6: Living in a World of Betrayal | Dr. David Jeremiah
At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other. Matthew 24:10
Jesus warned that such severe persecution may lead to the defection of some members. The fear and persecution will be so intense that people will betray and hate each other in order to keep themselves safe. It will not be popular or respectable to be a Christian. It will be dangerous. -- Bruce B. Barton

3: Living in a War-Torn World | Dr. David Jeremiah
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. for nations will rise against nations, and kingdoms against kingdoms. Matthew 24:6-7
Jesus prepared His followers for a difficult passage of time before His return. As political situations worsen, as wars ravage the world, Jesus’ disciples and all His followers should not be terrified that somehow God has lost control or that His promises will not come true.
Just as false messiahs and religious frauds come and go, so do political and natural crises. Even when the world seems to be in chaos, God is in control. Such things must happen as part of God’s divine plan. -- Bruce B. Barton

2: Living in a World of Deception | Dr. David Jeremiah
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.... Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. Matthew 24:4-5, 11
The disciples asked Jesus for the sign of His coming and of the end of the age. Jesus’ first response was “Watch out that no one deceives you.”
The fact is that whenever we look for signs, we become very susceptible to deception. Many “false prophets” have counterfeit signs of spiritual power and authority. The only sure way to keep from being deceived is to focus on Christ and His Word. Don’t look for special signs, and don’t spend time looking at other people. Look at Christ. -- Bruce B. Barton
