He did not grow up in a Christian home but was exposed to various religious beliefs. At the age of 25 a Soulwinner showed Pastor Thompson the Gospel from the King James Bible and he called upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and was saved. Pastor Thompson attended various Baptist churches after getting saved, until 2016 when he was asked to be the leader of the Vancouver, WA satellite ministry of Verity Baptist Church. He served as the satellite leader faithfully and was ordained by Pastor Roger Jimenez as the Pastor of Sure Foundation Baptist Church in July of 2018. Pastor Thompson is married to his wife, Sherry, and they have four children; Remy, Nia, Jassamayn, and Josh, all of whom faithfully serve in the church. Our Story Prior to the launch of the satellite church that would become Sure Foundation Baptist Church, the Pacific Northwest had a strong group of Soulwinners that faithfully attended and served in other Baptist churches. Unofficially lead by Pastor Aaron Thompson at the time, this group would meet regularly for soulwinning marathons and fellowship. Having a like minded desire to see a strong Soulwinning, King James Preaching, Uncompromising, Sanctified, Fire Breathing church in the Pacific Northwest Pastor Roger Jimenez of Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento, CA launched a satellite ministry in Vancouver, WA in October of 2016. Pastor Roger Jimenez enlisted Pastor Aaron Thompson to lead the local congregation as the Satellite Leader while being trained to eventually be ordained as the Pastor. In July of 2018 Pastor Thompson was ordained in Vancouver, WA and the satellite Church became independent and was established as Sure Foundation Baptist Church. What to Expect At Sure Foundation Baptist Church we believe in going back to the old paths. We sing classic doctrinally sound hymns, we believe the King James Bible is the Word of God, and we aren’t afraid to preach hard on sin. All of our services are family-integrated, meaning children and infants are always welcome in the service. We have Mother-baby rooms, and father-baby rooms available should you need a more private area for yourself and the children. Each room has a monitor and sound so you are still able to enjoy the service. Our church takes joy in fellowship with fellow believers, whether that be before and after services or enjoying a meal together, you will find the congregation and leadership to be warm and welcoming. In addition to our scheduled services we hold additional activities regularly including homeschooling field trips, men’s fellowship, women’s fellowship, and men’s preaching nights. He grew up attending a Presbyterian church and while having a basic belief that God and Jesus Christ were real, he never really claimed the Presbyterian faith as his own. At the age of 20, while away at college, he was interested in finding out the truth about God so he started searching. The search ended in April of 1997 when he put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation. After his conversion, Pastor Berzins grew a little and found that the independent, fundamental Baptist churches were the most Biblically accurate. However, it wasn’t until 9 years after his salvation that he got “plugged in” to a good church and was baptized. It was at Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, AZ that Pastor Berzins received his teaching and training to ultimately be ordained and sent out to pastor Word of Truth Baptist Church in November 2013. After serving for over 4 years in Prescott Valley and knocking virtually every door in the city, Pastor Berzins saw a great need for a new church plant in the Atlanta area. Knowing that Word of Truth Baptist Church would be able to continue serving Prescott Valley under the leadership of Faithful Word Baptist Church, Pastor Berzins stepped out in faith and moved his family across the country to plant Strong Hold Baptist Church in Norcross, GA. The first service was held on June 24, 2018 with 53 people who love the Lord in attendance and has been going strong ever since. Pastor Berzins married the love of his life in September of 2008. We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works. This means that salvation cannot be earned by any work (church attendance, baptism, repenting of your sins, etc.). Salvation is putting your faith in Jesus Christ and trusting that his death, burial, and resurrection from the grave is all that is needed to pay for your sins. You receive salvation by simply calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ to save you. [Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13] II. We believe in the Eternal Security of the believer (this means once you are saved, you are always saved). We believe that the Holy Spirit is God and reject the teaching that the Holy Spirit is simply a force, power or energy. [John 15:26, Act 5:3-4, Romans 8:11, 1st Corinthians 15:44, Ephesians 4:30] VIII. We believe in the Trinity, which is the belief that there is one God that exists in three persons. The three persons or members of the Godhead are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The three members of the Godhead are distinct and separate persons, each possessing their own body, intellect and will. The three are all equally God and eternal, meaning that they have eternally existed as three persons. The three members of the Godhead voluntarily submit themselves under a chain of command. We acknowledge that each member of the Godhead is not partially God or a part of God but believe that each member is all God and all of God. We reject partialism (the belief that each member of the Godhead is a part of God that comes together to make up one God). We reject polytheism (the belief that each member of the Godhead is a separate god). We reject oneness (the belief that each member of the Godhead is the same person playing different roles). [Genesis 1:26-27, John 1:1-3, Colossians 2:9, 1 John 5:7] IX. We believe in the autonomy of the local church. This means that we are independent of all denominations, conventions, and fellowships. We have Jesus Christ and the Bible as the head of our church and the pastor as the human leader of our church must submit himself to the Word of God. We believe that Christ established “local” New Testament churches. We believe that a church is an assembly or congregation of local believers banding together under the leadership of a pastor for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission. We believe that the tribulation will be a period of trouble and persecution from the world for believers and that tribulation is different and separate from the wrath of God that will be poured out in