Planter Box Preparation, and Sometimes Stuff Just Breaks
In this video, We worked on collecting the soil from last years planter box area with the 1949 8N Ford tractor. I added chicken and duck compost to the garden mix this year. The new planter box location is gradually being built, and looking good. The new planter boxes were charred a bit, hopefully this will extend the life of the wood. I fixed a broken part on our John Deere D125 tractor. The juvenile ducks got to go outside the coop and play for the first time. Enjoy!

Lohre Farm is located just east of Crown, MN. Sarah and I purchased our farm in 2017 and have grown from a small garden to a few acres of sustainable food growth. With the help of our children, we grow a variety of fruits and vegetables.
We believe and practice Korean Natural Farming (KNF) methods. Through the use of organic fertilizers like Oriental Herbal Nutrient, Fermented Plant Juice and Fish Amino Acid we can make a big difference in the quality of the vegetables we produce. Improving soil health, with the proliferation of Mycorrhizal Fungi in the soil increases the plant yields and quality of produce.
Through the use of many animals on Lohre Farm, we can improve our soil health, all while producing farm fresh food to eat. We have chickens, ducks, cats and dogs, and plan to introduce pigs this coming year. All of these animals assist in making our property more valuable and enjoyable.

We Built A New Chicken Run, and I Became a Cobbler
We built a chicken run and I became a shoe cobbler. Over this past weekend we worked on building a new outside area for the ducks and chickens. For the most part they can come and go as they please around are property, but from time to time it is nice to have them confined to the coop area. We have several projects we are working on that are going to require grass seeding. The chickens will quickly find these areas and be very devastating to them. Also, Both, BOTH my boots broke while working on this project. Enjoy!

How I Salvaged Old Farm Gates For A New Animal Shelter
Our farm gate and fence was destroyed by a midnight driver this past November. The materials were piled on our farm stand where they sat all winter. I finally came up with a good way to repurposed the salvageable items. I build gates for an animal shelter.

Mink “Proofing” Our Duck and Chicken Coop
On March 11th 2022, we had our third mink attack in our duck and chicken coop. Now that it is spring, and the frost is out of the ground we can finally work on predator proofing our coop. ultimately there is no perfect solution to keep predators out, but we are hopeful our hard work will help keep the animals safe.

Building Our New Greenhouse [Part 1]
Over this past winter our greenhouse plastic wrap failed. After looking at the cost to re-wrap the entire thing, and realizing the cost of poly has tripled over the past couple years, Sarah and I decided the money could be better spent for a more permanent greenhouse.
The kids and I had a blast taking down the old garden and greenhouse, and getting to use our 1949 Ford 8N Tractor for some assistance. We have some pretty big plans for the new greenhouse. We are hoping to build as much of it for free using old windows, doors and pallets. Enjoy part 1 of our Building Our New Greenhouse video.

How To Build A Worm Composter Bucket
In this video, Van and I build a worm composting bucket. Worm composting or Vermiculture can produce great fertilizer, as well as, a nice little centralized location for all the fishing worms (bait) you could desire. Our design is very simple. A 5 Gallon bucket and lid, with a few holes drilled into the bucket for worms to travel in and out.

Repairing our Farm Gate and Fence [Part 1]
Back in November 2021 our front fence and farm gate was destroyed by a midnight driver. After arguing with the insurance company for months, and patiently waiting for winter to turn to spring we are finally starting to have nice enough weather to begin the repair process.
Lohre Farm is located just east of Crown, MN. Sarah and I purchased our farm in 2017 and have grown our operation from a small garden to a few acres of sustainable food growth. With the help of our Children, we produce a variety of fruits and vegetables.
We produce a variety of fruits and vegetables from Cucumbers, Zucchini, Radishes, Tomatoes to Beets, Green Beans, Carrots and Sweet Corn. Strawberries, blueberries and Raspberries are available when in season. All items are sold here at the farm on our antique hay wagon, or at local farmers markets we attend.
Through the use of many animals on Lohre Farm, we can improve our soil health, all while producing farm fresh food to eat. We have chickens, ducks, cats and dogs, and plan to introduce pigs this coming year. All of these animals assist in making our property more valuable and enjoyable.
We Believe God provides us with all of the natural resources needed for a wholesome life.

Lohre Farm Pond
One of the really great joys, and assets of our property is our self contained one acre farm pond. We are able to keep the pond open almost all year by the use of our 20ft. windmill. The windmill’s only job is to flex a air diaphragm and create a column of air bubbles that help keep the pond from freezing completely over as well as provide needed oxygen.
