Trump says he’d ban government from labeling speech as misinformation - Former President Trump said that he’d ban the U.S. government from labeling any domestic speech as “misinformation” or “disinformation” if he returns to the White House. -- “I will sign an executive order banning any federal department or agency from colluding with any organization, business or person to censor, limit, categorize or impede the lawful speech of American citizens. I will then ban federal money from being used to label domestic speech as mis- or disinformation,” Trump said in a pre-taped video shared with the New York Post. The former president also said he’d fire federal bureaucrats who he perceived to have engaged in domestic censorship. “Directly or indirectly, whether they are the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Health and Human Services, the FBI, the DOJ, no matter who they are,” he said of those he’d seek to fire. Trump further pledged to direct the Department of Justice to “aggressively prosecute” the alleged censorship. Among other initiatives, the former president called for the federal government to break ties with any nonprofits and academic programs that are aimed at tacking mis- and disinformation. “If any U.S. university is discovered to have engaged in censorship activities or election interferences in the past, such as flagging social media content for removal of blacklisting, those universities should lose federal research dollars and federal student loan support for a period of five years, and maybe more,” he said. The Biden administration has sought to clamp down on the rampant spread of disinformation, particularly regarding the coronavirus pandemic. “The unvaccinated are responsible for their own choices. But those choices have been fueled by dangerous misinformation on cable TV and social media,” President Biden said last year. Trump’s comments about censorship come amid the release of the “Twitter Files,” installments which new Twitter CEO Elon Musk says will reveal information about “free speech suppression” on the platform before he bought it. Since his takeover of the social media app, Musk moved to reinstate Trump’s account, which was banned following the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol. The former president said in his video that the most recent release confirms a “censorship cartel” and “a sinister group of deep state bureaucrats, Silicon Valley tyrants, left-wing activists and depraved corporate news media” at work to censor Americans’ speech. Iranians Knock Turbans Off Clerics' Head As Part Of Anti-Hijab Protests - This unique display of contempt for the country's religious establishment comes as international concern grew over Iran's response to the demonstrations. As protests over the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini continue in Iran, young Iranians are now filming themselves knocking the turbans off the heads of clerics. Several videos are being widely shared on social media in which schoolgirls and boys are seen knocking clerics' turbans and running away as part of the ongoing anti-hijab protests. In one viral clip, a young girl can be seen running up behind a cleric walking down a nearly empty street and knocking his turban off. While the girl did not stop to look back and continued running, the cleric was seen stooping to pick up his turban. "Removing the turbans of clerics has turned into an act of protest after regime killed hundreds of innocent protesters," the caption of the video read. In another clip, a cleric was seen picking up his turban from the middle of the road. "Removing the turbans of clerics has turned into a daily routine for Iranian teenagers," the post's caption read. Actor Rob Schneider Explains Why He Left the Democratic Party: ‘I Had it with Them’ - Schneider, 58, explained why he is no longer a Democrat during an appearance on "FOX & Friends" Wednesday morning. In response to former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard leaving the Democratic Party, he said, "It shouldn't be such a shock. We don't get ten parties, you get two. And I really feel like I don't want the Democratic Party trying to run my life." He continued: "And there's not one aspect of your life that they don't want to interfere with. So I had it with them. So I got out of California and moved to the slightly freer state of Arizona." Schneider said California's governor is the main reason he decided to leave his native California. "I mean, [Gov. Gavin] Newsom pushed me over the edge," said Schneider. "I mean, it's just like, I just don't think your life gets better there. It gets worse." The actor said his beliefs don't align with the Democratic Party's position on God and family. "You know something's wrong when people say, like, if you put God and family and country first, that's somehow controversial. How is that controversial? So I think at a certain point, you have to say, enough of this, and stand up to it." Schneider is a lifelong Democrat who was born in San Francisco. DDT: Banned Lifesaver Death from malaria means convulsions and delirium, retching and diarrhea, joint and abdominal pain so excruciating that coma can be a blessing. The parasitic infection destroys the body’s red blood cells and clogs its capillaries, depriving vital organs and the brain of blood. That malaria strikes some 300 million people annually—and kills an African child every 30 seconds—is all the more tragic given how preventable it is. But modern environmental ideology simply doesn’t permit the use of DDT, the most effective means of eradicating the ghastly disease. Dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT) certainly