Heatwave Alarm Season is Here - The Climate Realism Show #114
Same Old Climate Claims, Different Year
Yes, it’s that time again kids, panic the American people over heat waves by blaming them on climate change.
This past week several news outlets talked about the “Western Heat Wave” and tried to link it to “climate change.” Climate Central was the source of most of these stories with a press release that said:
“Between June 5-7, much of the Western United States, Mexico, and Eastern Canada are poised to experience a period of unusually hot conditions made much more likely because of human-caused climate change. During this period, over 229 million people across North America will experience extreme heat made at least three times more likely because of human-caused climate change.”
We see this every year, and we’ll see it again this year as the feckless media regurgitates the heatwave hype. We will tackle this subject, as well as go over the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Tune in LIVE for the stream at 1 p.m. ET (noon CT) to watch the show and leave your own questions in the chat with host Anthony Watts, along with panelists H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken.

Sea Levels Rising? Yes - A Measly 1.2 Inches Every Decade
Heartland Institute Research Fellow Linnea Lueken looks at sea level rise, and whether or not it poses an existential threat to coastal communities. That data: NASA satellite readings that date back to 1993 show that sea level rising at a pace of just 1.2 inches every decade, and older records from tide gauges show a rate of about 1 foot per century. Hardly an existential threat, let alone one to the world's coastal cities.

Attacks on Actual Temperature Data – The Climate Realism Show #113
The Heartland Institute has issued a report exposing the US government’s official land-based temperature stations as hopelessly corrupt and compromised. The study, conducted by Heartland Senior Fellow Anthony Watts – an update on a previous examination of temperature stations in 2009 – was the subject of a hit-piece by Scott Waldman of E&E News and POLITICO titled “Climate denial group wants to subvert NOAA data with its own: The Heartland Institute seeks to build da nationwide network of temperature-monitoring stations.”
Well, yes we do. And we’re doing it because too many of NOAA’s historic stations are either captured by sprawl and the urban heat-island effect, in such terrible shape that they should not be relied upon for accurate data, or not even operable at all or broken – and in those cases, NOAA just makes a guess as to the temperature. That is problematic, to say the least, since temperature readings from these crappy stations is used to panic the American people, continually, by telling them that last week or this year was “the hottest ever” and that warming is happening dangerously fast.
The mystery is why the corrupt media is attacking the setting up of up state-of-the-art temperature stations with data that can be checked in real time. We will tackle this subject, as well as go over the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Tune in LIVE for the stream at 1 p.m. ET (noon CT) to watch the show and leave your own questions in the chat with host Jim Lakely, panelists H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken, and our special guest Tony Heller.

LIARS! Climate Change is NOT Killing More People Now
Heartland Institute Research Fellow Linnea Lueken explores the claim that, because climate change allegedly is causing more extreme weather, more people are being killed by extreme weather than in the past. This is false on two counts.
Extreme weather events are often attributed to climate change, but weather and climate are not the same thing. Real-world data show no significant increase in extreme weather over the past 100 years.

Hurricane Season Begins: Bigger and Badder? - The Climate Realism Show #112
Hurricane Season 2024 officially kicks off Saturday, June 1 and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts a more-active-than-normal season in the Atlantic. The agency is “85% certain” that we’ll have 17-25 named storms, 8-13 hurricanes, and 4-7 major hurricanes this year.
Episode #112 of The Climate Realism Show will feature two of America’s best hurricane experts — meteorologists Joe Bastardi and Stanley Goldenberg — to talk about these predictions, and what it will mean for the East and Gulf coasts of the United States.
Tune for our live-stream of the show at 1 p.m. ET (noon CT) to listen to these experts, and leave your own questions for them in the chat. The Climate Realism Show Host Anthony Watts and regular panelists H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken will also cover, as usual, the Crazy Climate News of the week.

Biden Climate Rules Onslaught: Coming to a Household Near You - The Climate Realism Show #111
On episode 111 of The Climate Realism Show, we are going to review many of the eco policies that amount to Biden's war on homeowners and the citizenry for the sake of "saving the planet" from climate change.
We'll be discussing the Biden power plant rule, auto emissions rule, new ESA restrictions in Texas for a lizard, appliance rules, and more. The rules restricting gas stove and light bulbs and others supposedly to prevent so-called climate catastrophes affect our everyday choices and lives.
Joining us will be Marlo Lewis, Jr. who is a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Lewis writes on global warming, energy policy, and public policy issues and will comment of the onslaught by Biden which appears geared to meet the 180 day deadline for such things before the November election.
Join host Anthony Watts, the Heartland Institute’s H. Sterling Burnett, and Marlo Lewis for the big list of FAIL. And, as always, we have the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Rethinking the Climate Change Consensus
Is there a scientific consensus that says we should be worried about a looming climate catastrophe? No. A majority of scientists may believe Earth’s climate is changing, but most are not all that alarmed.

