The 2023 PlayStation showcase showed us a lot of new details about Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 is going to have the black symbiote suit and it's shaping up to look really crazy. The Batman Arkham Trilogy on Nintendo switch made a huge mistake. Not only will we not get Origins, but it's also a weird non-committal release. Batman Arkham Origins Remastered, Return To Batman Arkham Origins or just a Batman Arkham Origins remaster has been asked for by many fans for years. This is a game I've advocated for seeing for years, but I really don't think it's likely right now, due to the attitudes around WB Games and WB Games Montreal, the current focus on Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League, the attempts to be different with Gotham Knights and more. With the recent announcement of the Batman Arkham Trilogy on Nintendo Switch, it's becoming almost comical how ignored this game has actually been over the years. There are many different games in the Batman Arkham series, including Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, Batman Arkham Origins, Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate and Batman Arkham Knight. There are plenty of interviews with Kevin Conroy out there, but I wanted to take a look back at a particular one that has been coming up in the news outlets online more recently. In this interview, Kevin detailed some of the work that went into voicing the Arkham version of Batman and it was very interesting to me. I wanted to talk about something that really annoys me in gaming - achievements and trophies. There are good uses of these things, but they can actually really hurt games. There's a very odd idea in gaming that somehow being new or graphically impressive makes a game good, while older games are somehow bad or relics of the past. I have never understood where this idea came from or how so many people can cling onto it. Some of my favorite games, like Final Fantasy 7, Fallout New Vegas, Dark Souls, Jak and Daxter, Bloodborne, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts and more all have one thing in common - they're not new. I've been noticing a lot of misplaced brand loyalty lately and the idea that companies are our friends and we need to be super thankful for the things they do. I completely disagree with this notion and I truly believe it's used by massive corporations to control people and sway public opinion. Obviously, there are creative individuals within every company who deserve a ton of respect and really do want to create art and make good things for people. That said, at the top of these companies, most of the executives themselves are only interested in one thing - money. They don't care what you or I think and they double or triple down on mistakes because it's easier than admitting they were wrong.
