El Pulpo by Artesano Del Tobacco Toro Grande Cigar Review - This 6x56 sharp box pressed stick features a dark brown mottled wrapper with a light but firm pack, oily satin feel, large double cap and pungent sweet earthy and tobacco aroma. First light reveals a flawless draw with medium-full huge plumes of thick rich smoke showing a musty aged tobacco, light earth and dark roast coffee with a long finish of the same. The first third burns slow and steady with the same perfect construction and notes. The 1/2 way point comes at 45 minutes with flavors unchanged. Ending at 1:20 the last third added a sweet caramel to the mix, dropping the little pepper note, making for a very smooth satisfying profile to the nub. HVC 500 Aniversario Selectos Cigar Review - This 5 5/8x46 stick features a dark brown firmly packed yet light wrapper with a slightly oily, satin feel, triple cap and pungent sweet cocoa aroma. First light reveals a good draw with rich plentiful medium-full bodied thick smoke with a big black pepper blast and deep earth lingering through the long finish. The first third smokes fast but very well dropping a solid ash chunk, adding a dark caramel to the mix with the pepper mellowing a touch. By the end of the 2nd half the caramel had disappeared, just leaving a plain earthy and slightly pepper basic flavor profile, but construction is flawless. Ending at 55 min to the hot nub, there were no further changes. First light reveals a perfect draw with huge clouds of medium-full bodied smoke showing notes of a dark cocoa and building pepper zing through the long finish. The first half remained the same dropping inch long ash chunks. Ending at 1:10 the whole thing was pretty consistent with just the addition of a coffee near the end and the pepper zing wearing off. The first third continues the perfect performance, with a medium body and flavors joined by a smooth creamy coffee, with the finish now long, holding all notes to the next draw. Ash falls in solid 1.5" chunks, hitting the 1/2 way point 35 minutes in with the body up to medium-full and a caramel sweetness joining the coffee and cocoa. Ending at 1:15 the last third kept the same notes but shifted the coffee to the forefront, with the burn slowing down to the nub. Crowned Heads Le Careme Pastelitos LE 2023 Cigar Review - This 4x54 stick features a dense, dark cocoa, smooth oily wrapper with a rock hard pack, double pigtailed cap and faint damp cocoa aroma. First light reveals a flawless draw with a fruity, sweet leather combo adding a cinnamon zing through the short finish. Body is medium and the smoke thick and rich. The first half burns perfectly and very slowly, acting like a Nub cigar. Flavors are more complex keeping the fruity sweetness and light leather adding a touch of nuttiness and coffee now through a long finish. Ending at 50 minutes to the hot nub, notes were mostly unchanged just bringing up the coffee a touch and the sweetness down.