ranks among the most senselessly demonized synthetic compounds. Despite decades of research vindicating the insecticide, the World Health Organization recently announced plans for a “zero DDT world,” i.e., the total phase-out of the chemical during the next decade. Instead, the agency, in conjunction with the UN Environmental Program, will spend $40 million to test “non-chemical” (read less successful) methods of malaria control. Only three years ago, WHO had endorsed its widespread use, declaring that “DDT presents no health risk when used properly” and “Spraying is like providing a huge mosquito net over an entire household for around-the-clock protection.” The agency’s sanction in 2006 came 30 years after it renounced DDT amid unsubstantiated claims of environmental risks. Such policy yo-yo frustrates those on the front-lines of the malaria fight who see special interest politics, not science, driving public health policy. Indeed, groups who prosper by collecting contributions for bed nets and other less effective prevention methods are among the most virulent critics of DDT. As Roger Bate, of Africa Fighting Malaria, recently told the Wall Street Journal: “Sadly, WHO’s about-face has nothing to do with science or health and everything to do with bending to the will of well-placed environmentalists. Bed net manufacturers and sellers of less-effective insecticides also don't benefit when DDT is employed and therefore oppose it, often behind the scenes.” It was not always so. Swiss chemist Paul Muller was awarded a Nobel Prize for his formulation of DDT in 1939. Thereafter, it became the premiere weapon in defeating malaria across North America, Southeast Asia and a chunk of Europe, freeing a billion people from the miseries of infection. However, full-scale eradication efforts were never mounted in Africa, where 90% of malaria deaths now occur—most among children under age five. Widespread agricultural application of DDT captured the attention of naturalist Rachel Carson and others, who claimed the chemical was destroying wildlife and causing cancer in humans. In fact, a great deal of Carson’s conclusions about human health and the environment were patently wrong, more the product of her imagination than proper scientific research. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency banned DDT in 1972 despite the findings of administrative law Judge Edmund Sweeney, who concluded that DDT is not a carcinogenic, mutagenic or teratogenic hazard to humans nor does it have a deleterious effect on freshwater fish, estuarine organisms, wild birds or other wildlife. Canada likewise banned its sale and use in 1990. Nothing better has come along in the ensuing years. DDT remains the most affordable and effective method of “vector control,” which means it prevents infection by reducing the transmission of malaria from infected mosquitoes to people. Spray the walls of a house and the bugs are repelled from entering. The chemical so irritates mosquitoes that they exit fast. And, it kills any bugs that actually land on sprayed surfaces. Its potency can persist for up to a year, depending upon the concentration of spray and type of wall surface. Proper and timely applications of DDT reduce malaria transmission by up to 90%. Despite DDT’s benefits and relative safety, the United Nations and World Health Organization prefer instead to promote more costly and less effective control methods. Citing success with a pilot program in Central America (60% reduction of malaria cases), the agencies intend to replace DDT with “pharmacosuppression,” i.e., dispensing the drug chloroquine to curb infection. But chloroquine has been shown to cause ventricular arrhythmias, while mosquitoes build resistance to the drug over time. Moreover, the systematic delivery of legitimate drugs to millions of people in the poverty-plagued far reaches of Africa will be problematic, if not impossible. (In contrast, locals can quickly be taught proper methods of in-home spraying.) The “zero DDT world” campaign also includes promoting bed nets and window screens; planting mosquito-repellent trees and stocking waterways with mosquito-hungry fish; draining ditches; and encouraging personal hygiene. None of which can match the affordability and ease of DDT, but all of which pass muster with the chemical-phobes. Democrats have a lengthy history of refusing to accept the results of elections they lost. After the 2000, 2004 and 2016 elections, they objected to counting electoral totals...In a recent appearance on CBS, Republican Rep. Paul Kinzinger, R-Ill., who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump and serves on the House Jan. 6 committee, said: “The only thing we need for democracy to survive is the knowledge that you can vote, that that vote counts, and we live with the winner and loser. If half the country believes that that wasn’t accurate, you can’t expect democracy to survive.” Where was this concern about “election deniers” when Democrats have complained about “stolen” elections? In 2018, Democrat Stacey Abrams claimed she lost her Georgia gubernatorial race due to voter “suppression.” In her speech after the election was called for her opponent, she refused to concede. Former Vice President Al Gore, in a Washington Post interview two years after his presidential defeat to George W. Bush, said, “I believe that if everyone in Florida who tried to vote had had his or her vote counted properly, that I would have won.” In January 2001 several House Democrats voted against certifying the election results of 2000. