Meeting of two little praying mantises
Little praying mantises are very curious and nimble. They already look like adults, although they still have up to eight molts.

Mantis female lays eggs (ootheca)
I managed to photograph how the praying mantis gives birth to offspring. The intervals of oviposition after copulating depend on the food intake and the overall physical fitness of the female. On average, 11 days are needed for the female to form and deposit an ootheca, which contains around 100 to 200 eggs. Copulation usually takes place in September or October, but the eggs overwinter and the larva do not hatch until the following spring. Hatching is strongly influenced by environmental conditions such as temperature (at least 17 °C) and humidity. Females prefer to deposit their eggs on solid substrates at warm and sunny sites. Most eggs from one ootheca hatch at the same time along the entire convex site, as worm-like prelarvae. The hatchings always occur in the morning.

The cat attacked the crow
This morning, walking along the fence, I heard a strange noise. Turning around, I saw a ginger cat catching a crow. Other ravens tried to save their kindred by attacking the cat, but this was unsuccessful. The cat left with the prey.

The spider managed to escape from the praying mantis
Feeding the common praying mantis at home. In this video, a mantis caught a spider. But this time the praying mantis was left without dinner - the spider turned out to be nimble and, seizing the moment, deftly escaped. The praying mantis will attack anything that moves, because it is a real predator. But he is also not always lucky :)

Amazing view two praying mantises, different colors
A green mantis has been living in my house since summer. I recently got a brown mantis. The video captures their first face-to-face meeting. These are two praying mantises of different colors, but the same species. These are two females. It was funny to watch this scene, but it was scary that they would now rush at each other) to eat)

Angry pigeon
When we were feeding the pigeons, we noticed that one of them was very cocky. He drove all the other pigeons away from food and tried to peck. This is probably the leader of the pigeon flock 💪.

Praying mantis catches a fly on the smartphone screen
I once saw a video in which a frog tries to catch a non-existent fly on a smartphone screen and decided to repeat it with a praying mantis. And I was really surprised when it worked. The praying mantis really thought that this fly was real and tried to catch it.

Mantis eating a big bumblebee
Praying mantis feeds exclusively on live prey and behaves among peaceful six-legs insects, like a tiger devouring living beings. However, in his appearance, except for the deadly hunting tools, there is nothing to inspire concern. He doesn’t even have a lack of elegance, thanks to his thin waist, elegant delicate green color and long wings. He does not have huge jaws opening like scissors; on the contrary, his head ends with a sharp beak, as it were.

It seems that our praying mantis will soon become someone's victim.
Behind the scenes: while we were filming how the praying mantis hunts a grasshopper, our cat became interested in the process and, it seems, began to hunt our praying mantis.
here is a video with a grasshopper: https://rumble.com/vmepj3-the-praying-mantis-quickly-caught-and-ate-a-grasshopper.html?mref=78na&mc=2c880

Hummingbird or butterfly
Here is the hummingbird of the insect world, namely The hummingbird hawk-moth (Macroglossum stellatarum). Those who first meet this amazing insect often confuse it with a miniature hummingbird, in fact, this is an ordinary butterfly of the hawk family. But you can't argue with the fact that there really is something similar in their appearance and habits.

Saving a bird from thirst and in extreme heat
These days there is a strong heat, even the birds can not stand it. Here is one of the birds that has lost strength due to the extreme heat - The cinereous tit.
We picked her up exhausted on the road, brought her home and gave her water to drink. As soon as the bird came to its senses, we immediately released it into the wild. We hope that everything will be fine with her.
