In this video I show how to scan for privacy codes or repeater tones (CTCSS tones or DCS tones) using a Baofeng UV-5R ham radio. The process of tone-scanning is easy but there are a few important steps specific to the Baofeng UV-5R and other Baofeng ham radios that if you skip, you wont be able to scan for the CTCSS/PL/DCS/DPL tones. CLARIFICATION: I accidentally changed the TX frequency on repeater channel 23 from "467" to "462", and then copied that to custom channel 45 - Do as I say, not as I do, as this would make it impossible to use these fictional repeaters.. I go over the menu system for the Baofeng UV-5R, show you how how to use the menu system, and I explain what each menu option is and what it does. The menus and options on the Baofeng UV5R are similar to other radios such as BTech, Retevis, Radioddity, and Wouxun - Both ham radios and GMRS radios. Once you know how to use the menus on a Baofeng, you should be able to pick up most other radio and use it's menu system. CORRECTION!
