20240525.MCGTTX FM-2005 to Hamilton
The last destination has been accomplished. Am now heading home from this 2 night 3 day scavenger hunt. Just about 3 hours away from a nice shower and relaxation. My front tire has been worn to the steel belt showing in a few spots. So this bike will be put away for a little while so I can order a new tire. It was a good trip and I got in a lot of destinations and saw some pretty cool things.

20240525.MCGTTX FM-16 to Kerrville
So here I am back at FM-16 heading North into Kerrville. Sadly a car got in front of me and slowed me down. I should have gone ahead and passed even with double yellow line but I kept thinking he might eventually turn off the road. Hah, didn't happen.

20240525.MCGTTX FM-337 In Reverse
Time caught up with me and since today is my last day of this trip and I still have two destinations to make before heading home.... I decided to just return on FM-337 back to Medina and FM-16. Plus it is a fun fun road to ride. From there I will begin heading North again to make the last two destinations and then homeward. About 5 hours more time in the saddle.

20240525.MCGTTX FM-337 to Vanderpool
In the Texas Hill Country there are three Farm to Market roads which are a must ride for motorcyclists. These are FM-337, FM-336, & FM-335, The Three Twisted Sisters. Here I am riding FM-337 West thru Vanderpool and on to Leakey. There are elevation changes, twists and turns, and some nice vistas. I have ridden these many times. Nearby there are several options for lodging, my favorite is the Medina Highpoint Resort. When I specifically come here to ride this area I come down on a Thursday and ride the local twistys on Friday to beat the Saturday traffic. There are also great attractions close. Bandera, Kerrville, Lost Maples, Luckenbach, Fredericksburg, National Museum of the Pacific War, and the list goes on.

20240523.MCGTTX Trip Begins
After several days layoff I got back on the bike to continue my Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas adventure. So last Thursday 05/23 started out with the goal of heading west then south and eventually spending the night in Fredericksburg.
First thing is to get across the DFW metroplex. Even though the hi-way was crowded it only took me 55 minutes to go from McKinney to the west side of Fort Worth.

Later that morning when I reached Cisco, TX I took TX-206 south from I-20. Very flat, very straight, very boring. So a composite.

20240523.MCGTTX Squirrelyness at the Presidio
Heading to the Presidio de San Saba and some car was closing in on my ass very quickly so I made my left turn without paying much attention to the entrance. Surprise, gravel. So at the 7 thru 9 second marks you can see some squirrelyness.

20240524.MCGTTX FM-1376 to Sisterdale
Taking FM-1376 from Fredericksburg to Sisterdale I found a fantastic road. Plenty of curves I could take at speed and plenty of elevation changes. The low was 1465 ft. and the high was 2000 ft.

20150806.Rolling Into Devil's Tower
My friend Scott and I went to Sturgis Bike Week in August of 2015. While there we spent a little time at the event but most days we went riding. This day we went to Devil's Tower in WY and on into MT and then ND and then back to Spearfish, SD where we stayed at Black Hills State University. More than 500 miles this day.

20170709.Wet Pigtails
Wife and I spent a week in July of 2017 in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Toured Southeast SD Eastern WY & MT on my Triumph Rocket III. We traveled north on US-16A the Iron Mountain Road on a rainy day going to Mount Rushmore. This hiway is known for 314 curves, 14 switchbacks, 3 pigtails, 3 tunnels, and 2 splits in 17 miles. It is a must ride for a motorcyclist. During Bike Week in August several photographers will post themselves along this road and then sell you your photo on the web.

From 1836 to 1845 Texas was an independent nation. A boundary marker is located just off of FM-31 at the Texas Louisiana border North of Joaquin, Tx. This marker is one of the destinations that is part of the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas in which I am participating.

20240504.Catching Up
Went riding with a couple friends. I was in the trailing position when the leader decided to pass a vehicle ahead of us. Rider two hung back and since this was a twisty and hilly road the opportunity was quickly gone. Eventually another chance to pass came and since rider two chose not to pass I passed them both and then eventually caught up with the lead rider.

20240510.US-83 North To Canadian
Beautiful day with slight cool winds as we roll uneventfully thru the Texas Panhandle towards Canadian. Where we will be staying the night at The Last Cowboy's Court. And since we are in prime cattle country, having a steak at The Cattle Exchange.
