Trying to identify this animal, each blind man grabs a portion of the elephant, coming to different conclusions as to what this mysterious entity is. The moral of this tale is that they are all looking at the same object but with different interpretations. The song uses this concept, yet to discuss religious believers - Hindu, Christian, Muslim, etc. - and how they traditionally condemn one another for worshipping different gods and even endure bloodshed, when, in reality, why not embrace the similar vision of believing in a higher power/creator - together? The opening verse of the song, screamed by Tyler, represents the Hindu believer through the 4 stages of Hindu life (the Student, the Father, the Teacher, etc.). Followed by Jake (cleans) comes a Christian believer, exclaiming he has no belief in reincarnation, but kneels to his God. Jimmy, Tommy, and Tyler vocalize back and forth, shouting aspects of their religious beliefs at one another - Taoism, Hinduism, Muslim etc in the groove. All in all, the “pages we sift through establish our sinew,” or, the scriptures we worship mold our outlooks on life. Aaron is a great audio engineer & guitarist - you may recognize his name from other video descriptions, as he's mixed some stuff for me here & there over the years. He also used to have a band called 7Horns7Eyes (still technically a band, I guess. But they haven't put out any new music in a hot minute). At ANY rate, *someday*, whenever he finally gets around to doing another 7Horns album, we've talked about my drumming on it (as I've continually expressed interest in doing so over the years, LOL). I love what Aaron writes - it's SUPER heavy, atmospheric, & just all-around SICK! So ANYWAYZ - Aaron was working on this stuff with Jared, & at some point suggested having me play on the songs he wrote. Jared was into the idea, & BOOM: The rest is history! The 5 I played on are... 1) Dreams That Will Never Be (this song) 2) Insidious Majesty 3) Speed Run 4) Piercing The Darkness 5) Blood Letter & yes, I recorded playthrough's for all 5. So there're 4 more to come! I will note however that the drum videos are NOT the same takes as the album takes - by the time I got home from the last tour I did with Light The Torch, I only had limited time to get the tracking done for these songs. So I opted to not do video for the actual tracking; instead I just learned the songs well enough to punch my way through. THEN, a couple weeks later, after continuing to rehearse them / get them tighter (or, get them to where I could do them in one full take), I re-recorded all of them (Lol), & filmed video for it. Hopefully that all makes sense. Probably doesn't matter to most people, but for any super-nerds out there, I figured I'd mention it! Some other credits: Obviously, shoutout to Aaron Smith (!), who wrote the songs (as well as the initial drum ideas - he honestly writes SICK drum parts. I just changed things a bit & added embellishments). I'd say the song I changed most / did my own thing on is "Speed Run", so make sure to check that one out too!