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., said in a joint session of Congress: “The objection is in writing, and I do not care that it is not signed by a member of the Senate (as is necessary to force a Senate vote on the challenge.)” The Senate voted 74-1 against the Democrats’ challenge. Though Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., voted against the challenge, he praised Boxer in 2005 for making it: “I thank her for doing that, because it gives members an opportunity once again on a bipartisan basis to look at a challenge that we face not just in the last election in one state, but in many states.” Hillary Clinton consistently calls the presidential election of 2016 “stolen” and described then-President Trump as “illegitimate.” Former President Jimmy Carter said in 2019: “I think a full investigation would show that Trump didn’t actually win the election in 2016. He lost the election, and he was put into office because the Russians interfered on his behalf.” New York Attorney General Letitia James said she “will never be afraid to challenge this illegitimate president.” Had Ohio, in 2004, gone to Democrat John Kerry, he would have become president. President George W. Bush carried it 51% to 49%, a margin of about 100,000 votes. But Jan. 6 Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., on Jan. 6, 2005, joined 30 other House Democrats and Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., in refusing to certify Ohio’s presidential election results, claiming “voter suppression” in addition to arguing, also with no basis in fact, that the Diebold voting machines were manipulated to reelect Bush. Three years later, she told CNN that her opponent “won under the rules of the game at the time, but the game was rigged against the voters of Georgia.” A USA Today fact check said, “There is little empirical evidence (opponent Georgia then-Secretary of State Brian) Kemp stole the election. About the 2016 election, former Obama Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson testified under oath that, while the Russians tried to manipulate voting machines, there is no evidence that a single vote tally was changed. As to the effect of Russian interference, Johnson said that there’s no way of knowing whether the interference affected public opinion or the election result. Nevertheless a 2018 YouGov poll found 66% of Democrats believe that Russia changed vote tallies to elect Trump in 2016. A 2018 Gallup poll found 78% of Democrats believe that Russian interference in 2016 “changed the outcome of the election” in favor of Trump. About the 2020 election, CNN politics editor Chris Cillizza wrote: “76% of self-identified Republicans in a new national Quinnipiac University poll. That’s the number of Republicans who said they believe there was ‘widespread fraud in the 2020 election.'” As noted, a greater percentage of Democrats, 78%, consider 2016’s presidential election to have been “stolen” compared to 76% of Republicans who feel likewise about 2020. Tony Bobulinski tells Tucker Carlson Joe Biden was 'chairman' of Hunter Biden's overseas business dealings - Tony Bobulinski, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, believes Joe Biden essentially served as the "chairman" and a "figurehead" to his son’s overseas business dealings. Bobulinski, a retired lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, is the former CEO of SinoHawk Holdings, which he has long said was a partnership between a Chinese energy firm and the Biden family. During an exclusive interview that will air Tuesday night on "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Bobulinski said he met with President Biden "multiple" times prior to the 2020 election to discuss his son’s business ventures. "There are hundreds of data points that Joe Biden was acting in – in a capitalistic term, I would say the chairman," Bobulinski told host Tucker Carlson. "The chairman of JPMorgan doesn't take eight meetings down with the people, you know, analyzing companies. The chairman serves a purpose, right? He's a figurehead," Bobulinski continued. "He shows up in meetings, shakes hands, advises, you know, has faith in his team. Effectively, that was Joe Biden's role in the Biden family business ventures and around the world. "Joe Biden was adamant to the American people that he had no knowledge of his family's business deals," Bobulinski told Carlson. "How, if he had zero knowledge of that, could he be telling his son that he's in the clear on an article?" Bobulinski also accused Hunter Biden of "fraud" against his business partners by tampering with key documents to funnel over $5 million into a company he owned during the latest sit-down with Carlson. Bobulinski, who previously spoke to Carlson in 2020, insists the Biden family has aggressively leveraged its famous last name to make millions from foreign entities. He initially said he wouldn't have gone public with his story had House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff's comments saying his claims were part of a "Russian disinformation" campaign been retracted. This time, he is speaking out once again after he feels the FBI didn’t properly handle his claims. Mark Levin: It’s time for a ‘true discussion’ about race and abortion… Life, Liberty and Levin host Mark Levin challenged the Democratic Party during his Sunday monologue about the history of racism and abortion in America. “The Democrat Party doesn’t want to talk about inflation, immigration, food prices, gasoline prices, crime,” Levin said. “It wants to talk about race, and it wants to talk about abortion. So let’s talk about race and abortion, but it’s time for a true discussion.” Levin listed Democrats going back to President Woodrow Wilson, recounting their racism or associations with racists, but he saved some powerful condemnation for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt “But the Democratic Party’s greatest icon was FDR, Franklin Roosevelt, largely due to his new deal agenda, it transformed United States away from constitutionalism and capitalism toward centralism and socialism,” Levin said. “For this reason, more that been done to immunize his representation from his racist legacy than any other public figure dead or alive.” Levin recounted the internment of Japanese Americans under FDR’s presidency, “1942. Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9006,” which he summarized as “the military rounding up 120,000 Japanese Americans including 70,000 U.S. citizens, that were forcibly relocated to internment camps in remote parts of the country. 10 different military camps in the Midwest, 1 in Arkansas. They lost their homes, property and their liberties.” Levin questioned at how Democrats demand to tear down monuments to confederate generals and change the names of entire military bases yet asked “How is it the name ‘the Democrat Party persists and continues?” Levin offered his theory that the name remains unchanged, “Because they control the culture right now.” In addition, Levin took aim at Margaret Sanger, the controversial founder of Planned Parenthood. “The big push for abortion came at beginning of the last century with Margaret Sanger who founded the Planned Parenthood organization, which your tax dollars have gone to in the aggregate amount of billions of dollars to support,” he said. Levin condemned modern Democrats for supporting partial-birth abortion, describing the procedure in gruesome detail, which could hypothetically done up until the moment of birth. He pivoted back to discussing where the abortion movement began in America, calling out Margaret Sanger as “the great feminist who founded Planned Parenthood.” He read accounts of how she pushed for forced sterilization of tens of thousands and presented at a Ku Klux Klan rally in 1926. He read one quote attributed to Sanger where she proclaimed “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” “She was a horrific racist,” Levin said, noting that “It wasn’t until a year or so ago, that Planned Parenthood and other apologists for Margaret Sanger finally threw in the towel, 100 years later, and said yes she was a eugenicist.” He warned that even today, “79% of Planned Parenthood’s abortion activity takes place in minority neighborhoods, mostly Black neighborhoods.” “This is the history of that organization, this is the history of the radical abortion movement, this is the history of the Democrat Party. Now you want to talk about race and abortion? Let’s do it,” Levin concluded his monologue.

Surprise! BYU found no evidence of racial slurs at volleyball game - All signs point to the BYU-Duke volleyball incident being just another hate crime hoax. Add it to the list with Jussie Smollett's run-in with MAGA hat-wearing, bleach-pouring racists outside a Chicago subway, Bubba Wallace's terrifying encounter with a noose in a NASCAR garage, or a Colorado Rockies fan's injudicious shouting of a racial slur at a black batter. Duke University volleyball player Rachel Richardson claimed after a match against Brigham Young University two weeks ago that a member of the BYU student section was repeatedly calling her the N-word while she was serving. The only problem? There's no evidence of that at all. Establishment media propagated another racism hoax- Brigham Young University has found no evidence that a racial slur was yelled at Duke volleyball player Rachel Richardson, meaning establishment media once again jumped on a racial hoax without waiting for evidence. BYU interviewed 50 eyewitnesses and reviewed “security and raw footage from all camera angles taken by BYUtv of the match.” The university had put four ushers, a police officer, and a Duke assistant athletic director in the student section after Duke’s coach relayed Richardson’s accusation of a slur being used. Richardson said the slurs were louder in the fourth set of the match, yet none of the people placed in the student section heard them, nor did the students or Duke’s players aside from Richardson. Of course, Richardson didn’t hear them either — because they were never said. This has become completely clear. The fan Richardson singled out as having used the slurs was shown on video not to have said them, and BYU has now lifted the ban it initially placed on him. Not one person in the sold-out school-record crowd of 5,507 could vouch for Richardson’s claims: not the fans, not security, not her own teammates. It didn’t matter to establishment media, which treated this as true from the moment the accusation was made. CNN, ESPN, NPR, ABC, NBC, the New York Times, and the Washington Post all reported the nonexistent slurs as fact without bothering to look into the accusation and find out if it was true. (We used to call that “journalism.”) Jemele Hill, the Atlantic’s go-to race-baiter, predictably pushed the false claim. USA Today’s Mike Freeman, the less successful version of Hill, went even further. After police determined that no slur was said after reviewing the video, Freeman declared that anyone who doubted Richardson’s claim was a conspiracy theorist. And South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley continued the despicable trend of turning women’s basketball into a progressive political tool, canceling games with BYU over slurs that were never used. Nothing will be learned from this, just as nothing was learned over Jussie Smollett’s hate crime hoax or Bubba Wallace’s noose hoax or the Colorado Rockies slur hoax. Establishment media are desperate for anything that perpetuates their narrative of racism running rampant in America, even if that means taking fake stories and presenting them as true, regardless of silly things like “facts” or “evidence.” None of the journalists or pundits who pushed this hoax should be employed, but they will face no consequences for this. This is what their outlets incentivize them to do. The media demand for racism dwarves the supply, and so these media figures and their outlets will dutifully jump on the next racial hoax with all the enthusiasm they did for this one. #fakenews #bias #hoax

