Altitude Sickness
I have only been here four days, and the past few days, I have felt sick, but not ill feeling sick, but a malaise, low appetite, low-grade headache, and overall exhaustion.
I went from Bogotá at 8660 feet to Suesca at 8478 to Tunja at 9359; I have concluded, based on a consultation with a fellow medical friend, that I have a mild case of altitude sickness.
It makes sense going from almost sea level to where I am now. I should have realized this when I was extra out of it this week — misplacing my credit cards and making rookie mistakes.
Also, I have been sleeping at least 10 hours a night, well in bed, but tossing and turning all night. I usually sleep anywhere I am.
After I went out for lunch, I returned to my hotel room to chill, do nothing, write, and lay in bed. I had this room until Saturday when I was planning to go to my friend’s place, which is only 30 min away, yet it is also at an elevation above 8000 feet.
So, if I do not feel better, my friend recommended I get below 8000 feet, so I do not develop a dangerous case of altitude sickness. Luckily, Villa de Leyva is close by and is only around 7000, and if that does not work, I will continue to head east out of the Mountains.
I was in this part of the country less than six months ago, but I realized I was already acclimated to the weather and terrain. So I will be drinking lots of water and breathing deeply, and hopefully, all will be well by morning.
I might wander out to find some coca tea, but I have not seen it yet. I also read online any form of hot liquid helps, and even Coca-Cola!
Everyone here is used to the thinner air, and this area isn’t a hotspot for tourists, especially from outside of Colombia. So, if you head to the mountains, you are not going crazy; it's probably the altitude.

Exploring Mtatsminda Park in Tbilisi, Georgia
Exploring Mtatsminda Park in Tbilisi, Georgia
After spending three months in #georgia I realized it is quiet bizarre, in a good way. Everytime I turned around there was a strange amusement park at the top of the hill, or an abandoned building to explore.
I took full advantage of these opportunities!
It is hard to explain it, or capture it, so hopefully this video will spark your curiosity to want to #visitgeorgia

Tipping Culture in the USA is OUT OF CONTROL!
Tipping Culture in the USA is OUT OF CONTROL!
Seriously, what is happening here? I went out and was asked to tip between 20-30% for ordering food at a counter, where they took my order and handed me food; the transaction took less than 5 minutes.
When I paid it gave me an option to tip, and I opted out, except i had to push a few extra buttons.
I refuse to take part in a broken system.
Employers need to pay their staff a decent wage, where the public is not expected to tip. It should be a bonus, not an expectation!

EXPLORING an ABANDONED SEWING FACTORY #georgia
EXPLORING an ABANDONED SEWING FACTORY #georgia
We found this amazing building while wandering the streets in Sighnaghi Georgia. Inside you could see the patterns of the uniforms they were making. There were also old buttons all over, broken glass and left over remnants of the days when Georgia was part of the USSR.
It was a bit creepy on the lower levels, we were also the only explorers there at this time.

Hitchhiking in Georgia (the country) + Exploring the Monastery on The ROCK
Georgians are known for being some of the most hospitable people, and you can tell. By how kind they are when hitchhiking. We got rides from Chiatura to Kutaisi with no problems and met some of the nicest people. Which is why Georgia is one of the friendliest countries with the kindest people.

How I see the US after living abroad for 5 years (REVERSE CULTURE SHOCK + WHAT HAPPENED?)
How I see the US after living abroad for 5 years (CULTURE SHOCK)
I have been living outside of the USA for the past five years, and I never realized how much has changed since I have been gone. Possibly, I have changed.
For the past 6 months to a year, I have decided to live abroad permanently, and I have come back to sort a few things out prior to moving.
However, it is also one of the few times I have been here when the lockdowns are lifted, and everything is relatively back to normal. Except it is nothing like I remember, or maybe I was so blind before.
However, once I sat down and thought about it, I had reverse culture shock, and I didn't even realize it!

EXPLORING the ABANDONED SPA TOWN of TSKALTUBO GEORGIA
EXPLORING the ABANDONED SPA TOWN of TSKALTUBO GEORGIA | Once a Soviet Resort, Now in Ruins
When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the decadent Georgia spa town of Tskaltubo fell off the map. Once an elegant Soviet destination that attracted the elites of the Communist Party, including Joseph Stalin himself, for its natural springs, Tskaltubo is now an array of crumbling hotels, bath houses, and sanitoriums—ornamental health resorts designed for both rest and medical treatments.
Tskaltubo’s sanitoriums and hotels were places of healing, relaxation, and entertainment, attracting tens of thousands of visitors across the Soviet Union between the 1960s and 80s. The town was the favored destination of Georgian-born Stalin and the communist elite. Being favored by Stalin, Georgia was positioned as a leisure destination in the Soviet Union; but Tskaltubo was known for its legendary healing waters long before that. The spring water in Tskaltubo is said to have a high level of radon, which has long been believed to decrease inflammation. Legends of people healing their ailments in the area's springs have lingered for centuries.

Long Term Travel SOMETIMES is not Fun or Pretty and CAN be MESSY
Long Term Travel SOMETIMES is not Fun or Pretty and CAN be MESSY
Real-life backpacking is never an Instagram picture or filter. Most of us stay in hostels, take public transportation, and occasionally treat ourselves to a nice room.
Yet it seems that many channels promote a false reality of what its like. Don´t be deceived by the filters that everyone now uses to show a glimpse of their life.
