and I’m so excited to see how the story and the game itself continue to develop from here. They are fun and interesting. The story is fun too, though be prepared to get the slowest ever drip feed of it as you progress however. The main problem is everything in the game is geared towards making you spend money. I know, I know, it’s a free game they have to make their money, right? I agree the developers need to make money, but not in this ridiculous fashion. Even stuff you but doesn’t guarantee you what you expect/want, and the newest event of Sven’s toy shop is so horribly abusive, unfun, and designed to drain your wallet that it is ridiculous. Of course, guess which event nearly constantly runs now? The game gets so abusive with its pricing and wanting to get more and more money from you that it actively gets in its own way to be played. For example, most games that require energy to play, you can pay a small amount of premium currency to refill the energy, right? Well, this one will double that cost every time. So first 10 gems, then 20, then 40, etc. it’s ridiculous. And the item generating items you need to click to get the ingredients to merge also don’t start to refresh until you drain them, because of course they want you to have to spend gems to make them refresh immediately. I forgot about this video, I'd recorded and hadn't released it, despite releasing the Catan videos which I recorded after this. This video is from 22 April 2022. I hit level 11 in it, and the valley SEA has hit level 100, amazing. As at 13 May 2022 (when I'm recording this), they are still at level 100, so must be having a break. Then the following top valleys are. 2nd Seefahrer on level 88 3rd Trymacs Valley on level 80 4th News on level 78 5th Evildale Ph on level 75 6th is REECH & PEYMUS on 70 7th is Free2PayValley on level 69 8th equal is Love Island on 68 8th is THE NUMPTIES on 68 A great game. I am still playing it to this day. I play for about 4 hours per week, so not a huge time commitment, but still enough to be advancing my account well, so that if the game goes Global I'm in a good position. I am currently the only one in my valley, SuperSightLIVE, you're welcome to come and join me. It's a level 4 Valley, currently building the salt lake. Have 30,000 points for the Grand Library, so that's wasting away. Just about to hit 40,000 rep. Still level 11, with 6/24 done, but doing 7x houses, which will boost me up to 13/24. Still to build the sawmill. I still have a big bottleneck of being able to upgrade my villagers due to not having the guilds leveled up much, the highest is level 2. The AI can make actions (buy settlements, play dev cards, etc.) at the start of a turn (before they roll) even though I cannot, so they have an advantage where they can drop to under 7 cards BEFORE a 7 is rolled. 2. Sometimes the AI will offer me a trade, and I will accept it, but instead of trading, they will offer me another, better, trade. So I accept that, but instead of it going through, they offer me yet another better trade. It seems like the game gets hung up where my accept button is actually denying the trade, so the AI is offering me better and better deals, but I’m never able to make the trade go through. They eventually trade 4-1 with the bank, and it is frustrating. 3. The UI is not intuitive at all. After I finished the first few games, I had to quit the entire app because I couldn’t figure out how to get back to the home screen without shutting down the entire game. After a while I found where you can click through several screens to get back to the main menu, but it is unnecessarily complicated. 4. Also, as others have said, the dice are clearly not random. more mcresh1 , 02/12/2022 Obviously rigged When playing the AI (especially of “Master” difficulty) it just happens to be that the robber is insanely lucky to be on your best resource for the whole game. Try to buy 1,2,3 development cards to get a knight to move it? They will all just happen to be road buildings, monopolies, victory points. When you finally get a knight, within 2 more turns a 7 is guaranteed to be rolled so that the AI can put the robber right back on your resource. Then a 7 will not be rolled for probably 25 turns as long as you dont play another knight. But once you play a knight to move the robber off, its guaranteed to be back on in only a couple turns. Also if you have 8 resources there are very high odds of AI rolling 7. Im pretty sure catan just cant come up with an AI that is actually good enough to beat a skilled human so in order to make it “hard” they need to adjust the luck of the game. What is worse than this though is when your resources magically “disappear” from your hand. Several times when I get robbed by the AI i have seen the resource that the AI took from my hand disappear and then about 1 second later another resource just disappears from your hand too (no 7 rolled or knight played). No explanation for that. You could at least do a better job at hiding the fact that the game is rigged. 