It's become popular in certain political and media circles to say social media must clamp down harder on false information. Some lawmakers have even threatened tech companies with severe consequences for failing to stop the spread of fake news. But the idea that these companies could ever do this adequately is laughable—something driven home by new reporting on Hunter Biden's laptop. Back in October 2020, the New York Post first reported on the laptop—allegedly left by President Joe Biden's son at a computer repair shop and containing emails about Hunter's work for Ukrainian energy company Burisma. The emails suggested Burisma was paying Hunter in order to get access to his dad. The story was quickly panned by prestige media and denounced by Democrats, who characterized it as an attempt to make then-candidate Joe Biden look bad and possibly another attempt by Russians to influence a U.S. presidential election. Even mentioning it to criticize it was frowned upon by some on the left. This narrative was so pervasive and persuasive that Facebook temporarily limited distribution of the Post story and Twitter briefly blocked users from sharing it entirely. Now, The New York Times—which was critical of the Post story when it came out—has published a piece backing up many of the Post's initial assertions. The story details the U.S. Department of Justice's investigation into Hunter Biden for possible violations of laws surrounding taxes, foreign lobbying, and money laundering. Federal prosecutors "had examined emails…from a cache of files that appears to have come from a laptop abandoned by Mr. Biden in a Delaware repair shop," the Times reports, before going on to describe the contents of some of these emails. These emails "were authenticated by people familiar with them and with the investigation," it says. Speaking on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Zuckerberg explained, "The FBI, I think, basically came to us - some folks on our team - and was like, 'Hey, just so you know, like, you should be on high alert… We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on notice that, basically, there's about to be some kind of dump of that's similar to that. So just be vigilant.’" Zuckerberg acknowledged that "the distribution on Facebook was decreased" of the New York Post’s story about Hunter Biden's laptop, noting, "fewer people saw it than would've otherwise." Cartels harvest children's organs, then fill the corpse with drugs for trafficking, according to one smuggler. President Biden and his Homeland Security chief Alejandro Mayorkas were criticized Thursday after a Central American trafficker revealed what the United States' open border policy has allowed Mexican drug cartels to do to unaccompanied or kidnapped children. The trafficker, speaking anonymously to investigative reporter Sara Carter, said the cartels are very keen on, at times, even purchasing children – often for the purpose of using them as drug mules or harvesting their organs to sell on the black market. The trafficker said juvenile organs fetch high prices for cartels and that the deceased children's bodies are often filled with illicit drugs and smuggled into the United States using the corpse as a form of protection against detection. "In many cases, they just have the children there and they have a purpose, only they know what purpose they're going to serve. But yeah, they are just going to keep them there and [the children are] not going to be free ever again," the trafficker told Carter. Buck Sexton, a former CIA officer and current co-host of the "Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show" told Fox News the trafficker's tale exposes the open-borders policy of Biden and Mayorkas as deeply unethical. "It's been the case for the entirety of the Biden administration," he said. "Their approach to the border is unethical. It's immoral, and it's also deeply cynical as a matter of politics. They could try to change the incentive structure for illegal crossings. They could try to limit the lawlessness as best they can give additional Border Patrol resources." Sexton said the Border Patrol officers he engages with reply that they are now essentially humanitarian officers rather than law enforcement, in part because in many cases, the law isn't observed. "What you have is the highest level of drug overdoses in U.S. history," he added, pointing to how fentanyl trafficked through Mexico from China is one of the top killers of young people year-over-year. "MS13 and other transnational gangs treating our southern border like a wide open highway. The trafficking of human beings, as Sara just discussed, this is all appalling." Sexton said Biden has now decided to make the situation even worse by dispatching with Donald Trump's ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy forged with the Obrador government in Mexico City. "They've basically done that anyway because fundamentally they don't want the