NASA Goes Out On A Hunt Mission For Aliens
Footage of NASA's TESS - Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite is on its two year mission. A <a href="https://rumble.com/v4ceor-nasa-space-telescope-spitzer-beyond.html" target="_blank">NASA</a> mission, set to launch by June will continue to try to answer the question “Are we alone?”. TESS short for Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite is designed to look for planets beyond our solar system. Over two years, it will scan the entire sky using four cameras created by MIT and monitor 200,000 + stars for dips in brightness, which would indicate a planet passing in front of the star.TESS is expected to identify over 2,000 exoplanets hundreds of which could be Earth-sized. The data will then allow other missions to further explore which planets could support life.
The principal goal of the TESS mission is to detect small planets with bright host stars in the solar neighborhood, so that detailed characterizations of the planets and their atmospheres can be performed. ESS will monitor the brightness of more than 200,000 <a href="https://rumble.com/v4d1ip-bright-star-trails-across-the-night-sky.html" target="_blank">stars</a> during a two year mission, searching for temporary drops in brightness caused by planetary transits. Transits occur when a planet's orbit carries it directly in front of its parent star as viewed from Earth. TESS is expected to catalog more than 1,500 transiting exoplanet candidates, including a sample of ∼500 Earth-sized and ‘Super Earth’ planets, with radii less than twice that of the Earth. TESS will detect small rock-and-ice planets orbiting a diverse range of stellar types and covering a wide span of orbital periods, including rocky worlds in the habitable zones of their host stars.

NASA Discovered Seven Earth-Like Planets That Can Support Life
NASA has discovered seven Earth-like planets in habitable zone orbiting a nearby star. The system is in the Aquarius constellation, 40 light years away. Because the star is cool, even planets close to it could have liquid water. In addition, their densities suggest that they are rocky like the Earth.
NASA says they are the most promising <a href="https://rumble.com/v368ap-potentially-habitable-earth-like-planets-abundant.html" target="_blank">potentially habitable</a> Earth-sized worlds. The system is named TRAPPIST-1 after the telescope that found it. Astronomers working with NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope have analysed the atmospheres of two Earth-sized exoplanets beyond our Solar System, concluding that they might be ideal for fostering life.
Out of the seven new exoplanets that may be capable of supporting life as we know it, the two most <a href="https://rumble.com/v34a4h-seven-earth-like-planets-found-that-could-have-life.html" target="_blank">Earth-like alien worlds</a> are most promising.
The findings suggest that the two exoplanets, TRAPPIST-1b and TRAPPIST-1c, do not have hydrogen-based atmospheres, which the team says would make them inhospitable, as hydrogen-dense atmospheres usually lead to a devastating greenhouse effect.
In addition, the lack of a smothering hydrogen-helium envelope increases the chances for habitability on these planets, team member Nikole Lewis, from the Space Telescope Science Institute in the US, said in a report statement.
The study took took place when both of the planets were in front of the star at the same time, an event known as a ‘double-transit’ that only happens once every two years. With both of the planets visible, the team was able to use spectroscopy to find clues as to what their atmospheres are made of. While the exact chemical makeup is still unclear, the team says they were able to rule out that the atmospheres contain high levels of hydrogen and helium, which increases the chances that they might harbour life.

Recently, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration sent an expedition to the Gulf of Mexico to get a better look at what is living under the surface and the results are astonishing!
Lurking deep in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico live creatures that are rarely seen. With the help of the Okeanos Explorer and its remotely operated vehicles, the NOAA managed to explore diverse habitats in the deep water. The footage they captured shows some wondrous <a href="https://rumble.com/v3s7un-10-disturbing-deep-sea-creatures-twisted-tens-52.html" target="_blank">sea creatures</a>.
There is the long-nose chimaera fish, with its paddle-shaped snout and the mildly venomous spine on the dorsal fin, which it uses in defence. Then there is the cuck eel, which can grow up to 6 feet in length. One particularly alien-looking creature is the giant isopod, a bug-like dweller of the deep that can grow up to 20 inches in length, making it a true giant of the ocean.
Also, there is something called the dumbo octopus, for one very obvious reason. Named after the beloved baby elephant in the Disney movie of the same name, the dumbo octopus has prominent ear-like fins on both side of its head. The largest ever recorded was 5.9 feet long!
The one we love the most has the be the ‘Headless Chicken Monster’, which is actually a <a href="https://rumble.com/v442g5-greedy-sea-cucumber-gobbles-down-plankton-with-its-long-tentacles.html" target="_blank">sea cucumber</a> that looks like a mean little alien all dressed in red with some bright sparkles on it. It really looks like it could be searching for Stitch!

