Last week's CLN board meeting addresses services that leave the community asking questions over how these quality taxpayer-spent events are related to literacy, especially during a $200,000 deficit.

Suzanne lets the board know the homeschool community would like to see classic literature return to the CLN catalog and put those books on display.

Emily highlights how the library programming is used to address literacy in her family. Then she addresses raising the taxes to pay for the services she uses.

Tamara Kermelis, Kootenai County's Reclaim Idaho leader (2021), from Hayden, doesn't want library programs cut. She highlights the library director, Alexa, who had contracted an attorney without board knowledge.

Megan is a social worker and addresses families in poverty using library resources.

Jacob gives public comment regarding homeschool resources and censorship. It was not disclosed at this meeting if Jacob was a library staff member of CLN.

Heather goes through the Summer Reading Program and highlights some of the programs offered by the library. Are taxpayers engaging in socialism through the CLN system?

It was revealed that CLN had budgeted $17,000 for streaming music services through Freegal.

Cassie Robertson is hired as a Communications Coordinator for CLN. First day, May 8th, 2023.

It seemed to be a professional transition with the new library board members, but it didn't appear professional for some library staff. Arms thrown up, eyes rolling, and large sighs of frustration are documented.