👎 Also when playing multiplayer 90% of the time a 7 is rolled in the first 2 turns and then not rolled again for a long time. Not saying its rigged but just very annoying. more ExperiencedProjectEngineer , 08/23/2018 Extremely Buggy EDIT 1: some of the main concerns were addressed and - to some extent - corrected. Game breaking bugs in matches were reduced substantially, from about 90% of matches to a healthy 15% (yep, I kept an excel). The in-game interface is still the same, and in my humble opinion, not very intuitive. Regardless, the app is moving in the right direction. Adjusting stars from 1 to 3. REALLY looking forward to the update that was supposed to happen a few hours ago(?). ORIGINAL: The board game is amazing and the app has so much potential. However, it is ridiculously common for a game to get bugged. The problem with that is that it affects all other players, not just whoever got bugged. So the game hangs up thinking no one is having issues, meanwhile this one player is stalling for upwards of 20 mins (and the game cant figure out that something is wrong and just kick him). Kicktimers trigger for no reason when you’re in-game and everything else seems to be doing fine. Not much incentive to level up. Not much to buy in the shop (honestly if there were more items available, with better perks than a viking hat, I’d be throwing money at you guys). Elo visibility is really nice tho, kinda only thing that keeps me and my friends around. Just a tip, elo games tend to not show opponents’ elo in the pre-game screen so that it won’t affect in-game tactics (i.e. 3v1, etc). Title: Opening the Great Library Level 3! Back in action! Confusing boat system not explained! Talking about #Everdale I do think that the game is pretty unbalanced. Like if you are in a Valley with 1-2 people it has many problems, eg getting tons of valley points, but takes ages to upgrade stuff (only 24 construction tasks per day). Conversely if you have 8-10 in your Valley, there is a severe coin shortage and entails problems. In my situation I am getting close to 30K of the max valley points, and it's taking me so long to upgrade the buildings, I've also near maxed out the reputation road at level 10, unlocking skill level 9, I have level 6 houses, yet I have even got a single level 1 guild built yet, so can't do any of that stuff. I also can't get any boats fully done, meaning I can't progress my boat research stuff very fast at all. I currently have tons of coins in the game, but not much to spend them on. Also I have tons of level 3 research potions, even though I haven't even unlocked them yet. I think even though in an average situation the game is balanced, the average band in which people play the game is too small, and thus everyone not in that typical experience, probably will have a bad experience. If too few in the valley, it's broken, if too many in the Valley it's broken. Even Eroda didn't want any more than 7 players or it become too tricky. Also if you are in a brand new Valley but have an advanced village it makes it very hard (like me). And conversely if you have a non-advanced village in an advanced valley it makes it hard, as the boats are too hard to (Swiggley who join and left). Add all these combination factors needing to be right, number of players in a valley, how advanced you are (both in Rep & other progress), how advanced the valley is (Grand Monument tasks too hard), how high the other people in you valley are as to if they've unlocked certain products, or else it makes the game experience much harder make it very hard for it to be right. It's not really like "There's not right way to play or have it", there is if you are too reasonably quickly progress. Being a player alone in a new Valley is not good. Being a player in a valley which is all highly advanced bar you, is not good So as you can see, very hard to balance well. And I think it's very easy to have it unbalanced.

Re: paige layle & Chloé Hayden 2 April 2022 5:21pm I think one of the pros of my thoughts on it was actually that I am undecided on a range of Autism issues, and I realize that this was not so much about me holding the perfect view of every autism issue, but more coming up with thoughts along the way which hopefully help us move closer to the truth. Some of what I said will be wrong, but at least it’s a start, at least I’m thinking, it’s a foundation, and where I’m wrong we can figure out why and try to learn from the incorrect logic I used and make sure not to repeat it. Getting to the perfect view on a subject takes a lot of thought and time, we may never reach perfection on every issue concerning Autism, but we can at least try to get as far as we get in the progression of thought regarding it. 3:06am 4 April 2022 There is so much I could write about this video, I love doing long descriptions, detailing at length information about the video, like it’s backgrounding and making. I’ll start with the basic, and can always add in more later, although when I say that, I very rarely do add stuff in later, partly because I get busy with new projects and partly because I forget stuff fast. But I’m glad I made this video, it at least touches on many different Autism related issues that I’ve at least thought about to some extent, and stitches them together in a story mode. It captures my thoughts on Autism as at 1 April 2022, and where I am at in terms of my thinking (thinking progression) in terms of some of these ideas. I am still very unsure on a lot of issues. But in this video I touch on most of them, so upon rewatching in the future it would retrigger the thought pattern of where I am at with my thinking on those issues and additional things that I was going to say but forgot to say. There was already something I thought of writing about yesterday but forgot what it was, that I would have included it in the description. This video doesn’t really go into much detail with my experience with Autism or various struggles I have with it. I just don’t see it happening. Here is an extract I from what I wrote (not publicly) on 9 Aug 2020. “I think ultimately the whole "Treating Autisic people with acceptance" is part of a far bigger question. I think we have hit an unbreakable wall in terms of social progress. Sexism, Racism, etc were eventually going to come down (due to Judeo-Christian values), the beliefs were so stupid they didn't last. Although I think I'm oversimplifying it. To be not racist is not the same as regularly interacting with blacks. So to simply accept a belief that racism was stupid, is a much easier step, than if they'd had to go from being racist, to inter-racial marraiage. Blacks and whites are the same, simply color is different. For a white