Pride and The Humility of Jesus Compared | Athens Bible Church
Part 2 of the message on pride and humility: the pride of Satan and other biblical figures is compared with the humility of Jesus.
Sinful pride: arrogance, mocking, haughtiness, boasting and conceit. If you have ever been angry with someone because of what they did to you, you have succumbed to the sin of pride. The solution is humility, but not humility as defined by the world. Biblical humility is the state of being where you are not focused on yourself.
Only through appreciation for our own sinful condition and the magnitude of Christ' sacrifice for us can we become truly Biblically humble.

The Root of All Evil Might Be Money; But, The Root of All Sin is Pride | Athens Bible Church

James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Looks at God's Creation | 2 Corinth 5:16-17 | Athens Bible Church
Maybe that new JWST telescope will show people the wonder of God's creation and get them interested in knowing The Heavenly Father.
There is a debate about the age of the earth among Christians, but The Bible is pretty clear on the subject. The world is full of lies and we urge you to consider everything you think you know - especially those things that are greatly promoted by Satan and his cronies.
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 King James Version
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Redeemed By The Blood of The Lamb and Lord Jesus Was That Lamb | Ephesians 1 | Athens Bible Church
God had a plan and blood was the payment, but not your blood. Only the Blood of Jesus would satisfy the Heavenly Father.
Ephesians 1
King James Version
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

The Old Testament Foundation for New Testament Biblical Seperation | Athens Bible Church
The pastor, as sheppard of his church, has three primary duties: lead the flock, feed the flock and fight for the flock. Many modern church leaders fail to properly do all three and leave people vulnerable to false chritianity that creeps in as a friend but devours as an enemy from within.
Good for you that God deals with seperation from false worship in The Old Testament and again in the New Testament. Idolitors existed then and still do now, many hold prominent positions in churches around the world. Some may sit next to you on Sunday. Ever wonder why the teaching you get seems watered down? Maybe it is - open The Bible and learn for yourself.

Riches Can't Save You But God Can - Serve Him and Grow Heavenly Rich | Luke 16 | Athens Bible Church
Don't look to Bitcoin or a worthless human government currency for salvation - money makes God's saving faith harder to accept, but rich Christians do exist.
Luke 16:1-15
King James Version
1 And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.
2 And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.
3 Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.
4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.
5 So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
6 And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty.
7 Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.
9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.
11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

Jesus Died for You Maybe You Should Live for Him | 2 Corinth 5:11-15 | Athens Bible Church

2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Watch us every day and twice on Sunday but find a local church and start attending - NOW
Video Transcript
my point tonight do we see something for
the church of jesus christ for our local
church do we see it's important
if if the people that made that trip to
jerusalem it was important for them it's
important for their families it was
important for the larger body of christ
i i fear a little bit
that this whole covet thing
has
um
lessened people's
sense of responsibility to be together
personally and collectively
and i i i want our ministry on youtube
to continue
but i certainly don't want it to be an
excuse for people
stay home
now if you have to stay home because
you're concerned about a loved one or
you can't leave but that's a different
thing
but
may god help us just to sense this and
as we pass the bread and the cup
and as we preach christ's death till he
comes to one another
and we
we
celebrate his body and celebrate
his blood and we do it together
we do it together
it's meant to be one of those together
thing
now i've got one of those little cases
with the cups and the bread and i'll
take the people in the hospital
i'm not real big on that because
communion is really a collective thing
but i do it sometimes
especially for people who can't get out
i will do it if they ask me do it i'll
do it
and i'm glad to do it
but for my own sake
my own opinion
if i got a miss church communion is the
last time i want the last service i want
to miss
that to me special
i'm celebrating my high priest
to the eternal spirit offered himself up
to god
and
i'm celebrating i want to celebrate
collectively with others that believe
the same and feel the same
i want to watch as people take the bread
and drink the cup i want them to preach
to me and i can preach to them and
non-verbal sermon
my faith in jesus christ as my savior
all of us have to miss church sometimes
i'm just saying for me and i've had to
miss a few communion services here not
too
many because to me that's a special one
so the psalmist david felt
that this worship in one place
based on the god-given high priest and
his functions
based on the people getting together
from all over
was not something
big like
and he knew something
there's blessing between god's people
do that
for there
the lord commanded the blessing
even
life father we need blessing from you
[Music]
we can't bring the dew
we can't be a blessing to others
we can't
make the oil
we need the spirit of god
we need the work of christ
we need the fellow christians that are
brought together to edify each other
to bless us tonight as we gather
and for those that have to be home and
can't be here there's many of them and
we love them wish they could be here
you know many of them wish they could be
we pray for them
and we how precious it is whenever we
get the opportunity
we don't want to be legalistic about
this criticize anybody we know people's
situations are different
for many reasons
bless this service
may we have your blessing tonight
may we leave this place
with a sense
god's blessing on this service
and our lives for being
may we be a blessing to each other while
we're here

