Gameschooling! Cindy West, Part 3
What in the world is “Gameschooling?” It’s where fun meets education and it can literally bring life to your entire homeschool day! Yvette Hampton talks with Cindy West about this great way to make homeschooling fun (and still fabulously educational). Sometimes it’s hard to get rid of the “traditional school” mindset as we know it and venture into new ideas. But incorporating games into our homeschool creates countless opportunities for learning, social and communication skills, building relationships, creative thinking, problem solving, and…FUN!
Join us Wednesday and Thursday for the rest of this conversation.
Cindy West is passionate about homeschooling joyfully and loves to share strategies to tackle things that tend to steal joy in the day-to-day grind. A 19-year veteran of homeschooling with a master’s degree in education, Cindy has graduated two children and is currently homeschooling an 8th grader. She’s a Charlotte Mason homeschooler at heart but knows that any method or curriculum must be adjusted to work with the needs of individual families and even individual children. One of her specialties is helping parents figure out the best ways to tweak homeschooling to find great success. She teaches monthly, online Homeschool Masterclasses to parents and regularly shares creative and encouraging homeschooling solutions on her blog, Our Journey Westward. She has written several helpful books and curricula such as Homeschooling Gifted Kids and the popular NaturExplorers series. Teaching twice monthly, online classes to 1st-8th graders during No Sweat Nature Study LIVE lessons is one of her very favorite pursuits ever. She and her students have so much fun learning science and creating nature journal pages together!

Surviving the Challenges of Homeschooling - February Q&A, Part 2 - Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella
Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella answer listener questions about homeschooling a nonverbal autistic child, and how to deal with young children who struggle to get through the homeschool day. You are sure to be encouraged!
Yvette Hampton is a homeschool mom through and through, but it wasn’t supposed to be this way. Like so many other homeschoolers, Yvette and her husband, Garritt, said they would NEVER homeschool their kids, but God had other plans. She is the producer and host of the upcoming documentary, Schoolhouse Rocked: The Homeschool Revolution, being directed by her husband, Garritt Hampton. She is also host of The Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast. As a mom who is concerned for the future of this generation and the future of our country, Yvette has a deep passion to see a culture shift by encouraging people through the truth of God’s Word. Her greatest joy in life is being a wife and mom!
In the fall of 2016, she and her family sold their home and almost all of their possessions, loaded up in an RV, and began traveling the country to film Schoolhouse Rocked. They have a passion for the homeschool community and are humbled and honored that the Lord has called them to tell the stories of the millions of families who have been impacted by the homeschool revolution.
Aby Rinella is a former public school teacher turned passionate homeschool mom.
Aby resides in the mountains of the west with her college sweetheart and 3 awesome kids where they enjoy all things outdoors. She is a writer and speaker seeking to encourage and inspire women to live the life they were designed to live, to train up their children in God’s Word, and to stand on truth in a culture that has lost its foundation.
Aby and her husband, Jesse, speak and write on the benefits of pointing children to their Creator through spending time out in His creation. They are also passionate about encouraging men and women to prioritize the calling they have been given to raise their families the way they were designed. You can find them at CalledToTheTop.com or on Facebook at Aby Rinella-His Calling My Passion.

For the Love of Homeschooling, Part 2 - Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella
We all love our kids, but how do we show it? Or do we show it? What does the Bible have to say about love? Sometimes love doesn’t come naturally and oftentimes we have to really work at it. Love isn’t always a feeling, it’s often a choice. Thankfully, God has provided us with a beautiful blueprint on how to love those in our lives. Join Yvette and Aby as they talk through this important topic and give suggestions on how to love your family well.

Scripture References:
1 Corinthians 13:1-13
“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogantor rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.”
Galatians 5:16-24
”But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

For the Love of Homeschooling, Part 1 - Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella
We all love our kids, but how do we show it? Or do we show it? What does the Bible have to say about love? Sometimes love doesn’t come naturally and oftentimes we have to really work at it. Love isn’t always a feeling, it’s often a choice. Thankfully, God has provided us with a beautiful blueprint on how to love those in our lives. Join Yvette and Aby as they talk through this important topic and give suggestions on how to love your family well.
Join Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella as they discuss the love of God, family, and homeschooling! Yvette also shares some exciting updates about her family and the podcast, including the news that the Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast recently won an award from the Content2020 Christian Film and Media Festival.

