Sorry about the football noise in the background of some of this video.
I am a Montana artist residing in the beautiful high plains desert in southwestern Montana, also called the Big Sky Country! My paintings are heavily inspired by the colorful skies and it's effect on the colors of the land. I work primarily in oil sticks, and sometimes tubed oils using the CYMK palette. The vast majority of what I share here on YouTube involves my creative process: paintings, time lapses, tips, techniques, and how I do some of the technical and marketing tasks involved with being an artist today.
In 2000, I left a corporate job of 19 years, sold my house the next day and drove 1000 miles from Minneapolis to Montana the next day. I didn't know anyone here at the time, but have found a love filled life and am so glad I followed my passion, and hope you do too! PASSION ON!!

FULL LENGTH ART VIDEO | "CYMK LIMITED PALETTE" | Oil Stick Art | Carol Zirkle Montana Artist
Hi! I have been very interested in the power of the limited palette where you use the CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and the Key which is black in this case). In this video, I did an experiment with the CYMK colors using oil sticks. It was really fun! I think it would take some more practice to get the first layer spot on, but it is doable.