this world. He did not grow up in a Christian home but was exposed to various religious beliefs. We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works. This means that salvation cannot be earned by any work (church attendance, baptism, repenting of your sins, etc.). Salvation is putting your faith in Jesus Christ and trusting that his death, burial, and resurrection from the grave is all that is needed to pay for your sins. You receive salvation by simply calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ to save you. [Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13] II. We believe in the Eternal Security of the believer (this means once you are saved, you are always saved). We believe that the Holy Spirit is God and reject the teaching that the Holy Spirit is simply a force, power or energy. The three persons or members of the Godhead are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The three members of the Godhead are distinct and separate persons, each possessing their own body, intellect and will. The three are all equally God and eternal, meaning that they have eternally existed as three persons. The three members of the Godhead voluntarily submit themselves under a chain of command. We acknowledge that each member of the Godhead is not partially God or a part of God but believe that each member is all God and all of God. We reject partialism (the belief that each member of the Godhead is a part of God that comes together to make up one God). We reject polytheism (the belief that each member of the Godhead is a separate god). We reject oneness (the belief that each member of the Godhead is the same person playing different roles). [Genesis 1:26-27, John 1:1-3, Colossians 2:9, 1 John 5:7] IX. We believe in the autonomy of the local church. This means that we are independent of all denominations, conventions, and fellowships. We have Jesus Christ and the Bible as the head of our church and the pastor as the human leader of our church must submit himself to the Word of God. We reject any leader that usurps the authority of Christ as the head of any church like a Pope, Prophet, President, a Board of Elders or Board of Directors. [Acts 14:23, Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 5:1-3] X. We believe that Christ established “local” New Testament churches. We believe that a church is an assembly or congregation of local believers banding together under the leadership of a pastor for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission. We reject the teaching of all believers making up a “universal church”. [Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 4:16, Titus 1:5] XI. We believe that church membership is a privilege and not a right and church members are subject to be removed from membership (Church Discipline) and can be denied the right to attend the church services and activities, if they violate the qualifications of church membership as set forth in the Holy Scriptures (and the by-laws of Verity Baptist Church). [Matthew 18:15-18, 1 Corinthians 5:9-13] XII. We believe in a literal, physical hell. We believe that the unsaved will spend eternity tormented in hell and the Lake of Fire in the presence of God. We reject the teaching that Hell is simply separation from God. We reject the doctrine of Annihilation which teaches that hell is a temporary place where people are annihilated and cease to exist. We believe that the tribulation will be a period of trouble and persecution from the world for believers and that tribulation is different and separate from the wrath of God that will be poured out in this world. He did not grow up in a Christian home but was exposed to various religious beliefs. At the age of 25 a Soulwinner showed Pastor Thompson the Gospel from the King James Bible and he called upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and was saved. Pastor Thompson attended various Baptist churches after getting saved, until 2016 when he was asked to be the leader of the Vancouver, WA satellite ministry of Verity Baptist Church. He served as the satellite leader faithfully and was ordained by Pastor Roger Jimenez as the Pastor of Sure Foundation Baptist Church in July of 2018. Pastor Thompson is married to his wife, Sherry, and they have four children; Remy, Nia, Jassamayn, and Josh, all of whom faithfully serve in the church. Our Story Prior to the launch of the satellite church that would become Sure Foundation Baptist Church, the Pacific Northwest had a strong group of Soulwinners that faithfully attended and served in other Baptist churches. Unofficially lead by Pastor Aaron Thompson at the time, this group would meet regularly for soulwinning marathons and fellowship. Having a like minded desire to see a strong Soulwinning, King James Preaching, Uncompromising, Sanctified, Fire Breathing church in the Pacific Northwest Pastor Roger Jimenez of Verity Baptist Church in Sacramento, CA launched a satellite ministry in Vancouver, WA in October of 2016. Pastor Roger Jimenez enlisted Pastor Aaron Thompson to lead the local congregation as the Satellite Leader while being trained to eventually be ordained as the Pastor. In July of 2018 Pastor Thompson was ordained in Vancouver, WA and the satellite Church became independent and was established as Sure Foundation Baptist Church. We sing classic doctrinally sound hymns, we believe the King James Bible is the Word of God, and we aren’t afraid to preach hard on sin. We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith, and not of works. This means that salvation cannot be earned by any work (church attendance, baptism, repenting of your sins, etc.). Salvation is putting your faith in Jesus Christ and trusting that his death, burial, and resurrection from the grave is all that is needed to pay for your sins. You receive salvation by simply calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ to save you. [Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10, Romans 10:13] II. The search ended in April of 1997 when he put his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation. However, it wasn’t until 9 years after his salvation that he got “plugged in” to a good church and was baptized. This means salvation is a free gift offered by God, and cannot be earned by any work (church attendance, baptism, repenting of your sins, etc.). Salvation is putting 100% of your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone, and what He did for you, rather than in your own good works or actions. Jesus Christ payed the full penalty of our sin with His death on the cross, meaning there is no payment left to be made. We believe in the eternal security of the believer (once saved always saved).
