Church services in North Braddock were interrupted when a man jumped in front of the pastor with a gun in an apparent attempt to shoot him. This happened at Jesus' Dwelling Place Church on Lobringer Avenue. The story of Christians being executed by a firing squad gained global attention at the time; becoming changed men who had accepted Jesus as their savior was not enough to secure a stay of execution.