At last, a real debate - THE DUEL OF THE THEORIES ON GLOBAL WARMING
On episode 108 of The Climate Realism Show, special guest James Taylor, president of The Heartland Institute and the founding director of Heartland’s Arthur B. Robinson Center for Climate and Environmental Policy, presents data refuting multiple climate change myths. James recently took part in a debate called "THE DUEL OF THE THEORIES ON GLOBAL WARMING" with Professor Harold R. Wanless, professor in the Department of Geography and Sustainable Development at the University of Miami.
Taylor covers topics such as global temperatures, sea level rise, crop production, hurricanes, and tornadoes, citing data from peer-reviewed sources in the process.
Join host Anthony Watts, and The Heartland Institute’s H. Sterling Burnett as we do some play-by-play analysis. Plus, as always, the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Earth Day and 54 Years of Predictive Failures - The Climate Realism Show #107
On episode 107 of The Climate Realism Show, we look Earth Day 2024 and how it has been holding up as the poster holiday for the environmental left.
Since it was first started in 1970, dozens of predictions have been announced each Earth Day. For example, April 1970, Population Bomb author Paul Erlich was quoted as saying “Population will inevitably and completely outstrip whatever small increases in food supplies we make. The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next ten years.”
Or, this gem. On June 30, 1989, the Associated Press said in an ominous article, “Rising Seas Could Obliterate Nations,” containing a jaw-dropping opener: “A senior UN environmental official (Noel Brown) says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000.”
Special guest Marc Morano of ClimateDepot.com has been following these predictions for years, and will join us to provide his always interesting color commentary.
Join host Anthony Watts, Marc Marono, and The Heartland Institute’s usual climate crew of H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken, to talk about these failured predictions and also the Crazy Climate News of the Week. U.S. Surface Temperature Measurements Redux: Still Not Fit for Purpose
On episode 107 of The Climate Realism Show, we look yet again at the sad state of the U.S. Surface Temperature network, as host Anthony Watts has done yet another trip across the heartland of United States to get a fresh look at how these stations are setup.
In 2009, and then again, as a follow-up, in 2022, detailed inspections with station location data and photographic evidence the problematic stations were done. Stations providing official climate data that were sited in locations where surrounding surfaces, structures, and equipment radiated stored heat or emitted heat directly biasing or driving the recorded temperatures higher than were recorded at stations in the same region, uncompromised by the well-known UHI (that is widely ignored by alarmists and official government agencies).
Of the sampling of hundreds of stations across the country Watts and his volunteer team documented in 2009, 89% were out of compliance for proper measurement practices. In 2022, with the second inspection, that number rose to 96%. The trip last week, while taking a smaller sample than the two previous efforts, approached 100% as out of compliance.
Join host Anthony Watts, and The Heartland Institute’s usual climate crew of H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken, to talk about the new findings and also the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Climate and Energy: The Case for Realism – The Climate Realism Show #105
On episode 105 of The Climate Realism Show, we talk to E. Calvin Beisner, co-editor (along with David Legates) of the new book “Climate and Energy: The Case For Realism.” The book combines outstanding climate science, physics, economics, environmental science, political science, ethics, and theology to present a well-reasoned understanding of human-induced climate change and how to respond to it. The authors of the chapters in this book, all experts in their respective fields, conclude for a wide range of issues related to climate and energy, that “attempted cures for climate change are generally worse than the disease—especially for the poor.”
Beisner will join host Jim Lakely, and The Heartland Institute’s usual climate crew of H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken, to talk about this book and also the Crazy Climate News of the Week. Save the Whales, Kill the Turbines – The Climate Realism Show #104
On episode 104 of The Climate Realism Show, we explain that to save the whales we need to kill these growing large-scale offshore wind projects. These so-called “wind farms” are much larger and do much more environmental damage than most people realize. Covering an area the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined, one project off the Mid-Atlantic poses an existential risk to the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. That is just one of many ocean mammals harassed and killed by these projects that will, at best, provide unreliable and expensive energy. Remember when “save the whales” was the cry of the environmentalists? Now they are fine with a spike in dead whales washing up on our Atlantic beaches as long as the “green energy” agenda continues apace.
The Heartland Institute is part of a lawsuit to stop to a major wind project in the Atlantic and save the right whale. We will talk about that effort with Craig Rucker and Terry Johnson of CFACT, who are also part of the suit. Join them and host Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken to talk about that, plus the Crazy Climate News of the Week.