Is The Return of The Prodigal the Best Known Parable - Possibly | Luke 15 | Athens Bible Church
Welcome home says our Hevenly Father when we decide to run back to His care and protection. Why wait, there's a party in heaven with your name on it. The angels are waiting - it's party time!
Luke 15
King James Version
1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.
2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.
10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

The Lottery Has High Odds but Being Picked by God Has Higher | 2 Corinth 5 | Athens Bible Church
When we think of improbabilities, many consider winning the lottery as one; but, being picked by God (as one of His elect) is almost an impossibility - in fact, for man it is.
Give glory to the Heavenly Father if you got a winner - a ticket to heaven. Be Bold and Preach The Good News.
2 Corinthians 5:1-10 King James Version
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.
5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Sons of Belial Exist Today and Always Have | Genesis 4 | Athens Bible Church
Cain, the slayer of Abel, was the first son of the devil (belial) and many more followed; however, God had a plan. Eve brought forth Seth and from his offspring Noah was born. We all know the rest of the story... If you don't, crack open that Bible and read it.
Genesis 3 - KJV
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Genesis 4 - KJV
1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord.
2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
6 And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
9 And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand;
12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
13 And Cain said unto the Lord, My punishment is greater than I can bear.
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.
15 And the Lord said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
16 And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
21 And his brother's name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord.

God Rules His Creation - All of Creation Including You and Me | Psalm 93 | Athens Bible Church
The One who made everything has the right to rule it as He wants. Don't like the way your life is going, maybe you being in charge is a bad plan.
Let God rule and life becomes easy, just as promised by King Jesus. Focus on the future - the everlasting future.
Psalm 93
King James Version
1 The Lord reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.
4 The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O Lord, for ever.

Read Bible Verses Daily and Happiness Will Follow | 2 Corinth 4:13-18 | Athens Bible Church
Dust off that old Bible and read it daily for more happiness in your life - it won't read itself.
2 Corinthians 4
King James Version
13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.
15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Return of Prodigal Sons and The Fathers That Welcome Them Home | Luke 15 | Athens Bible Church
Father's Day can be a challenge for fathers with progigal sons; just ask our Heavenly Father - He knows all about them. Come home to The Father and He will welcome you just like the one in the parable told by Jesus.

Banishment From The Garden of Eden Was A Blessing Not a Curse | Genesis 3 | Athens Bible Church
Most people see the banishment of Adam and Eve as a curse, but further investigation shows it was a blessing. Death of the sinful body results in birth of the renewed body.
Had they eaten from the tree of life in the sinful state - permanent sin would remain.
Genesis 3
King James Version
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

God Has a Plan for Your Life and Every Life | Psalm 138 | Athens Bible Church
King David understood that God had a plan for his life and he wasn't that worried about this fading moment because of that understanding. God also has a plan for your life, He has a plan for all lives. All things were planned before the foundation of the world. But, remember this - it was all planned for Jesus. Want to be like God, be Jesus centered just like God's plan is.
Psalm 138
King James Version
1 I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto thee.
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O Lord, when they hear the words of thy mouth.
5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord: for great is the glory of the Lord.
6 Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The Lord will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

Persecution For The Gospel's Sake - BRING IT ON | 2 Corinthians 4:8-12 | Athens Bible Church
Peter and John went off rejoicing after being beaten for preaching the gospel. Christian persecution started early and continues today.
You can expect similar persecution when you preach God's Word - provided that you are preaching the TRUE GOSPEL and not those imitation gospels warned about by many biblical authors and King Jesus himself.
If your Pastor is loved by the world, something might be wrong - that's not me speaking, that's Jesus.
2 Corinthians 4
King James Version
8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.