Aby Rinella - The Benefits of Homeschooling, Part 2
“Anxiety in teens is higher than it’s ever been. Because these kids are having to perform at a standard that is a generalized standard that they don’t necessarily fit into and it does make sense because when we remove God’s design and plan, we end up with these things like depression. Because the Bible tells us that the joy of the Lord is my strength. And so when I’m sent into a place every day where, well, God is there but where I’m not allowed to be taught about God or speak of God or see God or do things God’s way, then it’s not going to be a joy-filled place. When you remove the Lord from the school, you’re also removing joy and strength.”
Schoolhouse Rocked: The Homeschool Revolution is feature-length documentary, currently in production. The film is intended to encourage and equip homeschool families to start strong and finish well. It follows host, Yvette Hampton as she travels the country with her family talking with education experts, curriculum developers, college and university faculty and administrators, and homeschooling families at every stage in the process, from kindergarten to college graduation and beyond. As viewers follow Yvette on this journey and share in her challenges and victories as a homeschool mom, they will gather the necessary resources and encouragement to homeschool their own children with excellence.

Aby Rinella - The Benefits of Homeschooling, Part 1
"It's not because we're drilling our kids with academics, it's because when we seek God first then I can chill out on the academics, I don't have to be stressed. I say this because I started this out completely backwards as a teacher. I said, "Okay, I need to academics first, and then I'm going to consult God on the rest," and it was a disaster. When I stopped doing that and I sought God first, naturally, academically, my kids thrived." - Aby Rinella

The Cost of Following Jesus - Ginger Hubbard

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever." - 1 John 2:15-17 ESV

For Such a Time as This - Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella, Part 2
How do we remain steadfast at home while the world is seemingly on fire? We turn to God’s Word and heed His instructions to us. We MUST gird up and teach our kids to do the same. He is a merciful God with a great plan and, like Queen Esther, He has each one of us here for such a time as this!
Join Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella for this encouraging conversation on the important role of mothers and how to live with courage.
Listen to Yvette Hampton and Aby Rinella on The Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast - https://Podcast.SchoolhouseRocked.com
Scripture Referenced:
Esther is the only book in the Bible not to mention the name of God. But God certainly wasn’t absent. His presence permeates much of the story.
God’s sovereignty and faithfulness permeates each scene
Esther 4 “When Mordecai learned all that had been done, Mordecai tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and he cried out with a loud and bitter cry. 2 He went up to the entrance of the king's gate, for no one was allowed to enter the king's gate clothed in sackcloth. 3 And in every province, wherever the king's command and his decree reached, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting and weeping and lamenting, and many of them lay in sackcloth and ashes.
4 When Esther's young women and her eunuchs came and told her, the queen was deeply distressed. She sent garments to clothe Mordecai, so that he might take off his sackcloth, but he would not accept them. 5 Then Esther called for Hathach, one of the king's eunuchs, who had been appointed to attend her, and ordered him to go to Mordecai to learn what this was and why it was. 6 Hathach went out to Mordecai in the open square of the city in front of the king's gate, 7 and Mordecai told him all that had happened to him, and the exact sum of money that Haman had promised to pay into the king's treasuries for the destruction of the Jews. 8 Mordecai also gave him a copy of the written decree issued in Susa for their destruction,[a] that he might show it to Esther and explain it to her and command her to go to the king to beg his favor and plead with him[b] on behalf of her people. 9 And Hathach went and told Esther what Mordecai had said. 10 Then Esther spoke to Hathach and commanded him to go to Mordecai and say, 11 “All the king's servants and the people of the king's provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called, there is but one law—to be put to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter so that he may live. But as for me, I have not been called to come in to the king these thirty days.”
12 And they told Mordecai what Esther had said. 13 Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not think to yourself that in the king's palace you will escape any more than all the other Jews. 14 For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” 15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai, 16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.” 17 Mordecai then went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.”
