Bob Dylan fooled the world for decades claiming to have written many of the melodies to his hit songs when in fact most of the melodies were from preexisting songs that he did not write, including Blowin In The Wind.
In a last nail in the coffin scenario James Damiano’s movie “Eleven Years” draws the straw that breaks the camel’s back, rivets Bob Dylan to his secret past of plagiarism and rewrites musical history”……Virtue Films
No artist can lay claim to the controversy that has surrounded the career of songwriter James Damiano. Thirty two years ago James Damiano began an odyssey that led him into a legal maelstrom with Bob Dylan that, to this day, fascinates the greatest of intellectual minds.
Since auditioning for the legendary CBS Record producer John Hammond, Sr., who influenced the careers of music industry icons Charlie Christian, Billy Holiday, Bob Dylan, Pete Seger, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughan, James has engaged in a half a billion dollar copyright infringement law suit with Bob Dylan.
As the curtain rises on the stage of deceit we learn that CBS / Sony international recording artist, Bob Dylan not only used songs and lyrics written by James Damiano but also solicited Mr. Damiano’s materials for a period of over ten years and eleven months. One of those songs is nominated for a Grammy as the best rock song of the year. Ironically the title of that song is Dignity.
It is now common knowledge that Bob Dylan has been accused of plagiarism in over two hundred separate incidences. In Dylan’s early career he would plagiarize one or two songs from different artists. By the late seventies his professional schedule became very demanding of his time and he was afforded less time to write. It was at this time he was introduced to James Damiano’s materials.
Damiano a prolific writer provided a treasure trove of material to Dylan over the course of eleven years of which Dylan took the liberty of taking advantage of without crediting Damiano for said materials. Eventually Dylan acquired twenty seven years of James Damiano’s writing.

Bob Dylan's Stealing of James Damiano's Songs
Bob Dylan fooled the world for decades claiming to have written many of the melodies to his hit songs when in fact most of the melodies were from preexisting songs that he did not write, including Blowin In The Wind.

Bad News for Bob Dylan / Dylan's Attorney Sanctioned by Court 1 Million
Dylan's Attorney Sanctioned by Court 1 Million Dollars
The sanctions order is against Gibson Dunn, but the judge specifically pointed to the behavior of two partners: Orin Snyder and Robert Blume.
Facebook and Gibson Dunn were ordered to pay $925,078.51 in fees and costs to the plaintiffs in the Cambridge Analytica scandal.
Plaintiffs lawyers, who settled the lawsuits last year, had asked for more than $2 million in their sanctions request.
A federal judge sanctioned Facebook owner Meta Platforms and its law firm, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, for what he ruled as “ridiculous,” “frivolous” and “laughable” arguments that purposely stonewalled plaintiffs suing over privacy violations.
In a Thursday order, U.S. District Judge Vince Chhabria of the Northern District of California found that Facebook and its lawyers repeatedly gaslighted the plaintiffs attorneys and purposely misinterpreted discovery orders in the multidistrict litigation over the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Chhabria ordered them to pay over $925,000 to the plaintiffs attorneys in fees and costs.

“This case is an example of a wealthy client (Facebook) and its high-powered law firm (Gibson Dunn) using delay, misdirection, and frivolous arguments to make litigation unfairly difficult and expensive for their opponents,” Chhabria ruled. “Unfortunately, this sort of conduct is not uncommon in our court system. But it was unusually egregious and persistent here.”
Their conduct was not a matter of incompetence or ignorance, he added.
“Instead,” he ruled, “the court finds by clear and convincing evidence that Facebook and Gibson Dunn’s conduct reflected a sustained, concerted, bad-faith effort to throw obstacle after obstacle in front of the plaintiffs—all in an attempt to push the plaintiffs into settling the case for less than they would have gotten otherwise.”
His order against Gibson Dunn is against the firm, but he specifically pointed to the behavior of two partners: Orin Snyder in New York, and Robert Blume in Denver.
“Orin Snyder, who served as lead counsel when Gibson Dunn’s conduct was at its worst, should consider himself lucky that he has not been sanctioned personally,” the judge asserted in a footnote. “Presumably, this ruling will help ensure that he will not be so lucky if he acts this way again.”

Bod New for Bob Dylan Dylan's Lawyer Sanctioned 1 Million Dollars

probative information by twisting the words of opposing counsel and the magistrate judge,” Chhabria wrote.
Chhabria also addressed in the order discovery requests for data about the named plaintiffs in the class action.
“From the very beginning, Facebook and Gibson Dunn stonewalled, telling the plaintiffs to ‘Google’ information,” Chhabria found.
Although Chhabria limited his order to those discovery requests, the judge noted misbehavior by Facebook’s lawyers in depositions, which were like “fighting matches,” and in their repeated assertions that attorney-client privilege protected certain documents. Several Facebook employees refused to answer questions in depositions, and Facebook’s internal communications suggested a “culture hostile to litigation,” he wrote.
So why did they do it? Chhabria said it wasn’t about zealous advocacy but misconduct of a “more nefarious sort.”
“Recall that Facebook was being sued for conduct that was the subject of a major scandal, a scandal for which the company issued numerous public apologies,” he wrote in the order.
Facebook paid $5 billion to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and failed to dismiss the civil litigation. As a result, its lawyers, as part of a concerted campaign, aimed to resist discovery to make the case difficult, expensive and frustrating for the plaintiffs, leading to a settlement, Chhabria found.
The judge ruled, “Facebook and its lawyers fell into their roles with ease, and they took things way too far.”
