Welcome to The Best of The Bad Guys! Where we rank the best of cinema’s worst villains. Today, we’re talking about The Strangers. A trio of mysterious and sadistic murderers who like to show up in remote locations, toy with, scare and eventually murder human beings for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I remember seeing the Chuck Norris joke book in a Barnes and Noble store and leafing through it only to find a bunch of absolutely absurd and comically over the top things that Chuck Norris could and would do to you or what he kept behind his beard. Norris ended up with a couple of horror movies in his credits. Hellbound, which I’m still undecided on if I want to cover or not, and today’s movie, Silent Rage was a fun flick to revisit.

Today on That Bigfoot Show -- yea, THAT one -- host Taylor James Johnson talks about the most important people in the world... celebrities! Or, more accurately, celebrities who believe in Bigfoot! It's an epic topic that is so big, so exciting, we're making it a two parter so Taylor can fit it all in!

When The Crow emerged thirty years ago, it changed how audiences could perceive graphic novel adaptations. It was dark, gritty, violent, and well ahead of its time. On top of that, it had one of the best soundtracks of the decade. However, it also spawned some pretty bad sequels. After the release of the last one two decades ago, it seemed just as long for a remake of the original to come to fruition, with multiple actors and directors coming and going. Finally, after all that time, we got to see exactly what The Crow would look like in 2024. The reactions have been, well, let’s just say, a little less than enthused. But what if I told you there was one you probably forgot about? One that has the most bonkers casting out of the entire franchise. One that misses the mark by such a wide margin that it will make the new SoundCloud Crow look revolutionary.

When you go back and take a look at the movies that were released in 2006, you might think we were all high. Eli Roth’s Hostel was tearing off tourists' clothes while slashing their Achilles’, The Hills Have Eyes remake was gnarly in every way and does anybody remember that really cool but super weird Paul Walker flick Running Scared? We were on some dark stuff back in the mid-2000s. All of these were released before August of 2006 when the mother of all over-the-top egregious and slightly cheesy but kind of awesome movies was released unto the earth. Well, at least in name. A name that conjures all the curiosity in the world while simultaneously explaining itself perfectly. Today we’re talking about just What happened to Snakes on a Plane?

My best friend and I had a ritual of cozying up in bed with Chicken Biscuits and squeeze cheese, eagerly awaiting each episode. Our fascination extended beyond Frakes himself; we were captivated by narrator Don LaFontaine and the meticulous research of author Robert Tralins. Together, they formed our A-Team. Created by Lynn Lehman, whose sole other credit was a role in 1976's Guardian of the Wilderness, Beyond Belief was like a mysterious puzzle for its audience. Each episode presented a collection of short stories, spanning from paranormal encounters to uncanny coincidences.

Being a slasher fan is pretty simple: put a killer in a different setting where they can murder teens and let them loose. They can practically be played Mad Libs style. Today's subject is set in a grocery store and takes full advantage of all the implementations you would think. Add in some Bruce Campbell and the Raimi brothers for kicks, and you've got one of the more entertaining slashers of the 80s. So join us today as we cover 1989's Intruder.

The Phantom of the Opera is sometimes considered one of the Universal Monsters. I get it. From the 1925 version that gave us one of the most infamous unmasking sequences ever courtesy of the great Lon Chaney Sr., through the Hammer iteration with Herbert Lom, all the way up to the 2004 film that gave a lot of us our intro to Gerard Butler. 1989 was the beginning of its U.S. tour and we got not one but TWO Phantom movies that year. Phantom of the Mall: Erics Revenge is cheesy and may just be more well known due to our friend Joe Bob featuring it on the Last Drive In recently. Here in the Joblo Horror kitchen today we are cooking something up for you. Take one part Freddy Kruger, a dash of Cannon Films, and a heaping helping of nonsensical gory fun and you get a recipe for one of the Best Horror Movies You Never Saw.

The Ruins was one of those hot properties by an author whose previous work was an instant success with critics, fans, and studio executives who put it to celluloid. The book came out, and just two years later, we were given a movie adaptation that had a lot of the original authors’ work in it, mostly because he wrote the screenplay, too. While they came out two years apart and were both written by the same person, how close are these two versions to each other? The first twenty minutes of the 1979 horror film When a Stranger Calls really creeped out movie-goers. It stuck in their heads, earning the movie cult classic status. The rest of the running time, viewers don’t often remember so clearly. So when Screen Gems gave the greenlight to a remake, they decided to expand those first twenty minutes to feature length. Stretching out the thrills and suspense for as long as possible. It was a clever idea that was brought to the screen in an entertaining way. And if you haven’t seen the When a Stranger Calls remake, this is the best horror movie you never saw.

I’ve always really enjoyed The Omen as a franchise. Even as a kid, I found something about the original trilogy centring around Damien Thorn especially gripping. However, I never had much use for the cheap TV movie sequel (Omen IV: The Awakening) or the scene-for-scene remake, which, despite a game cast, didn’t come close to recapturing the grisly spirit of Richard Donner’s original. As such, I figured The First Omen would be just another would-be franchise starter, but I have to give 20th Century Studios and Disney credit - they made one hell of a cool horror flick (pun intended). In some ways, it’s a bit like Wonka (bear with me) in that it’s a prequel that does its own thing without shitting all over the original, with the Donner film and the original movies that follow all existing in the same universe this does.

How cool would it be to wake up in an alternate universe where bizarre versions of your favorite movies existed and you could experience them all over again for the first time? That’s exactly what I can offer to The Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon fans who have never experienced Manhunter. The forgotten and abandoned stepchild of the Hannibal Lecter film series. How in the hell does a movie that has the twisted murder weirdness and fascinating serial killer storytelling of a Silence of the Lambs or Mindhunter paired with the coolness of a movie like Heat and flair of a Nicolas Winding Refn film go this unnoticed?