Here's How NASA Keeps Astronauts From Drifting Into Space
There is that one particularly iconic photo of a free floating astronaut in space. It is a real photo of a real Nasa astronaut.
Bruce McCandles II was floating free through space on February 7th, 1984, more than 300 feet away from Challenger space shuttle. He was the first person to <a href="https://rumble.com/v4cwux-live-spacewalk-coverage-of-iss-expedition-53-u.s.-spacewalk-46.html" target="_blank">spacewalk</a> untethered, wearing only a jetpack, or a Manned Maneuvering Unit. These units were used to retrieve faulty communication satellites.
Today, no astronaut goes on a spacewalk without a tether to his shuttle, for obvious safety reasons. The tether is a braided steel rope, which has a tensile strength of 1,100 pounds. They also wear a SAFER (Simplified Aid For EVA Rescue) backpack. The SAFER has a built-in nitrogen-jet small joystick, there in case the tether breaks for any reason, to propel them back to the International Space Station.
But, if that fails, saving an <a href="https://rumble.com/v3ghuz-nasa-astronaut-captures-aurora-space-spectacle.html" target="_blank">astronaut</a> from drifting further into space will require several tethers hooked together, a SAFER backpack and some good, old fashioned luck.
Such a thing has never happened and NASA is confident it never will. But there is always a darker scenario, like what if the spacewalker gets a boink of the head, falls unconscious and cannot operate his SAFER? "A rescue effort could and would be undertaken by the second spacewalker and/or other members of the space station crew," says Michael Curie, a spokesman for NASA's space operations. He wouldn't speculate on the exact steps a rescue team would take, because they would depend on the circumstances. But he adds, "we are really happy with the tether-and-Safer approach."
Still, we wouldn’t be going on any space strolls anytime soon.

Occator Crater on <a href="https://rumble.com/v4bgm3-nasa-unveiling-ceres.html" target="_blank">Ceres</a> is home to the brightest area on the entire dwarf planet. At 57 miles (92 kilometers) wide and 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) deep, Occator displays evidence of recent geologic activity. NASA's Dawn mission found that the bright spots may have been produced by upwelling of salt-rich liquids after the impact that formed the crater. This Rare Fish Has Fins That Work Like Hands
A research team from the University of Tasmania's Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies got wind from the public that a rare species of fish has been spotted in the reefs just a few miles off the coast of Tasmania. Naturally, their divers went in to investigate and they were not disappointed.
On a stretch of the reef about 400 square feet, they found eight <a href="https://rumble.com/v4fwe1-new-fish-species-found-in-deep-sea-east-of-australia.html" target="_blank">peculiar-looking fish</a> sporting gorgeous shades of red that seemed to be crawling along the ocean floor. Named for their pectoral fins that look eerily like human hands, the red handfish are deep ocean dwellers that travel along the floor with the help of their fins.
The red handfish can grow between two and five inches in length and come in two color variants, a bright red and just embellished with red markings. Their main course on the menu are small crustaceans and worms.
According to Rick Stuart-Smith, a research fellow at the University of Tasmania, “the species is easily one of the rarest fish in the world. The elusive fish were first spotted near Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula in the 1800s. Until now, a group of only 20 to 40 fish were known to be living on a stretch of reef near Hobart's Frederick Henry Bay.”
In a statement, Stuart-Smith said: “We’ve already learned a lot from finding this second population because their habitat isn’t identical to that of the first population. So we can take some heart from knowing red handfish are not as critically dependent on that particular set of local conditions.” (source: National Geographic)

Longest Underwater Cave Discovered In Mexico
