The New York Police Department reported taking 34 people into custody following a pro-Palestinian protest at the Brooklyn Museum on Friday. The protest, organized by Within Our Lifetime, aimed to “de-occupy” the museum until it disclosed and divested from investments linked to Israel’s military actions in Gaza. Starting at the Barclays Center, the protest reached the museum by 4:30 p.m., where participants occupied the public plaza and entered the building. Chad Daybell was sentenced to death on Saturday, following a jury’s recommendation after convicting him of first-degree murder and conspiracy in the deaths of his first wife, Tammy Daybell, and two of his second wife’s children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow. The case, driven by motives of power, sex, money, and apocalyptic spiritual beliefs, captured national attention. Judge Steven Boyce imposed the death sentence and an additional 15-year prison term for insurance fraud. Daybell remained expressionless during sentencing. The jury found that the aggravating circumstances justified the death penalty.
