Seal Or No-Seal?
Thanks to my amazing subscribers (friends) I really wanted to get out this morning to see the sunrise. The sea has been like a millpond for days now and it just looks amazing.
Slightly longer video than usual, but I hope you will forgive me as I couldn't stop recording the amazing scene I found. Seal Or No-Seal? Answer is in the video. I really hope you enjoy this one

Is Our Deputy Mayor Correct?
#RotherDistrictCouncil #NoToNortheye
Last night I had a question from a viewer which our Deputy Mayor didn't like. Since then, this clip was posted on a Facebook Group Page and I was accused of being childish, abusive and even the Deputy Mayor himself wrote that I had consistently spoken about him on my channel, which is simply not true.
Consequently, I invited the Deputy Mayor on to Monday's show next week to discuss Northeye. Not only has he declined this offer, but for some reason I have been blocked from the facebook group and my comments deleted.
Your comments are very much welcomed, even if you think I'm wrong, I'll not delete your comments or ban you from this platform. (There are other ways you can be banned from this platform though)

Monday Livestream #NoToNortheye
Pleased to confirm Nigel Jacklin will be joining us this evening to give an update on the local campaign here in Bexhill, East Sussex. Northeye site proposal as an asylum centre for migrant guests.
If Huw Merriman MP is to be believed, then this site will now be 'closed access'. In other words, only "illegal detainees who have broken laws in the UK will be housed there".
While this might be a better option for the community, those living closest may still feel an impact of this scheme. During the building work making the site ready, and with migrants on site, both scenarios are pretty daunting if this is on your doorstep.

Wednesday Live
Hello you wonderfully weird lot!
I'm back in control (almost) but I did go for a walk today. Determined to see you tomorrow. Actually looking forward to it. I missed ya!
I have to discuss Florida and Hurricane Idalia and some local news you might be interested in. Mainly though, I just want to talk to you and say thanks for your support.
MotherHag is doing ok and YorkshirePud is out of hospital after her life-saving operation. So we have a lot to be grateful for and plenty to be getting on with. Any questions, I'll be happy to answer (within reason)

Two Campaigns - One Goal!
#NoToNortheye #SaveOurNortheyeCommunity #NoBarge #Wethersfield #Scampton #asylum
Tonight I was able to speak with Jeff Newnham and Nigel Jacklin who represent two separate campaigns working towards the same goal. To stop migrants moving into a disused RAF Radar base near Bexhill.
This is not because they are racist bigots, neither is the rest of Bexhill, Dorset, Scampton or Wethersfield. Its because the community has not been consulted, there are not enough services to provide for those already living in these areas and crime rates have proven to increase in areas used to house migrants. Add to this, the house prices dropping by up to 50% and we have a problem!
We discuss in an adult mature manner, how best the community can deal with such problems

Another fascinating conversation courtesy of Mr. Neal Skelton who we saw last week. This time he’s taking us to Mt. Everest, as a fundraiser for MacMillan Cancer Support.
I hope you enjoy this slide show as Neal recalls his hazardous journey to help others with their own hazardous situations back home.
An incredible, inspiring man who knows all about overcoming adversity both in his professional and private life.
A link to MacMillan Caner Support is below, if you can’t afford to donate, please don’t worry. Might you share this video on your socials, that would help immensely.
Revenue created by this video will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support | The UK's leading cancer ‘care’ charity.

Washington Old Hall
#WashintonOldHall #GeorgeWashinton #AmericanIndepenanceDay
A special treat for you on the 247th anniversary of American Independence Day this July 4th 2023.
Thank you to Anna for kindly showing us around Washington Old Hall, the ancestral home of George Washington and allowing me to film her tour.
Considered a ‘founding father’ of the United States, the country’s first president, George Washington, is often thought of as all-American. However, his roots start here, at Washington Old Hall. Discover the history of this house and its journey through time, including its earliest years, what it tells us about 17th century life and its use in the 20th century.
From Wessington to Washington
The origins of the first President of the United States, George Washington, are right here in Washington village.
In the ancient County Palatine of Durham, and dating back to Anglo-Saxon times, the name has variously been spelt Wessynton, Whessingtun and Wassington.
It’s now commonly known and spelt as Washington – even if some locals pronounce it Weshintun.
The origins of the 'Washington' name
Around 1180, William de Hertburn, a tenant of the Bishop of Durham Hugh le Puiset, exchanged his holding near Stockton for that of Washington.
The bishop was reorganising his estates and needed Hertburn to consolidate his lands in that part of the Bishopric, or district.
Washington, other than for the land belonging to the church, was untenanted and, therefore, available to William. With Washington now his new home and as custom dictated, William assumed 'de Wessyngton' as his new surname.
Building Washington Old Hall
Washington Old Hall incorporates a large portion of a medieval manor which was home to the Washington family. Whether William built himself a new manor house or moved into an existing one is unknown.
The earliest parts of this building date to the mid-13th century, a time when there was relative peace on the Anglo-Scottish border and funds were available from the marriages of successive Washingtons to wealthy widows.
Parts of the original building remain, the most obvious being the pointed arches at the west end of the Great Hall which could have been part of a screen passage arrangement connecting the hall with the kitchens

The Northumbrian Police Helicopter Service
The antonym of a villain is a hero, and not all of them wear capes, even those who fly!
Today, I was fortunate and privileged to be invited to the home of Neal Skelton, who introduced the ‘Eye-In-The-Sky’ to Northumbria Police as he and his team were the first to bring a helicopter into service for the police to tackle crime and search for missing persons in the North East of England.
A tough concept to prove with such high costs involved, however after only two days in service, they knew they were on to something that would help change the effect of policing on the ground. Who would have known just a few years before, this valuable, irreplaceable assistance would come in the form of Eyes In The Sky?
This video take us through the history of policing from the sky, particularly in the North-East of England as Neal shares with us his personal accounts of what was involved to make this happen. A fine example of overcoming adversity and focusing on the positives.
Absolutely Average is proud to present a far from average inspiration. I look forward to your comments on this one!

Brinkburn Priory Tour
A real treat for you as we have a private guided tour of Brinkburn Priory & The Manor House.
Thank you so much to Esther for agreeing to show us around and kindly allowing us to share this video with you publicly. We mush also mention G. Martin, who is the ‘Social & Content Executive, North’ on behalf of English Heritage for their permission to officially share this video to our YouTube Channel.
Brinkburn Priory is tucked away amongst the woodland, within a picturesque loop of the River Coquet. Lace up your boots and take a scenic ten minute walk from the car park to discover this hidden gem.
The 12th-century church of the Augustinian Priory was completely reroofed and restored in the mid-19th century. It is one of the best examples of early Gothic architecture in Northumberland. Stepping inside will transport you back in time. See the striking stained glass windows and William Hill organ. And while you’re there sing a song to appreciate the beautiful acoustics of the building.
Pick a spot on the grass or a bench to take in the tranquillity of this unique place. There’s lots of space for little legs to have fun too. And if you’re lucky you might even see otters in the river while you’re here.
You don’t need to book your ticket in advance, but you will always get the best price and guaranteed entry by booking online ahead of your visit. If you are a Member and wish to book, your ticket is still free.