kid to play with a black kid, they simply have to get rid of the racist belief (or not have), and then it works, the black kid is the same as the white kid (and vice versa) But autism is different. It deeply affects patterns of thinking and behaviour. It totally changes things. It means that people can't simply get rid of an "Anti-Autistic" belief. They have to actually change how they speak and act (although interacting with other races does require that if you go to live in a different culture, but most people don't do that. And the USA has a great culture of assimilating immigrants, to make it easier for both current Americans, and the immigrants. That is a far greater demand to change how you act and speak. And for most people, the demand is too much. It is of cost for an individual to interact with someone with Autism. Arguably the benefits of people with Autism being accepted into society are high, and probably for the individual the process of learning to accept another would be beneficial to them (the benefits outweigh the costs), but they wouldn't see it that way. It would be easy for [people] to hold the view "It would be better for myself and society if people with Autism were better accepted and integrated, but it will be of great cost to me, to spend a few hours each week hanging out with someone with Autism, I hope that other members of society go through the painstaking process of slowly integrated them by befriending them". They (and I) use the same line of reason for why I don't research how to cure cancer or learn about how to fix a broken arm in case I get one. Yes it would be better (for me and society) if I knew how to fix a broken arm in case I got one, but taking the time to learn that would be of great cost to me. I'll just hope that experts (which will be due to monetary incentive) learn that for me. There is not time in life to learn everything important, we rely on other people doing huge amounts of the weight lifting for us. People don't see it worth their time to spend huge amount of hours researching [some stuff], they rely on [others] to give them that information in a short amount of time.” Probably due to this pessimism, I have far lower expectations for society, and what I think that people with Autism can realistically expect to see in terms of change of societies actions/views of us. I’ll take the little wins where we can, but I don’t expect anything major to change. I’ll hope for it, I’ll be open for it, I won’t do things to stop big good change happening, I’ll actively support it, but based on my observations of society with how the change regarding other issues and the thousands of interactions I’ve had with people with people over my life time (school, church, shopping, camps, hobbies/weekly groups), I am very sceptical that we can expect much to significantly change in people being accepting of those with Autism. There are absolutely amazing people out there that really do really accept people with Autism, but they are a very small minority from what I’ve found. I think that is part of what separates paige and I on the issue of autism acceptance (and if the video increases autism acceptance or not), I think that she is a purist (One who practices or urges strict correctness, especially in the use of words) and I am not. Regarding the Mark Rober video, paige sees the imperfectness of the language used in it, I see the good it does for virally portraying people with Autism in a good light. Plus I don’t see the language used as a problem. We differ on if the video portrays people with Autism in a good light, I believe it does, she believes it doesn’t. I believe the video does good, she doesn’t. I am highlighting where we differ. I think being in the undecided position I am on many Autism issues actually is a fair/good position considering that I haven’t fully thought through it, being in this undecided place allows me to view both sides (or the main various viewpoints) easily and to hear them both out, listening, ready to be convinced either way. And even on the issue of Mark Robers video where I believe it does good, I’m still willing to hear out paige, chole and others, and even agree with them or concede to them on certain points that they convinced me of regarding Autism issues. I’m on a mission, not at a destination. This constant focus on real & perceived discrimination and oppression of Autistic people, above all other focuses, I don’t think is healthy. It leads to Autistic people developing a victimhood mentality & ingratitude. This Anti-Neurotypical (non-Autistic/Normal people) attitude that I notice growing among people with Autism is a bad thing. Just like Anti-white people, anti-black people, anti-men, antisemitic views followed by actions, are bad. It won’t lead to good, it will just harm us. I fear that we are becoming just another intersectionality minority group who will bring destruction on ourselves. Hating non-Autistic people (even Anti-Autistic people) for not accepting us, won’t help, just like hating racists won’t make them not be racist. Spouting hate on Twitter against those we disagree with or that don’t accept us, will not fix the problem, will not help the problem, it will make it worse. That all said, I’ve never actually met a single person that said that they actually hate Autism. And not caring about people with Autism is not the same as hating them. I think most of the unacceptance of Autism comes out of people just not liking/accepting/condoning difference, it’s not Autism specific dislike, they are just not willing to try to befriend people who are too different than them If we want to make people accept us more, we can’t assume/say that there is nothing we can do to make things work better. Nor does being against non-Autistic people fix the situation. It’s not an easy situation, and I am pessimistic that it can be fixed.
