Oleksandra Ustinova, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament and the head of the Commission on Arms Control, says that support for F16 fighters is crucial for the next phase of the war. "If we would get the fighter jets and enough munition, the war could be over in the summer," she told DW's Ines Pohl in Washington. She doesn't agree with the US government’s hesitation to allow other countries to sell jets to Ukraine out of fear of escalation. "They also said that about sending tanks, then they sent tanks, and nothing happened," said Ustinova. The jets would also be crucial to shoot down drones and defend Ukraine’s airspace. She and her delegation are spending a week meeting with U.S. lawmakers from both parties to convince them to send these jets. Ustinovatold DW that the recent leaks at the Pentagon have not hurt Ukraine given that crucial information, such as details about the spring offensive, were not leaked. "Only very few people know about these details," she said. The bord member of the Anti-Corruption Center said that the accusation from US journalist Seymour Hersh that Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is making deals with Russia is fake news. "But unfortunately, many people believe that, but this is just wrong. Why should Zelenskyy do that? Fake news," said Ustinova. A watershed moment for the political and criminal system in the United States: For the first time in history a former US President is facing criminal charges. Donald J. Trump turned himself in to a court in Manhattan and pleaded not guilty to 34 felony charges. The charges against Trump come from an investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump did not speak to the media inside or outside the courthouse. He showed little emotion when he waved to crowds as he arrived to turn himself in. He'd been driven in a motorcade from his New York residence at Trump Tower. He's accused of falsifying business records in relation to to hush-money payments allegedly made to several people in the run-up to the 20-16 elections. After the arraignment, the judge released Trump from custody without pre-trial restrictions. Russian authorities have confirmed the arrest of at least one suspect in connection with Sunday's explosion at a Saint Petersburg cafe that killed a well-known military blogger. Fifty years ago today, Motorola manager Martin Cooper made a phone call to the chief technology officer of telephone giant AT&T from Sixth Avenue in New York. NASA has named a four-strong crew for its Artemis 2 moon flight. They include the first woman and the first African American to take part in a lunar mission. That's according to thousands of leaked documents that have been analyzed by a consortium of international journalists.
