I am sure you have always wanted to cuddle a koala… Well, I know a place where all of your dreams can come true: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary! Located only a 20-minute bus ride from Brisbane City, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary takes care of more than 130 koalas. In fact, Lone Pine holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s first and largest Koala sanctuary!
How much does it cost?
- Adult: $36 / Student: $24.
Add a Koala Cuddle photo* for $25
When is it open? 9:00am – 5:00pm daily. (1:30 pm – 5:00 pm on Anzac Day.)
There are so many reasons you should visit, here is what you can do and why I had so much fun with Koalas.
Why you should visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
Realize your dream: touch a koala!
Brisbane’s Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was one of the few places in the world that allowed visitors to hold a koala. To keep the koalas happy, the keepers now hold the koalas while you stand next to them and give them a friendly pat. It’s definitely worth it!

Finding Lizards in the wild
How do you find a lizard? Well.. you can find wild lizards along old wooden fences and around rocks, especially flat rocks.
My wife and I went to Roma Street Parkland in Brisbane City for an afternoon stroll around the gardens. They were absolutely spectacular.
At Roma Street Parkland the lizards are quite small but they have larger heads and shorter limbs whereas the animals at South Bank are also fairly small but they have smaller heads and longer limbs.
beware if you're terrified of lizards, you might step on one (it blended into the ground) and they were around every corner.

Roma Street Waterwall Fountain
The Water Wall at The Celebration Lawn looks exactly how it sounds – a wall of concrete with streams of flowing water gently cascading from the top to its base. The wall can light up in the evenings given it an extra spectacular appeal. Cushioned by pathways and the grass, it is easy to get up close to this wall of water and is the perfect background for a selfie or photo with family and friends.

Driving Through Foggy Brisbane l Queensland Australia
Heads up if you’re on your way into Brisbane this morning, it’s a bit foggy. Driving through foggy Brisbane is ain't good. It causes a headache for the early morning commute.
Do you know what causes the fog? Well... There's plenty of moisture on the ground and with clear skies and light winds overnight allow the ground to cool down and form that fog, which is basically cloud on the ground level.
It should clear over the next hour or two as the sun rises.☀️

Tamborine Wine Tasting
Do you know someone who loves wine? Cheche loves it. Looking at her bag, it's pretty obvious she bought wine but I think she wants more.
We had a lovely visit to this distillery. For $5.00 you get three liqueurs and one spirit tasting. My husband and I tasted each other so we got more tastings. They were really quite delicious and we ended up buying three bottles of some very tasty liqueurs in beautiful bottles. They would be a great present but we are keeping ours.
It would be easy to walk out with half a dozen bottles full of different flavors if you like something small but tasty after dinner. An artist/owner used to do the pattern on the bottles by hand but now they do prints of the originals and it is done mechanically as it was too much for one person to do. An unexpected pleasure to finish off our great day in the mountains.

When you least expect it... Surprise scare cam
Oh, I couldn't resist... Cheche was walking in the garden at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and I saw the perfect opportunity to scare her. I laughed so hard but she didn't seem to see the funny side of it.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. lol

Pavilion Garden Bar - Mt Tamborine's Favorite Pub
After spending a couple of hours on the walking tracks around Curtis Falls, it was time for lunch and a drink. Ambles up to the nearby shops and we found at the Curtis Falls favorite pub, the "Pavilion Garden bar, and Ice Creamery" where there was plenty of seating and a good number of vegetarian options on the menu.
The service was fine. The order placed easily and then I grabbed a table to wait for my lunch. Didn't have to wait too long...maybe 10 minutes at most.
The salad was fresh and lightly dressed, the chips were crisp and a really warm and the vegetable pastie looked homemade - it was massive and very tasty. So, all up it was a very nice lunch for $14.90.
Positioned as it is near a corner, it is in a prime position to see the comings and goings.
We enjoyed the tranquil and relaxed atmosphere in the garden bar and their tasty tapas. Perfect place to unwind and listen to music whilst enjoying a few cold drinks.

Dreamworld Gold Coast re-opened after lockdown- Dreamworld 2020
I love theme parks but since the covid quarantines and lockdowns, Dreamworld Gold Coast has been closed. I have been waiting patiently for my Favorite theme park to reopen: Mainly because I have a Dreamworld annual pass that was doing nothing but gathering dust! But, finally, the park has re-opened!
I was a little slow and not all the rides were going but it was a good opportunity to wander around without the crowds and queues.
------
Dreamworld and WhiteWater World are re-opening on Wednesday 16 September. We can't wait, and we don't want you to, either! Make your first visit to the park quick and easy by visiting Guest Services during one of the times below to have your Pass redeemed before we open!

Fortnight Lily
The Fortnight lily (variously known as African iris or diestes bicolor) gets its name from its recurring two-week flowering cycle during spring and into summer. This is a narrow-leaved species that grows to 30 in. tall with medium green leaves that quickly grows to form dense clumps in gardens and landscapes. It is quite robust and should be divided every 3-4 years to maintain a suitable size and character. It is a good plant for pots, parkways, around bioswales, and feature elements in raised planters.

Kangaroos at Australia Zoo - A Cute Kangaroo Video
A great day out for Cheche with the kangaroos at Australia Zoo.
"Crickey, I think Veggie might come too..."
"Nahh, I reckon he won't show up. We caught him trying to mount Isa yesterday and if you are not careful, he will lead you astray Lianna."
Sorry, I just had to say it before we throw another shrimp on the barbie.
Australia Zoo, one hour north of Brisbane on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, is home of The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. Nestled on more than 110 acres and with more than 1200 amazing animals, it’s the most interactive conservation destination on the planet!
