On Monday April 18, Federal Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle of Florida ruled that the CDC’s longstanding mask mandate for transportation is "unlawful." This includes commercial air flights in the United States. That means if you want to fly without wearing a face covering, the law is on your side and always has been. Bully breeds are common pets. However, did you know that several homeowners' and renters' insurance companies across the United States don't allow policyholders to own certain dog breeds or what appear to be certain dog breeds, such as pit bulls? The Wiggs family in Arizona learned this the hard way. They've had two of their homes insured with The Hartford Insurance for 20 years and said they've always owned dogs during those 20 years without any issues. About five months ago in late September, the family adopted what the animal shelter presumes is a pit bull mix named Echo after losing one of their Australian Shepards. She's about two years old. Then, in February, the Wiggs found out their homeowners' insurance was dropping them after a routine walk-through, even though the family says Echo doesn't have any violent or aggressive history. There's a new bill in the works in California. California Assembly Bill 2098 aims to hold doctors accountable that spread "COVID-19 misinformation" and send them to the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California for discipline. This could also mean that doctors that question the "effectiveness" of COVID-19 vaccines could lose their ability to practice in California. I reached out to Assemblymember Low, who introduced the bill this week, along with his entire team, for an interview. I have not heard back as of Feb. 16. The Silva family of Modesto, California has six older children and 11 grandchildren. However, in 2020, a relative reached out to Rachal and her husband about fostering three young kids from Livermore, California. Before finding the Silvas, the three young children experienced homelessness, an environment with drug addiction, and a lack of stability. Now, the Silva family has been raising the kids full time for a year and a half, taking on the multistep adoption process. The Silvas even sold their house to buy a new one so all the younger kids could have their own bedrooms, took all the required classes and training, and had all the adults in their house get fingerprinted through the DMV. On February 3, 2022, it looked like the long adoption process was finally complete, until an Alameda County social worker threw them a last-minute surprise: the Bay Area county is requiring young kids to receive one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine before they can be adopted forever. Alameda's County Social Services Agency responded to my public records request with documentation of its policies. According to the adoptive placement agreement which all adoptive parents must sign,“until the adoption is final: I/We agree to place the child under the care of a licensed physician and to follow recommendations for health care for the child, including immunization.” As of March, the county confirmed in writing to me that the policy remains the same. School children in California must wear masks for hours a day due to California's two-year-long "state of emergency" that clearly wasn't enforced at a packed NFL game. Maddie decided if Governor Newsom was safe without a mask, so was she, so on Monday, she said she peacefully walked into class without a mask on. Her teacher offered her a mask, but she wanted to "follow Governor Newsom's example." The first video is included with permission from Maddie's family. It has thousands of views, along with social media videos of a few other Southern California kids that also decided to peacefully protest the mask mandate on Monday. Millions of people have received the news that their workplace is mandating the COVID-19 vaccine, usually worded in the name of "safety" and "CDC guidelines." But what if it was anything but safe for you to take the COVID-19 vaccine? Enter Dan Thomas. He was a news anchor for the Gray Television affiliate in Sherman, Texas for years. Dan said he found out the hard way that he's allergic to polysorbate and PEG, which the CDC says are in all three of the COVID-19 vaccines on the market in the United States. Despite both the CDC and Dan's doctor saying he shouldn't get the shots, Dan said he received a generic email saying he's out of a job. "Gray Television has set the bar again with new policies for our employees that are meant to provide the safest possible workplace," said the company, which owns KXII. "Effective September 1, 2021, all new full-time and part-time hires must be "fully vaccinated" against the coronavirus (as defined by the CDC). This full vaccination policy will extend to all of our managers effective September 15, 2021, and to all other employees, as well as all outside contractors, tenants, and guests who enter our workspaces, on October 1, 2021.
