Climate Bullying: Scientists Behaving Badly
Welcome to episode #91 of "Climate Change Roundtable," where we challenge the status quo of climate science narratives. Hosted by Anthony Watts, this episode features expert panelist H. Sterling Burnett and guest Steve Milloy of junkscience.com.
This week, we had yet another shocking example of “scientists behaving badly” in the scientific peer review process. Today’s episode aims to shed light on how these incidents reflect broader problems in the field, starting with the postponement of the trial of the baddest actor of them all, Michael Mann, a central figure in climate science controversies.
It seems climate science hasn’t learned anything since ClimateGate in 2009.
Plus, we’ll have Crazy Climate News of the week.

Sultan Al Jaber vs Mary Robinson: A Climate Throw Down
Just as COP28, the UN's 2023 climate conference, was getting started, the conference host, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, got into a bit of an argument with former UN Climate Envoy Mary Robinson. Mrs. Robinson — who is about as elite as it gets in global climate circles —was obviously not used to being challenged on her assumptions that fossil fuel use must end if the world is to meet its climate goals.
In the exchange, an interview facilitated by an organization "She Changes Climate," Al Jaber said he is not interested in any climate "alarmism," but follows the science. It's saved here for posterity, since Al Jaber has since "walked back" his statements, even though everything he said about climate and fossil fuels and who needs to sacrifice to save the planet is spot on.

Hottest Summer Ever? NOT!
On Climate Change Roundtable, we take a stand against selective information portrayal, examining the contexts often omitted in mainstream climate discussions. This week, we’re covering the go-to media narrative parroted after every summer as well as discussing a surprising tweet from Michael Mann, creator of the discredited hockey stick chart.
Segment 1: The Hottest Summer: But at What Scale?
The media has been quick to dub this the 'hottest summer on record', but what does that truly mean in the vast timeline of Earth's climatic history? The referenced record composes the last 150 years, a misleading statement outright. And during this time, Earth is recovering from the Little Ice Age, further skewing the data. When you look at the Earth’s entire history, temperatures are well within norms. We discuss issues with the temperature record, misleading language, and highlight objective data.
Segment 2: Media Alarmism: An Unexpected Ally in Michael Mann
When figures like Michael Mann, known for the aforementioned hockey stick chart, begin to voice concerns about the media's alarmist take on climate change, it's an indicator that the discourse might be veering off course. We'll discuss his recent tweet that underscores the exaggerated stance of corporate media on climate-related issues.
So check out episode 84 of "Climate Change Roundtable," with host Anthony Watts, panelists H. Sterling Burnett and Jim Lakely, and special guest Marc Morano, founder of ClimateDepot.com. Tune in LIVE at Noon CT/1 PM ET this Friday for an insightful discussion.
And be sure to leave your questions during the show for the weekly question and answer segment. There’s always more questions than time, so leave us a Super Like and we guarantee yours is addressed.

Biden, Montana, Maui - 'Climate Emergency' Madness Continues with Special Guest: Dr. Judith Curry
It has been a crazy week in the climo-sphere. Fires in Maui were blamed on “climate change” by the media, only to find that that wasn’t the case at all, even causing some media to back off!
President Joe Biden, after having a disastrous week of optics sitting on the beach while Maui burned, decided he’ll fly there Monday. With the perfect setting for “disaster porn” from the burned city of Lahaina, he may finally declare an “official” global climate emergency next week.
The White House loves optics, leaving this well within the realm of possibility.
A bunch of kids in Montana (well, actually their handlers) filed a climate lawsuit against the state citing the Montana constitution provision for a clean environment. They just won, arguing with exaggerations and cherry-picked data. Special guest, Climatologist Dr. Judith Curry will discuss her role in defending that lawsuit and her observations.
Tune in LIVE for Climate Change Roundtable at noon CT on Friday, August 18 to find out. And be sure to leave your questions for host Anthony Watts, weekly panelists H. Sterling Burnett and Linnea Lueken, and special guest Dr. Judith Curry.

Climate Emergency Declaration? Here Come Climate Lockdowns - Climate Change Roundtable #75
President Joe Biden and the UN are likely to declare an “official” global climate emergency next week. All the signs are there. The chatter, and the behind the scenes maneuvering. The UN’s website now has a climate emergency page. Biden the other day stopped short, but when the new temperature numbers are issued on August 15by NOAA, that may be all the justification Biden needs. The “melting in Antarctica and the supposed subsequent sea level rise” will be another, and Lahaina in Maui burning to the ground will be cited as yet another.
If Biden declares a climate emergency, will climate lockdowns follow? History suggests “yes.” In a plausible scenario, we could see gas rationing, restrictions on electricity use, and limits on air travel. Enjoy steaks? Well, you can forget those.
But what is the truth about Antarctica ice and Maui fires? Tune in LIVE at noon CT on Friday, August 11 to find out. Host Anthony Watts and Heartland’s H. Sterling Burnett, Linnea Lueken, and Donald Kendal will discuss it all, and more.

CLINTEL Exposes The Frozen Climate Views of the IPCC
The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released it's sixth assessment report back in 2021. It still serves as the basis as many politicians use climate change as the justification to try and pass increasingly restrictive laws on society. However, Andy May of the Climate Intelligence Foundation (CLINTEL) found many problems with the IPCC's sixth assessment report. It made numerous false assumptions and flawed assessments, while ignoring facts and research that is should have considered in its report. May also found that The IPCC erred in its comparisons of present data with proxy data for past climate conditions, make flawed assumptions about climate sensitivity and emissions, and unjustifiably assumed nature plays not significant role in climate change.
In addition, the IPCC ignored or downplayed the tremendous benefits to human life of present climate change. UN Plans 'Climate Power Grab' Over U.S.
This week we learned from Heartland's Justin Haskins that The U.N. Is Planning To Seize Global ‘Emergency’ Powers With Biden’s Support.
In the article, Haskins makes it clear that a so-called "climate emergency" or "climate crisis" will be one of the possible triggers for this, and with the upcoming El Niño likely to spike global temperatures, irrational panic will likely enable a power grab by the UN.
Just this week, when there was supposedly the "hottest day ever" on the planet (it wasn't, even NOAA couldn't confirm it), U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the latest numbers help prove “that climate change is out of control.”
Tune in to the show for a review of this madness. We'll also take a look at some of the silliest climate news of the week, including the so-called "hottest day ever" that coulda, sorta, mighta happened this week!
