The Economic Freedom Fighters under the leadership of the organisation's President, Julius Malema, led a national shutdown across South Africa. Malema addressed the protesters in Pretoria, as the marches happened simultaneously throughout the country.

Niehaus calls for President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down claiming that he and his government has dismally failed South Africans. They will march from Church Square to the Union Buildings.