Climate: The Movie - The Climate Realism Show #103
Climate Change Roundtable is now The Climate Realism Show. The same great climate news and analysis from The Heartland Institute's world-class climate and energy experts, but a snazzy new name that gets right to the heart of what it is about.
On episode 103 of The Climate Realism Show, we welcome Tom Nelson, producer of the new film "Climate: The Movie." The film exposes the climate alarm as an invented scare without any basis in science. It emphatically counters the claim that current temperatures and levels of atmospheric CO2 are unusually and worryingly high. In fact, we are currently in an ice age and there is no evidence that changing levels of CO2 (it has changed many times) has ever ‘driven’ climate change in the past.
The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts is host, H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken will break down the movie and it's impact with Nelson.

The CO2 Dilemma - Climate Change Roundtable #99
Climate change issues all center around increasing carbon dioxide (CO2) in Earth's atmosphere, however what is seldom mentioned by climate alarmists is the fact that CO2 can be both a benefit as well as a detriment. From the climate alarmism point of view CO2 is nothing but bad. But that's really not true.
On episode 99 of Climate Change Roundtable, The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, and Linnea Lueken Examine this issue as well as look at two new reports that have just been released:
1. A Climate Science Team Report on the Scientific Validity of EPA’S 2009 GHG Endangerment Finding - Climate- Science.press
2. Wyoming and Climate Change: CO2 Should Be Celebrated, Not Captured - CO2 Coalition

Mann vs. Steyn: A Disgrace to the Profession – Climate Change Roundtable #97
The Climate Trial of the Century is over, and the result is an absolutely travesty of justice. A D.C. jury ruled yesterday that Mark Steyn must pay $1 in compensatory damages and an absurd $1 million in punitive damages to climate media star Michael Mann for his claimed defamation. His co-defendant, Rand Simberg, was socked with paying $1 in compensatory damages, but only $1,000 in punitive damages.
We followed the trial every day for nearly four weeks, and we can tell you that it was a disgrace to the professions in our legal system, the “profession” of juries to administer justice, and the professions in alarmist climate science. In short, the whole thing was a disgrace.
On episode 97 of Climate Change Roundtable, The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely break down what happened in the trial, how this criminally unjust jury decision came to be, and what this means for the First Amendment rights of anyone who questions alarmist dogma in public.

Mann vs. Steyn: Climate Trial of the Century Week 3 - Guest: Ann McElhinney
In the third week of the defamation trial in which climate “hockey stick” inventor Michael Mann is suing Mark Steyn and Rand Simberg, Mann rested his case. And now the defense has begun to make its devastating case against the nasty serial litigator in the Climate Trial of the Century. The hockey stick itself is being broken into pieces in public.
On episode 96 of Climate Change Roundtable, special guest Ann McElhinney joins The Heartland Institute’s Anthony Watts, H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Jim Lakely to break down the latest bombshell moments of the trial. We are sure to mention the devastating testimony on Thursday of renowned statistician Abraham Wyner who exposed Mann’s hockey stick to be the fraud Steyn and Simberg (and many others) say it is.
Join us LIVE at 1 p.m. ET (12 p.m. CT) to get caught up on the trial and join the chat to ask questions of your own.
Our panel delves into the claim by the COP28 President, who said there is ‘no science’ behind demands for the phase-out of fossil fuels and that doing so would take the world “back into caves.”
The episode also aims to debunk common climate change myths presented at COP28, focusing on a comprehensive understanding of the conference's implications and strategies. We will compare the fantasy of claims and goals with the reality of the hard data.
Plus, we’ll have Crazy Climate News of the week.
Join our live broadcast today at Noon Central Time (12PM ET). Whether you're a climate enthusiast, a policy expert, or just someone curious about the different facets of climate change discourse, this episode promises to provide another fresh and insightful take on the discussions from COP28.