situation to change when it comes to illegal crossings. And as a result of that, this just continues," he said. "This should be the biggest national security emergency the United States faces – not, in fact, Ukraine." Speaking to Fox News, Carter said she did not expect to hear the grisly recollections of the trafficker when it came to the treatment of children, but added that the Mexican authorities had previously investigated a cartel for juvenile organ trafficking in 2014. China: MI5 and FBI heads warn of ‘immense’ threat - The heads of UK and US security services have made an unprecedented joint appearance to warn of the threat from China. FBI director Christopher Wray said China was the "biggest long-term threat to our economic and national security" and had interfered in politics, including recent elections. MI5 head Ken McCallum said his service had more than doubled its work against Chinese activity in the last three years and would be doubling it again. MI5 is now running seven times as many investigations related to activities of the Chinese Communist Party compared to 2018, he added. The FBI's Wray warned that if China was to forcibly take Taiwan it would "represent one of the most horrific business disruptions the world has ever seen". In response, China Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said British intelligence was trying to "hype up the China threat theory" and he advised the head of MI5 to "cast away imagined demons". He said the FBI director had also been "playing up the China threat to smear and attack China" revealing a "Cold War mentality" and urged him to stop making "irresponsible" remarks. The first ever joint public appearance by the two directors came at MI5 headquarters in Thames House, London. McCallum also said the challenge posed by the Chinese Communist Party was "game-changing", while Wray called it "immense" and "breath-taking". Wray warned the audience - which included chief executives of businesses and senior figures from universities - that the Chinese government was "set on stealing your technology" using a range of tools. He said it posed "an even more serious threat to western businesses than even many sophisticated businesspeople realised". He cited cases in which people linked to Chinese companies out in rural America had been digging up genetically modified seeds which would have cost them billions of dollars and nearly a decade to develop themselves. He also said China deployed cyber espionage to "cheat and steal on a massive scale", with a hacking programme larger than that of every other major country combined. The MI5 head said intelligence about cyber threats had been shared with 37 countries and that in May a sophisticated threat against aerospace had been disrupted.

Where is the feminist outrage at honor killings, forced veiling, cutting off female genitals, and Shariah law? Why are feminists, who can expound theses condemning lipstick and dolls, silent when it comes to the oppression of Muslim women? ​Let's ignore oppression in the Muslim world. It's much more important to talk about pumpkin spice lattes. Intersectional feminists are so obsessed with cultural sensitivity, so mired in collective white guilt, that they’ve succumbed to the “soft bigotry of low expectations” (to borrow a phrase from the writer Michael Gerson). How utterly hypocritical, to condemn misogyny when its perpetrators are white, but to turn a blind eye to horrific practices like FGM and honor killings, or worse still, defend them so as not to be branded as “racist” or “Islamophobic” (Germaine Greer, anyone?) Worse still, Western feminists actively condemn those who speak out against Islam, accusing them of racism and bigotry and effectively shutting down honest debate. Take Ayaan Hirsi Ali, for example. An ex-Muslim who was a victim of female genital mutilation as a child, she fled an arranged marriage and escaped to the Netherlands, eventually becoming a politician, writer, and fierce advocate for women’s rights. She is by all accounts a feminist hero. Yet, the leftist feminist critique of Hirsi Ali is so widespread that despite her liberal views, she took a position at the conservative think-tank the American Enterprise Institute. Imagine if Hirsi Ali had been a dissident and outspoken critic of Christianity instead. Is there any doubt that the left would have embraced her? ​Of course, intersectional feminists aren’t totally silent when it comes to Islam. They’ll talk about it, but only when they want to make false equivalences and pat themselves on the back for acknowledging how terrible white people can be, too. The issue of the Islamic face veil is another article all together, but suffice to say that the erasure of identity associated with the burqa or niqab would be seen as diametrically opposed to standard feminist theory...except when it comes to Islam, because that would be racist/bigoted/Islamophobic (take your pick). According to the left, all of the problems in the Muslim world can be traced back to Western colonialism and imperialism, and not, you know, the Islamic scriptures that are literally at the core of everything groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda do. The bottom line is that the regressive left’s empty rhetoric is hurting the very people they claim to stand for. By refusing to speak openly about Islam, intersectional feminists are silently condoning the atrocities that Muslim women all over the world face on a daily basis. A fundamentalist interpretation of Islam is incompatible with the fundamental values of Western democracy, and no amount of evasion, obfuscation and cognitive dissonance changes that.
