The belief that God exists in 3 persons, the Father the Son, and the Holy Spirit may ultimately be beyond our understanding – but it is not a contradictory belief. If God is all powerful, and all-loving…then surely He could stop all the evil and suffering, and surely He would stop all the evil and suffering! But as there still exists evil and suffering, then it proves that there cannot be a God who is both all-powerful and all-loving. If there is a God of any kind, then He is clearly either not all powerful, or He is not all loving. This is the reasoning used by so many people who struggle to consider the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the truth claims made within the Bible, because there is this huge and seemingly immovable obstacle to such faith – which we can summarise as being ‘the problem of evil and suffering’. WIthin the video you will find not only a logically solid approach to addressing this problem, but also a useful mnemonic to help you to speak to those who are struggling with this problem.
