Meadow did such a great job on our first hike to a secret pond near my place with trout. I'm so proud of her, she's come a long way in the past 4 weeks. I'm so happy to see her enjoying life out here in God's Country, I very much look forward to exposing her to more incredible outdoor experiences. What a beautiful soul.... ~ Brian & Meadow

I think Meadow is more of an Akita/Shepherd Mix. Her paws are HUGE and she is displaying many characteristics indicative of Akita's. I plan to work with her everyday to make sure she's socialized property with dogs and people. So far, so good!

This is the area I go hiking all the time, it's incredible to have such wonderful terrain all to myself. In the 4 years I've had my property, I've never once seen another person down here. ~ Brian

Enjoyed a few days camping and fly fishing in a really nice area of Northern Arizona. Didn't catch anything as I was a bit rusty throwing flies. Fell in the river twice and swamped out my waders. Still had a great time, always nice and relaxing to spend time on the water. ~ Brian

It's been quiet around here but I'm making due by keeping myself busy. I'm doing much better after processing this loss for a few days. Sierra sure was special and I plan to honor her by continuing to spend as much time in nature as I possibly can. My beloved Sierra fought her cancer with courage and never gave up. After noticing the tumor in her rear had ruptured, I immediately made plans to have her transition. She peacefully fell asleep for the last time in my arms on Sunday, January 7th at 1pm. I'll forever be grateful of our time together, she was such a special companion!

Very pleased winter has arrived, more snow is on the way this evening with extremely frigid temps so I'm getting all my firewood in order. Hope you all have a great start to the weekend! ~ Brian

My thoughts on Colorado's decline from one of the best States in the West to a place people are now beginning to avoid. I love Colorado but it definitely is showing it's warts these days. Very glad I ended up in a different part of the country to set up my homestead.

I'm now entering Phase 2 of my off-grid projects. I've got my living space pretty much dialed in so I can turn my focus to food production and cultivating the pine trees on my property.
